a new song to listen to while metal detecting!
I'm sorry, but no I just cannot get past it: This band's/guy's name is so ridiculous, even now that I've heard their music and like it I can't feel alright about saying "Yeah, I like Badly Drawn Boy". Music: Name:
I started my love for BDB with the About a Boy soundtrack. I've picked up multiple records since - it was a good entrance to them for me.
Hey, I like this, its different.
This is good - give it a chance.
This song is nothing much... But BDB has a bunch of great songs, so I forgive him...

He's really not bad, he's just drawn that way.
bwaa hahahaaa! sigh.
Great! Definately listen to Hour Of Bewilderbeast before you get into other BDB. Unless you like saving the best for last...
Repetitive... repetitive... repetitive...
I don't think The Hours of Bewilderbeast is the best way to get into BDB. Listen to One Plus One is One first. It's amazing. I really don't like this song.

I've been trying to determine whether this is a good band or whether the song on the About a Boy soundtrack was a one-shot deal. Good to hear another good song by the artist. Would love to hear more.
I like the Hour of Bewilderbeast as a whole album rather than as a collection of individual songs. It's got a nice flow and overall feel/theme. I would encourage you to give the album a try rather than trying to judge BDB just on the few songs you might hear here.
First riff always reminds me of Pavement... it goes downhill after that.

I totally agree with the last comment. One more song I don't like and I'm outta here.
Buh-bye...
Get a life, fredriley. There's nothing standard about it. And great pop has always been about the hook that comes round and round and round and ...a fredriley wrote:

Boy I loved this album when it came out in 2000. Liked the "About a Boy" soundtrack too. Then what happened? His later stuff just didn't seem as inspired, in my opinion. Big letdown. I was expecting great things from him in this decade. Oh well. Still like this disc.
This sounds like a slower, less fun brother of Cornershop's "Brimful of Asha."

er, no - check out Half Man, Half Biscuit (great band, great song titles. What about All I Want for Christmas is a Dukla Prague Away Kit ? Or is the esoteric European football reference lost on you Yanks?)
Not to mention songs like "Trumpton Riots" and "Dicky Davies Eyes" which includes the wonderful line "Brian Moore's Head looks uncannily like London Planetarium". Yep, I think they're pretty esoteric footie references even for many Brits, let alone those across The Pond. Very funny band, though, and absolutely bonkers - well, you have to be to support Tranmere Rovers ;-)
Badly Dressed Bloke.

There's another one?!!? Nope..
Like it.

Likewise - Call me picky but I just don't think BDB can sing (with or without his bobble hat probably!)

Great CD! and love this song, too.
I bought this CD right after it came out because a co-worker at the time (whose musical taste I implicitly trusted) raved about it for days. So at her insistence, I bought it. After listening to it a few times, it did nothing for me and I think I ended up selling it or giving it away. Anyway, fast foward a few years. I get addicted to RP. After hearing a couple of songs off of it I start thinking, "hmm this isn't bad." End of buying it again, liking it and wondering, "what was I thinking about when I first listened to this." Moral of this story. Never sell any CD's.

I'm digging it; but, being a dog, I dig a lot of stuff. First listening for me. To my (highly sensitive dog) ears, the vocals are a bit overwhelmed by the percussion work. Me too, rates a 'maybe' for now.

Love BDB and this record, but there are so many better tracks that people might like prefer. If you heard "The Shining" for instance, you might see what we love about him.
It just doesn't strike a cord in me.. too cold..I guess...

I keep listening to this CD and can't quite get over the feeling that I'm working too hard at liking it. Whenever I hear this song in a set or out of the CD context, however, I like it. Weird.
I find I like a number of songs more on RP than on my massive home stereo. Makes you wonder. Thanks for the warning re this CD. It was on my "Maybe" list.
