I see trees of green, red roses, too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I say to myself
What a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
Bright sunny days, dark sacred nights
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Colors of the rainbow are so pretty in the skies
Are also on the faces of people walkin' by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin', "How do you do?"
They're really sayin', "I love you"

I see babies cry, what watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world

And I say to myself
What a wonderful world

I was not expecting to like this, but I definitely do. It's not up there with Darlene Love doing "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home" on Letterman, but it's still pretty good.

The Ramones, uniting the world's lowest achievers.
EXCELLENT!
Love that this preceded “In a Little While” and now I know why.

Joey Ramone died at the age of 49 following a seven-year battle with lymphoma at New York-Presbyterian Hospital on April 15, 2001, a month before he would have turned 50.[13] He was reportedly listening to the song "In a Little While" by U2 when he died.[14] In an interview in 2014 for Radio 538, U2 lead singer Bono confirmed that Joey Ramone's family told him that Ramone listened to the song before he died, which Andy Shernoff (The Dictators) also confirmed

Rebecca: I don't like reggae no no I really really dislike it, but thanks to you I understand it. You and Bill could have easily accepted my offer, I know $500 I sent in 2002, let alone the $5k I would have if you stopped playing reggae right then and there would have been beyond helpful - but you of course made the right call. Thank you for teaching me a lesson I never forgot hopefully now I can teach you one.

Thanks,

Some serious thought went into this.  Thank you, Bill.

So why not give it another spin on 3 November 2020.

The day the US voters decide whether the world will have to endure another 4 years of polarization or ... Yeah whatever. Does it make any difference? Don't worry about me.
The writers, Bob Thiele aka George Douglas and George David Weiss give their blessing as does Louis Armstrong from on high.

brings a tear to my eye
I really needed to hear any version of this song today. ANY version. So this gets a bump up to 9.
This was done in a very respectful way. Not a usual punk cover
With riff of the Sex Pistols = cool
Bohemian Rhapsody followed by this ..... it shouldn't work, but it does!
I wonder what Louis Armstrong would think.

This came on as I was reading the obit for the artist Jason Polan in this morning's New York Times.

(Damn, Bill! Your timing is extraordinary.)

About Polan, an art critic wrote: "His most significant accomplishment is that he has taken seemingly random things from everyday life, internalized them and made them into something highly personal."

It was indeed a wonderful world when seen through Polan's eyes.
This album cover looks like Joey is in transition.
Absolute NO!

I agree with you.
Forest Hills, Queens!!!
The music is saving me from a Monday morning working blues.  Head-bopping at my desk at 7:24 am and my mood is elevated!
I have a thing for cover versions.  The farther out there the better usually.  Fun to imagine Louis Armstrong in 1967 hearing this song.  Probably would have hated it unless he was really high.

Great to hear Joey on RP!  {#Bananajam}
Pretty good, but the original is far better...
Good fun!
Nice cover, Joey!  Hope all is well in your "world" these days.

P.S.- I always get a laugh when your "Maria Bartiromo" song pops up randomly on my 10 year-old iPod.
No!
Just, "no"...
Great cover!
I don't mind the U2 song but it doesn't come close to catching the spirit of Joey. Even this cheese is more fun.

Still, I give 'em both a 7, for different reasons.

Now it's followed up with Joy Division. Great set overall.
Hey the sun came out today, why not celebrate?
Always HATED this song but not this version. Joey knows how to treat it.
An unnecessary remake, imo!
I gotta admit, Bill, this is a bit weird. Now I really DO wanna be sedated. {#Wall}

A little stronger than I'd go, but yeah, I hear you.

I love a lot of the stuff they turned out through the years, but this just doesn't do much for me.

Isn't this the album with the song for Maria Bartiromo. CNBC's Money Honey... Joey will be missed.

I wondered where she came from when she showed up at Fox Business this past summer.

7 for now ...
Uh, no.
Should be followed by the Sid Vicious version of My Way.
It is always nice to hear the Ramones on a Friday afternoon !

What would Satchmo think? Certainly a different feel, nice execution.
Um. No.
I was going to give it a "0" but then I saw it was a Ramone...I gave it a 3 simply because it is one well respected artist to another trying to pay tribute, but it doesnt work for me.
No thanks.

jeeez, what is with all of the poopy attitudes? Joey was showing a delicate side, and it rocks!!

I miss Joey

Most excellent tune!
Such a rosy outlook from someone looking down the barrel of cancer. Personally, my favorite version of this song is the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole medley with Over The Rainbow but Joey takes it somewhere else...
At first I was thinking WTF? But after a bit I'm sort of liking it. Not a work of art, but certainly fun, silly and lively. I'll give it a 5 or 6.

I love Joey. A fun song.

I bet Louis would kick it from here to hell and back. What a mangling of one of my all-time favourite feel-good songs. 2 from the Nottingham jury.
Hahahahaha, well... at least it does bring up some heavy reactions...
Arf!
Some songs should not be covered. Certainly by Joey Ramone.......

No way - this just doesn't work. Maybe some other artist can try it, but I kept wishing for Louis Armstrong to muscle Joey off my computer.

How to destroy a classic song
nice twist.
Pointless divergent-cross-genre remakes usually annoy me in grand fashion. But somehow this one works. I think it works because it seems sincere rather than just "let's put a radically different spin on an old song."
Rock out with your c*ck out! \:D/

A great cover from Joey's solo CD. It's even more impressive when you realize that Joey was dying from cancer when he recorded this CD. Joey and The Ramones changed EVERYTHING. They could pack more energy into a 2 minute song than most band could get in a double album of navel gazing garbage. They are finally getting the respect they deserve as being one of the most influential bands in rock history. Juat listen to "Hey Ho!, The Ramones Anthology", and you'll get it
nope....

Fun is an elusive concept, indeed!

As someone who has always cringed and switched the station every time that sappy, maudlin Louis Armstrong recording came on, I can honestly say I find this refreshing. I can actually listen to it.
H'm... next. Ramones never needed this.
yup, another crappy cover...

go rent End of the Century have a beer watch it maybe it will make more sense then
A bit like Sid Vicious did My Way. Just like it's his goodbye. Moving in that respect.

Um, for fun? Or a goof? Or just for "the hell of it"?

Points for deviation from the original. The flattery ends there, however.

A tribute to a great song from the King of one genre by the King of another Genre. If a song is good, it will bear analysis and Joey could never taint the original. Nothing is sacred. It's all been done before... .I can just now hear the fist bagpipes ramping up at IrishFest beginning on Milwuakees SummerFest grounds today......what a great sound....

I agree! I think Joey made this version totally out of respect for the original. And that he made it while dying of cancer just goes to show what he was made of! Rock on, Joey! You will be missed!

it's not horrific...but some songs don't need to be messed with like that, and this is one of them
