Did they have a contest to come up with the stupidest concept for a song, and this won? Oh, yes. Let all yell horay for peter pumkinhead. Sheeeesh.
umm ... peter pumpkinhead is a metaphore for JFK. the song isn't stupid when you know what it's about! 'If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich' - JFK

I've heard of worse concepts. Probably all songs that you like, if you like any at all.
I usually try not to be negative... but this is flat out crap. Now I'm going to have this moronic tune in my head all day. Thanks.

Yes, he's not just an underdog, he's an underpumpkin. Oh, sorry... PUMKIN.

I uploaded the cover of this song by Crash Test Dummies but it was rejected :-( But I'll take this version.
ah, that explains that... didn't realize CTD version was a cover! I thought this song sounded familiar, but it sounded different that what I recalled. Either way, I'm singing along!
I had hoped to live my twilight years without ever hearing this utter pile of sh_t again. I die unfulfilled in this regard. The Crash Test Dummies version was somewhat better, but neither is worth writing home about.
Love the guitar at the beginning of this song. The drums kicking in solid doesn't hurt either. :)
The first album I ever bought in CD format, and I still have the slightly scratched and much-loved disc in rotation.

XTC is one of the best bands of the 80's. Play more XTC and The Fixx.
