Lyrics:

I met this guy - and he looked like might have been a hat check clerk at an ice rink.
Which, in fact, he turned out to be.
And I said: Oh boy.
Right again.
Let X=X.
You know, it could be you.
It's a sky-blue sky.
Satellites are out tonight.
Let X=X.
You know, I could write a book.
And this book would be think enough to stun an ox. Cause I can see the future and it's a place - about 70 miles east of here.
Where it's lighter.
Linger on over here.
Got the time?
Let X=X.
I got this postcard.
And it read, it said: Dear Amigo - Dear Partner. Listen, uh - I just want to say thanks.
So...thanks.
Thanks for all the presents.
Thanks for introducing me to the Chief.
Thanks for putting on the feedbag.
Thanks for going all out.
Thanks for showing me your Swiss Army knife and uh - Thanks for letting me autograph your cast.
Hug and kisses. XXXXOOOO.
Oh yeah, P.S. I - feel - feel like - I am - in a burning building - and I gotta go.
Cause I - I feel - feel like - I am - in a burning building - and I gotta go.
More Laurie Anderson, please!
She´s a "Strange Angel"

I completly agree, this is a major artist and we need to hear more of her songs on the radio...specially RP

Alright Bill, Laurie on RP{#Clap}.  Next time though, you have to also include the It Tango.  Let X= X and It Tango are listed as a single piece on the original album, and play that way.  For some strange reason, however, the cd has a gap that makes it play as two separate numbers. Without the rest, its easy to understand why some folks don't like this.  It just stops, and you're left wondering  —  Huh?
Bill... you should check this track. It does seem to end partway through.

Oh, boy.  Right....again.

Nicely said. I greatly respect RP's catholic tastes.

But personally, I always want to kick L Anderson in the pants. Hard. With a Doc Martin's steel-toed boot. OK, I'll stop now.
holy mercy !

when i heard the timbre of the very first sound i said  "no way "

then i said ooohhh yeah ... right on  ...

i just want to say thanks .. so ... thanks ...
wait   wait  wait just a minute it just ended right   in the middle ....    wtf...
Love Laurie Anderson, she is just so Soho.
oh yah! this takes me back to the mid-80s and being part of fun and wacky dance improv classes to this and other LA pieces.
This is not good.
They could at least say Let x = x++.   Then we might get some where...

What an LP this was when it came out! Still is....sun's going down like a big bald head!

Big Science changed my life.
Anyone remember Night Flight on USA way back when?

I wasn't able to give this my full attention yesterday, but I hope to be able to in the future.

Ugh. I find this completely unlistenable. {#Yell}
More Laurie Anderson, please!
Nothing like an amazing trip to the avante guard for a Tuesday afternoon.  GREAT trip down memory lane.  I'll pull out the Laurie Anderson tonight for sure. Either you get this stuff or you're stupid.
Most Excellent.
I have this album, haven't listened to it in decades. . . and perhaps this song is why. But there are some good cuts on it.
Big mathematics. Hallelujah!
yahoo!

Thanks for puttin' on the feed bag.

No thanks.  I find this track to be quite irritating.

oh boy, right again.

this was kind of an anthem of ours back in the day..

...because otherwise what are the characters going to fall off of?..
Wonderful!  {#Clap}
I'm so happy to hear Laurie Anderson!  Usually the only way I hear her music is if I put it on my own stereo.
This is a great CD, though this cut isn't my fave off of it....

I adore the diversity here at RP!
Excellent!!!
Ah, Laurie Anderson. What a nice change of pace.

My favorite on this album is "Born, Never Asked" — her violin is great.
Woohoo!.... -   8.
Wow, this is genuinely annoying.

{#Notworthy}  she came through Eugene twice, the first show was when this disc came out, a feast for the eyes and senses,  was how I would describe the concert! Very eclectic, and have not seen any thing like it since!

As Delora says, sitting behind me, "I don't care for that."
Diggin this!  Way to go Bill.{#Yes}
Let RP = mute.
Yes, more Laurie Anderson please.

I just went through a bunch of her PSAs on YouTube.  Still great.

She and Lou Reed recently married.

'Bout time!

They've only been together for around 20-25 years I think.

That news makes me happy for some reason. Which is weird because yesterday a friend and I were discussing what bullshit marriage is, in both theory and practice. These two crazy kids just might make it work though. Some do.
Reminds me of The Portal Song.
Please shoot me.
Uhm... Uh... Is this thing on? If so, WHY??
YES! ok had this LP my first year in college in 80-81 Norman OK so coooool Linger on over here ... oh and uh ... hey Bill.. Thanks for goin all out love and kisses xxxx0000
Here I am in the middle of grading high school Calculus tests when this song comes along... Nice timing Bill, how did you know? Were you hiding behind my couch?

Sharkey's Day: Rejected. I may try "Ramon". There's a lot of good stuff on "Strange Angels". "I don't know about your brain, but mine's real .. bossy!"

saw her back in her hey-day... '86 i think? adrian belew was playing a rubber-necked guitar. it was great. so fun and entertaining. this makes me think of that show. although i own a bunch of her recordings, i don't get as much out of them because the visuals that were meant to accompany the music aren't there. if i had never seen her, i probably wouldn't enjoy this.
This is one of the ''songs'' she used to perform wearing a pair of skates stuck in a big ice cube. She kept performing until the ice melted and the skate blades touched the sidewalk then stopped.
I have this on vinyl, and even back then I would get such hostility from people who listened to it. All these years later, as then, I still don't care what they think. A very interesting, talented woman.
Laurie Anderson is AMAZING! Everything about the way she performs her music and creates her art is so insightful and accessible. I've listened to Radio Paradise for a few years now, and this is the first time I've heard Anderson played. Keep it up!
Huh?!

"Off center." Is that what crap is called these days?

I'm grading word problem exams as we speak; I'd give this answer 1 for at least trying
Laurie Anderson was my favorite artist from the 80s. I saw her in 2005 after she had been Artist in Residence at NASA (no kidding) and it was still really off-kilter, but not quite so entertaining 25 years later. Her art is observant, self-aware, and incredibly intellectual-yet-intuitive. It is beyond description...perhaps it is gestalt art in-the-here-and-now. It is transcendent. Even if you don't like this particular cut, all her other stuff is unexpected and fantastic. You will learn something about yourself listening to it and reacting. Great artist!
Thanks for showing me your Swiss Army knife. Thanks for letting me autograph your cast. Hug and kisses. XXXOOO
Like Dave Mack, I've never heard her before, either! Interesting stuff. What if Laurie Anderson and Thomas Dolby had a love child? "She blinded me with Big Science!"
...this album is awesome...great collection of "off-center" tunes...
Well, if Bill says so, I guess...
Excellent birds!
Yow. Never heard her before, I think. I thought I was hearing a semi-musical version of an Emo Phillips routine.
A rare gem! How about more tunes from this album.
A great intro to Laurie Anderson for me, I kind of avoided her. Fine pretty melody behind all the electronics.
Good? Yes
that segue wasn't so good.
A groundbreaking album. Solid 8 for sure
I just love Laurie Anderson! Saw her show finally last year and she was terrific.
Artistic? Yes. Geeky? Yes. Good? No. Belongs on RP? Bill said so.
Kudos to RP for playing Laurie Anderson...eclectic indeed!
it came on a tape while we were courting,, so i dig it. now i dug it, cuz shes'my' 'X' Holly crap! why did she give me that song ? holy crap!

Laurie Anderson is "Musical Performance as Art". This piece is very emotionally rich.
