Los Lobos rule. Richard Thompson, not so much. Split the diff, a 5.

Blasphemy!  Legends all around.  Bumping this to a 10, just for you.
Most excellant, thank you psd for introducing this great piece!

Anybody else hear echos of Gordon Lightfoot here? Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald?
Only in the name.

LL make an appearance on the homage-to-RT disc 'Beat the Retreat', which came out before this one. They covered 'Down Where the Drunkards Roll', an RT classic that deserves to be heard here as well. But the best song off that disc is David Byrne covering 'Just the Motion'. Worth picking up just for that.
Los Lobos also do a killer version of "Shoot Out the Lights" on Ride This: The Covers EP.

... went to the bottom, like the Carlos Rey. Actually, this one is pretty cool. But they don't have to go anywhere to be good, y'all.
Like salsa on fish & chips: you don't know how well they go together until you try the combination. Me gustas!

I dunno how they got together....seems like RT and LL were made for each other, doesn't it? RT seems to appreciate good guitarists, which both Carlos and David are.

Sufism is what Sufjan Stevens is into. And just for the sake of clarity, Surfism is what the Beach Boys were into.

He doesn't wear it on his sleeve or anything, but Richard Thompson (along with then-wife and singer Linda) converted to Islam in the '70s. Richard was (is?) into the intense Sufi mysticism, specifically. Doesn't stop him from being a quintessentially English singer-songwriter; just another weird and enigmatic layer to this complex person.

Pretty damn decent this....
They should have asked the maintenence staff to turn off the vacuum cleaner. That constant hum in the background is almost as annoying as Richard Thomas singing in the foreground. The music in the middle is OK. It's a reverse turd sandwich.
Clearly, I've another album to purchase. What a combo! Most excellent.
Exquisite pairing. I'm a huge LL and RT fan, and this is just a great matchup. Really rips it up.

I agree with others, I'm a huge fan of both Los Lobos and Richard Thompson and didn't know this existed! Thanks!!!!
Excellent match-up. Folks-y, SouthWestern groove. 8.
I've always enjoyed some music by both LL and RT but never become a true fan. This song, however, has definitely hooked me in. Love these unpredictable combos!
shoot out the lights meet the wolf....truly a gem.

Oh my gosh - where did this come from?! As a lover of RT, AND LL, I can't believe I'm just finding out about this. Awesome.

Not better, just different. The two songs would go together well.

this is an excellent album, with guest duets that work very well. With LL backing me up, even I would sound good ;-0
Most excellent, Ted!
