She'll come, she'll go.
She'll lay belief on you
Skin sweet with musky oil
The lady from another grinning soul

Cologne she'll wear. Silver and Americard
She'll drive a beetle car
And beat you down at cool Canasta

And when the clothes are strewn
don't be afraid of the room
Touch the fullness of her breast.
Feel the love of her caress
She will be your living end

She'll come, she'll go.
She'll lay belief on you
But she won't stake her life on you
How can life become
her point of view

And when the clothes are strewn
don't be afraid of the room
Touch the fullness of her breast.
Feel the love of her caress
She will be your living end (repeat)

Awesome!!! Super cool story, hope you still got the Dead album too! both this Bowie album and the Dead album are in my personal favorites

Fun story

I once ordered The Working Man's Dead vinyl off of Amazon. Since most employees there work in impossible conditions, I got this record instead which I never heard. I put it on the turntable just as my then flat-mate Liza came home and (bless her) she was so impressed by the whole experience she bought me David Bowie socks for my birthday!

Been a Bowie fan since. The universe can be a funny place.

Support small shops and the labels, not the mega-corpos. And support RP. PEACE my sisters and brothers.

One of his very best, actually.

Cracked Actor.. Give that one a spin my friends.
Ah... I could not place the piano's name by its sound. Not a Steinway... Bosendorfer? Possible...

A little research and the 'house' piano at Trident Studios is/was a Bechstein!
Ah... such is the majesty of a grand piano... sound!
Ah, my first Bowie album...I was maybe 13 or 14 at the time. How time flies.
Is that pianist Mike Garson tickling away?

Had a kind of Liberace vibe there - intentional, perhaps?

Can't say enough about Mike Garson's contribution to Bowie's sound over the years. Title track to this album is another great example.
One of the great songs from David's canon

I love how it spun out the final grooves on side 2 of Aladdin Sane, fading into the future

I like to think he's back together with with Mick.

The perfect rock star back with the perfect rock guitarist.

...waiting for Garson to join them. (Not too soon, I hope).
Perfect line-up! This after Tull's Skating Away.
Oh, memories....

Ah, after a massive rain here in Burkina Faso, where the temp has dropped from 114F to 78F, I was hoping to hear some Bowie.
Great choice, Bill.

I must confess I haven't heard this album, but I'm gonna go way out on a limb and suggest it's no Sgt. Peppers.

When I heard 2 David Bowie songs in a row this morning, I thought, is it his birthday?  When the 3rd came on, I thought "Oh, Sh*t, he's died."  Thanks David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust/Thin White Duke for transforming rock music!  You lived a vivid, elegant life!
Agreed. Rest peacefully David.
No doubt.. Many a good years enjoying the influence of this mans music.. RIP Ziggy..

Vivaldi by Kennedy, followed by Bowie?  Where else could we hear such astonishing choice?  Nowhere, that's where.  Thanks, Mr & Mrs Goldsmith, and a Happy New Year to you all.
The Uncut magazine retrospective of every album by Bowie is pretty spectacular if you are a Bowie fan....highly recommended.  Needless to say a fantastic tune.

With DB's passing, I decided to delete the goofy Travolta post.
And as far as Bowie albums, I don't think there was a bad one in the 70s.

There were a great many "poor" albums in the 1970s; selective memory has helped a lot of people forget about them.  However, I agree that this is a great album.

He was a genius who understood what a good song sounded like but he also had the good sense to go into the studio with other highly creative musicians who could contribute their own ideas.

{#Clap}{#Clap}{#Clap}—-HA!  NICELY DONE!!

Hey, I really wanted to see Michael Shannon's take on Kim Fowley, as I'm fascinated by his work on Boardwalk Empire, and pretty much everything else he's in.

That movie had potential, but it just didn't work.  But at least Tatum O'Neal got a paycheck coming out of rehab, which is nice...

Oui en effet!  Godlike, imo (grand portrait d')
Caterwauling to the max! Over the years I have been exposed to mucho David Bowie, as haven't we all. There were parties back in the early 70s when it was impossible to avoid Ziggy Stardust et al. Not very pleasant for me. However, time has allowed me to see that he was on to something unique and lasting. But, when he moves into his bellowing/warbling/garbling singing mode, as exemplified in this piece, my aversion is rekindled. Maybe it was the cocaine that befuddled his judgement, or maybe it was a phase. Still, even with rock music there may be limits and I think he passed them without any recognition that he had moved into the zone of self-parody. It's his right, but jeez!

Yeah and I feel pretty lucky to have grown-up in them.  Such a diverse period.  But really it is even more diverse now.   It only seems limited if one only listens to mainstream radio.   Luckily we all know about RP {#Angel}
total buzz kill
Yes, she will be my living end.  That's who I'm searching for ...
Wow! Excellent line up, right after Vivaldi.
No, Bill, it's not Rick Wakeman on piano, and, yes, Mike Garson (see Lady Grinning Soul and/or Mike Garson at Wikipedia).
Sounds just like Die Toten Hosen - Hier kommt Alex (from 1988)

No wait, sorry .....that was another song.

and again!
Well, David Bowie was nothing if not innovative; that tango-like intro to the song and verses is great. (Of course, this is from one who has a soft spot for tango.)
Like his makeup, the song doesn't hold up well over time.
I must've played this LP 200 times in 1973 and I don't remember this at all. GETTING OLD!

And of course both the dwarf from Minneapolis and the genius from Mars by way of London have bedded down far more than the average share of women.

Reminds me of a woman who claimed to have slept with Bowie twice and justified it with the statement "well, my husband practically forced me into his (Bowie's) arms".

Felt like saying "And your now ex-husband did that twice, did he?" {#Rolleyes}
Best song from Bowie's best album!! Now, that's how you close an album!!
