Great song! Interesting chords and production, fine playing and singing, even a pretty good lyric. Looking back, seems like it was still very easy for Paul to come up with gems at this point in time.
If that is Linda Mc. doing the harmonizing vocals, she's doing a wonderful job.

Paul plays most of the instruments himself and he played every one on his first solo album,McCartney in 1970 and then again on McCartney 2 in 1980.
Also Guitarist Hugh McCraken who worked with Paul on his 1971 album Ram which sessions Another Day was recorded from,said Paul is a genuis,he sees and hears everything he wants.Dixon Van Winkle who was a young staff member at A&R Recording then,says Paul is such a great singer,and that he knows that the vocals they cut at CBS studios are Paul singing live right of the floor with the rhythm section into an RE20 which was a relatively new mike at the time.He said he was in love with the song Another Day and told Paul to release this as the single and so he did.Tim Geelan the CBS staff engineer at the time,said working on the song Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey was one of the highlights of his career.He said Paul was a great producer:thorough,businesslike and loose at the same time,he says Paul was absolutely the best,and that he was impressed with his musicianship and command of the studio.

I'm still living it ! This is one of my all time favorites!!
This is a great sounding song,I love the Hawian sounding guitar in it and Paul's bass plus his melody and harmony is great as usual! I hadn't listened to this song for over a year and I started to listen to my All The Best Paul McCartney album,and I like this song more than I ever did! The guitarist who worked with Paul in recording this said he was in love With Another Day and told Paul to release it as a single.

I hope I'm not crucified for suggesting that Paul might have a deeper point to make--no one seems to think he's capable of depth--but the way that verse sounds to me, he's portraying the misguidedness of the girl's "man of her dreams" scenario. In the song, the guy's a dud. He "leaves the next day," and she ends up even MORE depressed.
Or, he could've written lyrics that say, "Unfortunately, she tried to fill the void with a man, which is never a good idea," but instead, he told a story, which is something he does very well.
I mean, did you even listen to the song?

Hmmm. While I understand, even appreciate, your POV, methinks this is Sir Paul's second take on a theme that actually meant something to him--i.e., Eleanor Rigby and "all the lonely people". Ordinarily, I'm less than kind to SP's lyrics and thematic choices--all the depth of a mud puddle, but I'll give him this one.

No diss from me. I love this song and always have. (I am addicted to blindsiding minor keys.) As for commercial radio, what station is playing this? I'm there! Certainly not the Boston classic rock stations. It's AC/DC all day, every day.

I expected to be the usual "disses" here about anything that ever got heavy play on commercial radio - maybe it's just because it hasn't been played much - I'll wait. 
This is the first song I ever learned to play on guitar!

What horrible lyrics...a sad girl in a dead end job waiting for a man to come along and rescue her, presumably because she can't help herself? Haven't we progressed past this? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the transforming power of love, and I'm married to the best man on the planet.
