Based in London, and in my naivety, I must admit I also didn't even know that the Robbie Williams version was a cover/clone of this version - so thanks again for RP and Bill for widening my horizons, even after 15 years of listening, still learning and discovering new sounds and new tastes. I don't dislike it, but it's only ok, nothing special, but I just can't hear anything other than the 'Williams' version after some 20+ (?!) years after hearing it played on loop on commercial radio to death here in the UK in my teens, I had to double-take that RP and Bill were playing for a moment there.

Indeed it did.  It was used to very good effect in The Matchmaker (which is, incidentally one of the funniest movies of all time).  Love this song and love that film {#Hearteyes}

For me Robbie Wiliams was first, too. Didn't know it was a cover version either. In my opinion Robbie Williams' voice added something more wild to it though, I like his version better - considering that this still remains a boring cheesy song after all.

Back to the music now... Karl Wallinger and World Party were so fabulous in their day...until serious health issues derailed the music for a while. This is a lovely song, but - as others have noted - you should check out the album Goodbye Jumbo in particular, if you don't know the band. It's easily one of the best albums of the '90s. Private Revolution that preceded it and Bang! and Egyptology that followed were all excellent as well. For you 'Greatest Hits' types, try Best of Show from last year, which is heavily tilted toward the first two albums.

IMO those people take themselves too seriously and really need to get over it. It's their choice to be offended or not, actually. When someone says "Jesus!" or "Christ!", it has nothing to do with anyone else. It's just a common colloquialism. I can't be suppressing and holding myself back every time someone gets offended over this word or that word. Sure, there are some words that are truly nasty and have a really rotten history and I wouldn't say to anyone. But what if a whole group of people came along who decided to become offended every time someone said "man," (as in "Oh man, this really sucks!")? Would you stop using the word man like that? I wouldn't. Especially not in the name of peace. True peace comes from within, not from walking on eggshells every time we speak so as not to offend someone.
