She's a jar
With a heavy lid
My pop quiz kid
A sleepy kisser
A pretty war
With feelings hid
She begs me not to miss her

She says forever
To light a fuse
We could use
A handful of wheel
And a day off
And a bruised road
However, you might feel
Tonight is real

When I forget how to talk, I sing
Won't you please
Bring that flash to shine
And turn my eyes red
Unless they close
When you click
And my face gets sick
Stuck, like a question unposed

Just climb aboard
The tracks of a train's arm
In my fragile family tree
And watch me floating inches above
The people under me

Please beware the quiet front yard
I warned you
Before there were water skies
I warned you not to drive
Dry your eyes, you poor devil

Are there really ones like these?
The ones I dream
Float like leaves
And freeze to spread skeleton wings
I passed through before I knew you

I believe it's just because
Daddy's payday is not enough
Oh I believe it's all because
Daddy's payday is not enough

Just climb aboard
The tracks of a train's arm
In my fragile family tree

And watch me floating inches above
The people under me

She's a jar
With a heavy lid
My pop quiz kid
A sleepy kisser
A pretty war
With feelings hid
You know she begs me not to hit her

A fragile family tree...great line. Guitar is interesting as well - very soft glove to deliver the blow

more Wilco please.
Saw them last week in Rouen (France). Very good show, the musicians are virtuose. Maybe just a little bit too clean. A little plus of passion and it would be perfect! And i like this song.
The song that hooked me for Wilco

The worst part was the start, and it went downhill from there. A nailed-on Ho-Hum from the Nottingham jury. Wilco and out {#Sleep}

Uh-huh. Maybe it's just me. This band seems to try too hard to be unique - and they're not. "She's a jar" ... ? What the hell? And so bold to finish with a bang. Bleh.

Excuse me? "hit her"? Did I really just hear that?!
Oh, love. Just love. I love this song and this album.

Yeah, all right.  I'm starting to see what it is about these guys. . . .

Next thing you know you'll find yourself standing in front of a 30-foot wall of speakers as the sound washes over you, arms out like jesus on the cross, crying a little and smiling a lot, then walking home wondering where that came from.

Wait—that was me. Nevermind.

I like a lot of Wilco tracks, but this one is a snoozer.
Yeah, all right.  I'm starting to see what it is about these guys. . . .

aw Wilco - I just love ya to pieces...
Thanks for playing this today (and informing me of the sad news), RP.  Rest in peace, Jay Bennett.
It is Memorial Day here in the States. I am at work. Life of a contractor. But it is all good I have RP playing and I am adding the first comment on this song.

Rock on WORLD!
