Ah, you should have seen me with the poker man
I had a honey and I bet a grand
Just in the nick of time I looked at his hand

I was talking to an Eskimo
Said he was hoping for a fall of snow
When up popped a sea lion ready to go

Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go
Down to Junior's farm where I want to lay low
The low life, high life, oh, let's go
Take me down to Junior's farm
Take me down, Jimmy

Ah, at the Houses of Parliament
Everybody's talking 'bout the President
We all chip in for a bag of cement

Ollie Hardy should have had more sense
He bought a gee-gee and he jumped the fence
All for the sake of a couple of pence

Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go
Down to Junior's farm where I want to lay low
The low life, high life, oh, let's go
Take me down to Junior's farm

Let's go, let's go
Down to Junior's farm where I want to lay low
The low life, high life, oh, let's go
Take me down to Junior's farm
Everybody tag along

I took my bag into a grocer's store
The price is higher than the time before
Old man asked me why is it more

I said, you should have seen me with the poker man
I had a honey and I bet a grand
Just in the nick of time I looked at his hand

Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go
Down to Junior's farm where I want to lay low
(Down to Junior's Farm)
The low life, high life, oh, let's go
Take me down to Junior's farm
(Down to Junior's Farm)

Let's go, let's go
Down to Junior's farm where I want to lay low
The low life, high life, oh, let's go
Take me down to Junior's farm
(Down to Junior's Farm)
Everybody tag along
(Down to tag along)
Take me down to Junior's farm

Take me back
Take me back
I wanna go back
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Allegedly, in a post-Beatles interview someone once asked Lennon the question, "What was the best song Paul ever wrote?" Supposedly John's deadpan response was, ?Yesterday was the only song Paul ever wrote.
If John ever said this it was during the bitter period shortly after The Beatles break up. He praised *many* of Paul's great songs and he loved Here There and Everywhere,he even almost recorded with Paul and Wings on their great 1975 Venus and Mars album but he went back to Yoko instead after they had been seperated for a year and a half. He also said in a 1980 interview that he really liked Paul's 1980 song Coming Up and that hearing it inspired him to write music again!

Wasn't that "Get back Junior" the exact same exhortation and guitar solo from Get Back's "Get Back Jojo?"
If it's the "exhortation" before the guitar lead, it's "Take me back, Jimmy" (as in "back to Junior's farm", and referring to Jimmy McCulloch, Wings' lead guitarist at the time.)

steve miller and paul pena did this sound better.

Same here. Kind of overblown, but somehow it works anyhow.

Really like "Venus and Mars".

I have always liked this song,it's one of Paul's great solo/Wings rockers! Bookitty's review is pure dreck though! :x

On the contrary, without Paul the Beatles would have been just another artsy 60's band. Deep, some might say navel-gazing, lyrics perhaps--but no musical hook to get people to listen and keep listening 40 years later.
Yes, all those pathetic, "Hookless" Lennon tunes like "HELP", "In My Life", "Nowhere Man", "Day Tripper", "I Feel Fine", "And Your Bird Can Sing", "Strawberry Fields Forever", "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"……….. Speak when you know, little one…not just to see your own writing.

A fun song and one not to be taken seriously. I agree, he kicked ass at Live8. My condolences to the people of London and England on the cowardly terrorist attacks in the beautiful city. I hope that G8 will be able to carry on and do the work that they propose on doing despite this attack. Life is precious and not to be wasted.
Absolutely ... thanks for the sentiment.

He was absolutely top-notch last week at Live8. He played 'Drive My Car' and 'Helter Skelter' The band rocked like you wouldn't believe, and the drummer was awesome !! Then he played 'Long and Winding Road', which is pure schmaltz, but it worked perfectly in the context. Great stuff, Macca !!
PURE DREK.
One of the few of Mac songs that I totallly dislike...
I am a big McCartney and Beatles fan but give us a better song!
Most of Paul McCartney's/Wings' music has stand the test of time pretty well, I think. Mainly due to the quality of the (catchy) songs, of course, but also because of the crystal clear production, the LOUD bass and things like that. Quite some Get Back in this one (but he's entitled to use that ). physicsgenius wrote:

I pretty much agree with that, but it was especially the combination of talents (including that of George Martin and the recording team) and characters and also the sixties' spirit that made them so special, I think.

I knew if I stuck around long enough, I'd find something physicsgenius and I agree on. John gave Paul's pop music teeth, and Paul gave John's dark art a sugar-coating to help it go down. Either one would have been lost without the other. They were both influencing each other long after the Beatles broke up. As for George, .... He's always admitted he was the weaker songwriter..... it took ALL FOUR to create the "musical hook" to which physicsgenius refers. Can you fathom all that music without Ringo's backbeat?
Nail on the head, and please it is so obvious from this song that Paul is a much, much poorer drummer than our DLF Ringo -- who more than holds his own in Concert for George, if you bother to notice.....
Weak. 'Nuff said.
Yuck!
Yawn. Its music like this that reminds me that artists are also businesses. Gotta keep the cash flow going!!

Either one would have been lost without the other. They were both influencing each other long after the Beatles broke up. As for George, how bad does a record need to be for a record company to not produce it, when the artist is a BEATLE? He's always admitted he was the weaker songwriter, even if he never admitted he actually learned his craft from the other lads. That is to say, many of his lyrics were weak -- in actuality, it took ALL FOUR to create the "musical hook" to which physicsgenius refers. Can you fathom all that music without Ringo's backbeat?

Do not disagree with that. I was talking about Paul after the Beatles.

I don't know, I've always thought Paul was disappointing post- Beatles. And I thought his stuff, and that of Wings, became progressively worse as he/they went along. Comparing the solo works of George and John with those of Paul, well, at least to me, there is no comparison.

I don't know, I've always thought Paul was disappointing post- Beatles. And I thought his stuff, and that of Wings, became progressively worse as he/they went along (example: Silly Love Songs or whatever that song was called) Comparing the solo works of George and John with those of Paul, well, at least to me, there is no comparison.

Awesome upload!! I had forgotten all about this song. 10 here!!!
I'm sick of the Beatles (have been for 30 years). I know you're not supposed to say that, but its true. However, I love 70's McCartney, and this one's no exception!

Nope, I just did too. I think this might have been Paul's best. Really cranked it up. The guitar licks are just too perfect.
Nicely done. Don't hear this one often. coding_to_music wrote:
