We stay hard to find
'Cause it's too hard to take it
And we keep that in mind
That we're older and jaded
We can't shake it

Pacific to Eastern we're bordered and hated
So we stay hard to find
'Cause it's too hard to take it
No, we can't fake it

If the were still in the vinyl only era, one would think that the nail is spinning in loop at each rotation in the same groove.

These guys were around and releasing albums before Deathcab was. It does sound like they both have similar influences and similar harmonizing styles though.
Does anyone else hear the similarity to Death Cab for Cutie in this track?
Bill - ya know I love ya.

But could you give a little love to Mr. Chilton's "other" band.

(other english speaking countries can decide for themselves.) I can do inches and Lbs and gallons, along with Litres and millimeters  but cmon, why change the date around, that's just daft.?   It's spelt Analogue.....

Don't take this the wrong way, ok? its just a date format thing -
when someone mentions "nine, eleven" i have to stop myself from blurting out "why, what happened on the 9th of November?"
Does it...ever......end?........

About a year and a half ago I had this song stuck in my head for a week. I couldn't remember the words well enough to google it, so it's been SERIOUSLY bothering me for the last 18 months. Oh, the irony that the song is called "Hard to Find". Wow.

Thanks for ending the mystery at long last.

Reminds me of the Pacifica song Bill loves

As usual, more evidence of Bill's brilliance.

PS this is a hypno song - it's /supposed/ to be repetitive.

and so you can stare at the wall and think of your life or one of the first songs to play while making love!

Hmmm interesting - the first I've heard of these people.Thought I was hearing the enigmatic touch of another RP introductee Kaki King.

Apparently, a lot of people do not agree with that, or just don't get it; sometimes a groove is a song.  This song is the way it is by design - the groove is the whole point.  I'm not sure why people expect every song to have the exact same components.
Wow!  This yanked me out of my edit/proofread trance ... very nice, very smooooooooth.
The first and only place I have heard this fantastic tune, HERE! Thanks for all the groovy tunes, this one makes me dance.
Some days the music seems to slide into the background—and then something like this starts to play and I wander over to the stereo, feeling the need to crank it up.

Like a heartbeat only groovier..for someone..

Very nice. Downloaded via iTunes. Just keep on truckin'.
Not sure who came first, the American Analog Set or Pinback, but I do like this kind of sound. I've heard similar bands referred to as math rock. Definitely appeals to the nerd in me.

Yes; it works rather well I think - a good groove.

...did someone leave a turgid and unfinished backing track laying around in the RP studio?

Hard to Find: any other TAAS song that is even marginally interesting.

This song makes me dive for the mute button every time... drives me batty if it plays for more than 30 seconds.

Oh, wait — you played that last week. This is shorter.

Right about them being uneven, but when they get it right, it's good. I downloaded a couple of tunes of theirs from Epitonic.com. I keep hoping they'll mature and break out.

I like this song a lot.  After hearing AAS on SOMAFM I bought a couple of their CDs and it's uniformly strong work.
quite likable!
This would be a much better song if this band had not fallen in so love with their kickin' bass line. Less is more, people.

groovy bass
A nice way to slowly get in the 'Monday morning work day after a holiday' groove.
another song i very like, perfect sounds!!!!

This sounds like something a fifth-place American Idol contestant would record in the middle of the CD.

My thoughts exactly. . . like a missing track from "Summer in Abaddon."
yaaaaaaaawn
I saw Broken Social Scene play this weekend, with the guy from American Analog Set as part of the band. They played this tune and jammed out for a while on it. It was a really cool show. Not incredibly tight at times, but they weren't afraid to try new things. I'd see them again.
This literally put me to sleep. No lie. It took 2 songs to wake up.
There seems to an abundance of this uninspiring music here at RP, but played after such classics as Jamacia Say You Will and Many Rivers To Cross, anyone can see what a waste of cyber space it is.
...didn't realize I'd like hypno so much until RP introduced me to this band :)

So glad to hear this on RP -- one of my favorite bands

Hi Bill! You really have brilliant CDs here, music which I never heard before..., soul warmers...
Nothin' wrong with that
not related but this reminded me to make my request again could someone upload some Ratatat? I really think they should be on RP

A good DJ doesn't need a database. They feel it and know it in their soul. They get the flow and just start grabbing the records (or files, as the case may be). It's an art. If you could use a database, I think it would have no soul and be boring. Heart is the magic ingredient. And this is an awesome set he's got going. I am feeling it an a most serious way.
