I agree... only one song play in YEARS? I just discovered these guys and am very impressed, and that doesn't happen all that often or easily. I emailed Bill to get them into rotation.

Sign me up, I'd like to join the club. Really like their subdued approach. Excellent.
I am a permanent member of their guest list. The bar next door to this club on Haight St where they were playing was selling 99cent cocktails and my partner and I won the AMC dance contest after several trips next door. This song is not indicative of the music they were playing on that night.
Formula.

Beautiful. Like classic AMC.
"Another morning with caffeine"?
Okay, I can see where the misogynist comment comes from. But allow me to offer another explanation: he's with a woman who suffers from depression, and he's trying to either get her out of it or get her to seek help. Without preaching TOO much, depression affects those around the afflicted as much or more than the actual patient. It's painful being around someone who simply cannot enjoy life. I offer this explanation because I can see myself as the object of the lyrics; the emotional content is clear. But that still doesn't make it great music. 5. Happy Listening! c.
wasn't wild about this tune, but I really like the album cover art.

Boring pablum. The artist is so afraid to be masculine (I'm not equating masculine with macho, either), the feigned gentleness and sensitivity just grates on my nerves.
Well put! And also, I think the lyrics are just plain misogynist. I've never said this about a song on RP yet, but... YUK
U2-type guitar work
Similes 101! These guys fail.
Wow, really thought this was Josh Ritter's 'Kathleen' for a minute there. Quite similar.
...cut from a review by Jason Ankeny "...Despite the skill and diversity of the other members, Eitzel quickly became the group's focal point: an evocative vocalist and gutter poet capable of composing songs of disquieting honesty and intensity... " ... The reviewers, and myself without a doubt share the integrity of Eitzel, so easy to criticise without having first the faintest idea of the who's when's why's what's and wherefor's! ...

Thought for a minute you were referring to my wife.
You should hire that person to be your straight man.
Love songs for Patriots? What the hell? Football fans or those ... whatever ... I guess it's supposed to be up to your own interpretation ... yikes!

That's the way I sing this song every time it comes on. Also when I hum it to myself in the morning.

A lot of this album is like that. I think I owned it for months before it slowly dawned on me that I thought it was brilliant. Definitely worth persevering with!

I can't answer your question...but maybe he also tastes like chicken.
It took me a moment to get that.

Why does everybody say this to almost every song.
Because Nick Drake used to pay people to listen to him and say nice things about him. That is the only way I can figure he had any popularity at all....

What a great AMC album. Glad they reunited for this. They still sound as good as they used to.
sux. was OK 'till the end, and then...
Reminds me of Nick Drake.
I'm really digging this tune. Good stuff.
hi guys, hope you play more from American Music Club or Mark Eitzel, its quite interesting music. It is anyway a nice fit to Smiths and Badly Drawn Boy
