So, he's lying on top again
Just like Gepetto with his doll
And he's running around again
And I can't get him out of this house

And if you bore him, you lose your soul to him

So, that kid from the bad home came over my house again
Decapitated all my dolls

And if you bore me, you lose your soul to me

Hey, Gepetto, where'd you put it?
Poor, Gepetto, poor, poor

And if you bore him, you're gonna lose your soul

Hey Gepetto, where'd you get me?
Poor Gepetto, poor, poor

So, he's lying on top again
Just like Gepetto

Cool song, awesome album.
Geppetto... double P...
Good tune! I never heard of them prior to RP. Now I like several of their tunes. Thank You RP!
happily rediscovering Throwing Muses and Belly and Hirsh and Narcizo's  etc stuff again, just brilliant music, their youth and confidence just pulsate out of the speakers
Follow this with Judy Staring at the Sun by Catherine Wheel.

Love it. In fact I'm off for the album. That slow dog is hit again.
7 -> 9

I usually don't vibe to Belly like i just did, but that was a bittersweet head-nodder feet stomper
Ahhhh Tanya, lilting vocals and greasy hair... {#Angel}
I get a lovely warm nostalgic feeling from this song

According to Wikipedia, apparently they are?

Actually anything that Tanya sings is fine by me.
There are very few albums which stand repeated listens over many years, this is one them. Some great songs - this isn't my favourite, but still warrants an 8 from me. On the surface it's a pop song, but they rarely hold my attention - I don't why this does, but it does, and continues to do so after 24 years, along with the rest of the album.
I saw Belly in 95 in Duren...they supported The Cranberries, Oasis and REM  and, IMHO, they were the best band on the day...c'est la vie...

YES! A great song from one of my FAVORITE albums! {#Guitarist}

"Decapitated all my dolls..." You don't hear lyrics like that every day. {#Good-vibes}

My taste be on my tongue...

love this song...  we be dancing...

Captures my hope for eventual springtime.  Fluffy, vaporous, sunny, smiley ... springtime, no?

If all you haters stop your streaming, does that mean I get better bandwidth — and more springtime hopefulness —  through my crappy 1/2-inch computer speakers?
Hey, shouty - shouty

This song is brilliant - brilliant.

Poor boy.

Yup, Belly has a couple of good songs, this isn't one of them. Too generic sounding.
"Music"?  Really?

Not in it of itself, but commercial appeal and dislike are very good friends and are rarely seen without the other.

The spectre of Spectre.
Can it get any worse...?
i think we're on a good role here. like this one too

Ouch.

Like the tempo and mood of the song, the voice not so much...

Actually, it's not..... At least not for my ears, this huge wall of sound is just penetrating my ears with brute strength, very badly produced....

I've been listening to this CD a lot recently and there are 3 really great cuts on it. That alone in my book makes it more than worth it. Still gotta get into the other stuff but....

  out of your list from WAY back in the nineties, I've heard of the smash pumpkins. HAH!  guess I was too busy working and listening to WMNU radio.  some guy on there played the nitetime, Issa Katheamaki, or something like that.  he played the coolest stuff.  no idea what.

Ok, I like this song. Just don't tell anybody!{#Shhh}

Belly's best song....Thanks RP!

OK...I'm replying to my own post to say it brightened my morning to hear Tanya's voice yet again on RP. Thanks Bill! {#Good-vibes}
I LOVED Tanya Donnelly (sp?) when she was with Throwing Muses, but I never really warmed up to Belly...{#Eh}

I saw Belly in a small club in Champaign Illinois in... 1993? Whenever it was they were touring for this album. Anyway, earlier that day I was walking down Green Street with a friend, who pointed out that Tanya was walking right in front of us. Just then, Tanya turned around and flipped off someone across the street from us -- double-barreled middle fingers -- with a big grin on her face.
anyone ever hear of emmet swimming? seems like the guitar/bass/drums are eerly similar who knows maybe they ripped off belly
That's disturbing... even more than the song...
To paraphrase an ancient Hebrew prayer, If Belly had given us only "Star," that would have been enough. Great stuff, 9.
This song has aged really well, I like it better now than when it used to get played endlessly on JJJ.

This time was a golden age for me... middle of high school... spent a summer listening to nothing but Weezer, Belly, and STP (as those were the only CDs I had with me)... great times *sigh*
I like the amount of Belly I've been hearing lately - just enough! Thanks

Oh, me too!
You can't call The Cardigan's bubble gum if your also listening to this. Just a comment. Actually I think they are better than the Cardigans but maybe not as diverse.
Two Belly cuts in one day.....cool. Never understood why TD and Belly weren't bigger in the 90's

Now, how does Queensryche and Candlebox fit in all of that (besides the 90's)? Just teasing. I like Queensryche, too. Oh... "Gepetto" is an 8 from me. Love Belly
... Ha! Artist Web Site link takes you to a crime movie called Belly? ... ( anygood anybody?) ... ...
Always liked Tonya's work...
Sadly underappreciated.

Nice. A fine tune from back in the day.
I was surprised how much some of the tunes on this sound like Go Go's on slow mo... Good disc, though.
this whole cd rocks
This is one of those that could go either way for me -- if I hear it more times I might end up really liking it. It's got some real cool base and rythm. But it could also go the other way -- I might end up hating it after hearing more. I'll guess I'll have to wait for RP to play it a dozen or so more times before the jury decides.
YES!!! Love Belly! Don't hear much from them. More , please! A 9. :goodvibes.gif: :sunny.gif: :goodvibes.gif:
First time I've heard this track, and I'm really liking it. I love Feed the Tree ---- that deserves some more time in the rotation too!
I uploaded this song some time ago. Now that the upload tool is fixed, I'll be uploading more out of my collection. Hopefully I have some more files accepted! Stephen

Yes indeed. I keep thinking of Honeytree (the real Ramona) when I hear this.
Hooray for Belly! Nice add to the mix - fun for Spring swinging into Summer. Keep the nice surprises coming...
