Frozen wind began to blow (Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop ta-da-da)
Under my boots and around my toe (Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop ta-da-da)
Frost had bit the ground below (Boop-boop aiee-ay-ah)
Was a hundred degrees below zero (Booh!) (Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop ta-da-da)

And my momma cried (Boo-a-hoo hoo-ooo)
And my momma cried (Nanook, a-no no) (No no)
(Nanook, a-no no) (No no)
(Don't be a naughty Eskimo-wo-oh) (Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop ta-da-da)
Save your money, don't go to the show

Well, I turned around an' I said "ho ho" (Booh!)
Well, I turned around an' I said "ho ho" (Booh!)
Well, I turned around an' I said "ho ho"
And the Northern Lights commenced t' glow
And she said (Bop-bop ta-da-da bop)
With a tear in her eye

Watch out where the huskies go
An' don't you eat that yellow snow

There's no such thing as a pro-abortion, it isn't something a woman does for fun......

As for executions, one has to wonder sometimes......
Thank you PSD for sweet silly Zapp to do away with the skanky Decemberpiss
Black Napkins please
 But of course, now I'm also seeing Bill's theme here after the recent blizzard up north. Ha! Well done Bill.{#Cheers}

Nice to hear Mr. Zappa on RP. {#Clap}{#Clap}
Agree generally with this. I laughed when I heard it playing, so as the once every other year odd track it works, and it IS Zappa, but there is soooo much more of his work out there that could be played. Acquired taste true, but like a good black cup of coffee.

Please, for the love of whatever deity you worship, there is more and better Zappa than this. In the RP library, there is only "Joe's Garage" (not too bad), "Camarillo Brillo" (biting), "Montana" (not played for five years), and this. "Yellow Snow" is tired worn-out underground and college radio stuff. Everyone has heard it. You can go with the winding guitar stuff from the "Shut Up and Play" discs, but that's going to send a lot of listeners to the mute button. You could punch some material from "Sheik Yerbouti" but that's dated. But please please please - retire this one in favor of something else.

Hello Frank {#Jump}
ZAPPA!!! Bill, you rock!

Wheeee!  This is AWESOME!

Frank Zappa by ~Bermud
Neringa Stonyte  ©2008-2010 ~Bermud

a rough attempt on Frank Zappa.
I got a present yesterday from my brother. Yes,'tis a Frank Zappa CD

I have to share this Zappa story. I read it shortly after he passed and it is just so typical of him. Very early on in his career he appeared on an extremely right wing Saturday morning radio talk show out in California knowing full well he was about to be ridiculed and "made an example of" by the one legged army veteran that hosted the show. Almost as soon as he came on the show the host "quipped" "You have long hair you must be a girl" and Zappa shot back without missing a beat "You have a wooden leg you must be a table". Freakin Zappa- you gots to love it however it comes

Hear Hear! A guitar genius!
"Yellow Snow" is tired worn-out underground and college radio stuff. Yup. Some of the music is still great, but the ado shock lyrics are rather passé. Zappa is great. I saw him at UBC in Vancouver in 1975. They did a skit about undressing at the border not too long after I had to drop my drawers at the Detroit tunnel. Entertaining.... I think. Zep is right. Play the better music.
The only problem with RP. Given the size of Ambassador Zappa's library, isn't there something rather the lamest song off the second lamest Zappa album (Overnight Sensation comes in first) that you can play? Weasels Ripped My Flesh? Freak Out? We're Only in it for the Money? Joe's Garage? Roxy and Elsewhere? Live in LA? Where are all these great albums? Why the commercially viable stuff all the time? How about some of his classical stuff?

I'm not sure that was a conservative. More a righteous ass of indeterminate origin. Remember it was Al's wife Tipper who was behind the big push on this stuff. Frank was a Conservative Capitalist Libertarian of the First Order. That Frank held his own doesn't surprise me nor his ability to remain insulting in the most pleasant way.

Nice to hear some Zappa. I remember the day he died. I send a postcard regretting his death to an ex-girlfriend I had not seen or heard of in many, many years. We used to listen to Zappa a lot. It turned out she send me a postcard the very same day! Great memories.
I hate the playing of the short version... why not just go for the full thing as long is you're doing freeform radio? And while you're at it, more Zappa! Hot Rats! Roxy & Elsewhere! Overnight Sensation! One Size Fits All! (thank you)

Oh God I love this... walking through the snow on the way to St. Regis Elementary back in the mid 70s, my friends and I singing this song, and guys in my class getting in trouble for singing lyrics from Titties and Beer in class... and there were, on the shelves of everyone's older brothers, Dyna Moe Hum, G-Spot Tornado and Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar, and who can possibly overlook that unparalleled guitar solo on Wet T Shirt Night where it fades into On The Bus? Frank -- you da man, mon! YES, LET US invoke the chuckling ghost of Frank Zappa and jump up and down upon the chest of the fuddy establishment and injure them Great googly moogly! so strictly commercial... Meet me at St. Alphonso's Pancake Breakfast!
Is that Frank Zappa I hear....on RP.....Kewl!!!!

As I mentioned earlier you should play her "Stick It Out" off Joe's Garage. It's even sung in German as well!!!

I love Joe's Garage also but I doubt if any radio programmer would have the cojones to play "Stick It Out!"
I just love that screaming guitar!
Aaaagh! The short version! The cuts always grate when I hear this one .... Good ol' Frank. Sure miss his ascerbic wit.
Thank you. I was having a bad day....I needed something silly to break me out of this self absorbed bubble I have been hiding in today. Tee Hee....Love FZ
YESSSSSSSSSSSS! This reminds me of my childhood...My dad was always playing Zappa! We need more surprises like this during the day!
PEEK-A-BOO!!!!
MOST EXCELLENT

Why must it snow in Cali for yall to play Frank?? other than Peaches of course.
Zappa on the Radio! YES!
Nice reflector umbrellas in his glasses...
Waddayamean kooties? I can't believe I zeed out on my sofa and missed this tune! Also missed it back on 12/9 when they played it! I do however own 49 out of 60 of his albums so not like I am Zappa deprived, but hearing him here would have resulted in a panty-throwing bongo fury of bovine perspiration. God bless FZ!

Frank Zappa's appearance on Crossfire in 1986 Quite interesting Frank should lay off the coffee though, he appears quite angry and uptight . He was very correct about where this country is heading... Zappa and Lofton on Crossfire
"Angry and uptight"? Gee, considering the provocation, I thought he was amazingly mellow! If this Lofton clown had bothered to do any homework, he could have thrown Zappa's song Magdalena in his face! (Not that I think the song, by portraying incipient incest is promoting incest...) It really kills me to visualize Howard Kaylan singing these lyrics!
Great Googley-moogley!
Frank Zappa Frank Sinatra! Only on RP!
Yooowwwwzaaaa! It's really Zappa, they're playin'... Bill, you are the King of music!

Sometimes you gotta take what you can get and try to enjoy it. He still sounds great!
Nice Frank segue - Zappa > Sinatra. I used to have a bumpersticker that said Zappa For President. Now that would have been interesting - in a good way.

I wouldn't mind "Shut Up and Play yer Guitar," but when I played this on college radio I got hate calls. How about "Dynamo Hum" or "City of Tiny Lites?"
Zappa picks on northern types hunting seals (with lead-lined snowshoes - good one). Wonder if he's vegan or if it's southern (California?) silly attitudes against harming any animal while gulping Big Mac's and BBQing chicken? Like being anti-abortion/pro-execution.

Maxwell the poodle loves this one!
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZappa Unparralleled genuis.
Destined to replace the mud-shark in my mythology. Great googlymoogly!
Fun, Bill! Haven't heard in some time... love it!!
"Great Googly Moogly!"

Maybe because it's snowing (heavily) today in a lot of places in North America.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Zappa, this whole recording in particular. THANKYAVERYMUCH!!

Someone like me should look askance at Zappa. Instead, I appreciate his sardonic humor.
Yowzers there it is...love this one.
Nanook, ah-no-no.... Always loved this whole album. Fun to hear it here. Zappa
Very interesting, different, engaging, but this is STILL one of his "hits." How about the surreal "Billy The Mountain?" for an out-there track? Zappa's tunes are off-the-graph. My little dudes show my reaction when I hear him...not a bad thing either.
this guy and his music are the worst attempt at music I have ever loved so much!!! Frank!
I'm laughing my ass off. This is pure genius. Zappa was a genius. Zappa was before his time. He was quite a poet. I don't believe a word I am saying.
...and damn funny too. How about some "Tits and Beer"?
Guilty pleasure if ever there was.

And yet there's room on the hard drive for 11 Ween tracks. How's that for injustice?
This song and the rest of the Apostrophe album, while good, wasn't his best. Nevertheless, he deserved every dime he made off it and more. As far as I'm concerned, he's the Charles Ives of the counterculture - one in a long line of original geniuses to emerge in American music.
This song was destroyed by too much air play back in the 70s. Still, I haven't heard it in years and Frank-ly, I like it. It would be really be nice to hear some more obscure Zappa cuts. How 'bout something off 'Live at the Filmore East." album?

This song is terrible. Did he say, "The Huskey Wee-Wee"? I don't think I have ever heard of it referred to as Husky! Hope I never see one of those!
I'm sure glad I can switch over to the LRC at times like this.

Not me!
I actually need to go out and shovel. I'll wait until this song is finished...
I have to admit, I was thinking about, and wrote a poem about this topic in 1978. I was in the 6th grade, and king of the mountain was the main topic of my existance, since I lived in WI, USA. It it still true today! Oh, don't you eat that yellow snow!
60 albums, before the era when any d*&hed with a cd burner could put out an album. you want a treat? off the top of my head i'd say try filmore east. a very satisfying album from a venue that hosted only the best. ok, and some of the worst.
Sorry, but I outgrew this sort of thing in about 7th grade.
Frank Zappa must be one of the most rejected artists at RP! I just took a look in the upload library. One example: Rejected: Frank Zappa - Variations on The Carlos Santana Secret Chord Progression

Arrrgh ... the short version -- it always throws me off. It's a shame he had to check out so soon ... if only he was around today ... oh well. Call Any Vegetable!
Admittedly that's the track, but it always feels so incomplete.
Shame shame...Play the whole song or not at all. DISAPPOINTED!! I DO love this song!!!

Great googly-moogly! It's a shame dips like you have Internet access.
The sound of his favorite baby seal getting beat on gets me everytime. Completely defuses the otherwise not very pleasant image, and just cracks me up. And it's nice to know someone else uses the phrase "great googly-moogly".
Unfortunately, the theme music for my life. :fight.gif:

If only it had been "now and then". Sadly, he didn't realize that he was trivializing his career by doing so much of what can only be called "novelty songs".
Fantastic! Thanks Bill! More Zappa!
zappa rules
Zappa's whole point was to illustrate how we shouldn't take ourselves too seriously. Be good at what you do, have fun at it, and laugh. Frank has got the angels in heaven rolling on the floor laughing and tapping their feet as we speak.
Fun!
He had the guts and the brains and the whatever the hell else it took to create this stuff, and I love him for it.
I have this CD and I really like the live instrumental, "Sexual Harasment in the Work Place"
Such a classic! Sure miss ya, Mr. Zappa.

It's a shame so many people can't get past lyrics. This piece (especially in it's entirity) is one of Zappa's more difficult compositions, musically. Problem is so many people just can't get thier ears past the lyrics to hear everything that's going on.
Zappa is high in the pantheon of musical geniuses. While his cynical humor had value it did get in the way of building, what could have been, an unprecedented musical legacy for the modern era. This is among the songs where Zappa really got in his own way.
Pure musical genius. And this from a man who won classical music awards.
