such versatility with this band. Saw them last year at the National Arts Centre. It was a night of screaming guitar and Gord has just wild screaming and well just being Gord. They opened the second set with two acoustic numbers, one Courage, which they usually do in full flight. More Hip please.

There is a lot of Hip that I like. It's hard to pick a favorite song or album, but I'll suggest "Ahead by a century" as another beautiful song with a similar tone. Week-end mornings I like to gently wake-up my girl friend with music and a cup of coffee. "Ahead by a century" is always a good wakey-upy song.

This was the first Tragically Hip album I bought. It is a very interesting album. I have bought many of their albums since that time. They are very cool, melodic, deep, deep lyrics.

Nice more obscure mellow tune from this intense poetic unique rock and roll band. Amazing live shows with the enigmatic, poet/lead singer, Gordon Downie throwing in nuggets of improv and spastic ramblings. Suggestion for new fans: Up to Here (1989), Road Apples (1991), Fully Completely (1992) and Day for Night (1994) are a great starter. If you want to sample some Live Hip, I suggest Live Between Us from 1997. They also have an excellent greatest hits double CD which came out in 2005 called Yer Favourites. It includes 95% of their classic hits with many of their latest hits as well which is cool. Most fans agree that their masterpiece albums were in the early 90's but their recent offerings always had a minimum of 1-2 excellent tunes on each CD. Maybe not worth getting the album, but the nuggets certainly qualify as 'greatest hits' material.

The Hip are both the most overrated and underrated group in the history of Canada; the perennial "They Should Be Huuuuge in the States!" band. Which is to say that they remain huge amongst the cheep-beer-drinking loogan crowd who are, generally, incapable of grasping the depths of their best work - this song included. They're a damned solid band most of the time and very worthy of RP - it's lovely to hear them here. Now someone should upload their new tune, "In View" which, oddly, reminds me of River-era Bruce Springsteen....

I like the Hip, and love the early work that they did (Road Apples especially) is a magical album They dont seem as relevant to me anymore but I would have loved to see them land commercial success in the US for all their hard work trudging through tours in Canada for years. Alas, they aren't pretty, and in the music industry (especially now) strait teeth in your mouth are more important than the words that come out of it. Love the hip though

This song always reminds me of walking home from a pub on a crisp winter night, the sound of snow compressing beneath my feet, thinking of the night. The Tragically Hip are the quintessential Canadian band. Their early work takes much form Canadian history (Tom Thompson, Milgaard, race riots in TO) moreso than their later work but a common thread throughout the years has been a very acurate reprsentation of CDN life which can still be appreciated by folks from other places of the world. If you get the chance, espically at a small venue like they would play in the US, check them out.

They're great live. One of the good things about being from Buffalo is that you get to hear all of the good Canadian bands that get overlooked every where else in the US. Road Apples is one of their earlier albums and is also a good listen. Beauty.

They can sell out the largest arenas anywhere in Canada (as well as American cities close to the Canadian border). They haven't broken into the US market completely yet, but hopefully will.
