Well, the mountain is steep
The ditches are deep
The task in hand
Is making us weep
But here's a promise
I intend to keep
Seed it in your mind
And say it each night
Before you sleep:
We will climb higher in time

You've got a head full of trouble
And a ship to build
You believe you won't make it
But you know you will
You feel you need your
Cup refilled
Fill it out of mine
We'll drop the defenses,
Pool our skill
And we will climb
Higher in time

I've been to the bottom
And I've been on the train
I've slept in the gutter
With my head in a drain
I've been brutally proud
I've been mortally shamed
But this is not a crime
I'm just learning, my friends,
That it's all in the game
And we will climb
Higher in time

Climb higher in time
Climb higher in time

A rating of 5 for this song must result from a computer glitch. Should be at least an 8. That's right, cause I said so.

There is a great live version of this which I love. (better that this - which I find a bit a noisy). Anyone uploaded The Galstonbury Song?

This is the sea is a classic. I think it came out in '85. I love Be my Enemy. I'm also a huuuuuuge fan of World Party. Karl is a great lyricist and guitarist.

Classic Waterboys - love it! Better, tho, is This is the Sea (@1990?), with the Whole of the Moon. Medicine Bow, etc. All the Things that She Gave Me (A Pagan Place) is a classic post-breakup rant. Mike Scott never did a well on his own, tho bandmate Karl Wallinger (World Party) remains a favorite of mine. Thanks!
