Ok, one more song that annoys me and RP is done for the day

I'm having a kneejerk reaction to that phrase "awful ladyrock." You're a jerk, and I wish to knee you.
Heh! That was awesome.
The drums are so flat it kills the song. Shame.
I don't know why but that song reaches me.
don't really diagree with the aformentioned except.....it goes on way, way, way too long. And that makes it a six.
I really thought it was Suzanne Vega until I looked at the playlist. Nice voice, nice instrumentals - smooth sound, spiky lyrics. Worth an 8.

"You're a jerk, and I wish to knee you." That's hilarious! PS. Hem is better, but this is okay too.

Silly, rgj13, didn't you know you needed to keep posting the same thing once a month for 2 years? Otherwise, everyone else has to! Very pretty song that stands well on its own and in comparison to others.
Nice. At first I thought this was a Terri Hendrix song I had never heard before.

I thought it was Shawn Colvin as well. Nice track.
I guess I'm in the minority, but I like the song, the singer, the guitar work...all of it. Beats the crap out of a lot of the other stuff people here fawn over endlessly.
Laaayddeeess, This one is for you!!!!

i can see this being ok at the right time with a special lady friend. but 1:11 on a wednesday is not that time and this is just too slow :(
Cousin of Mariah?

Awful ladyrock. There is so much of this generic 'soulful' tripe out there, and it's rubbish.

7 desserved! : ) Lovelly vocals from a woman, OScar

Real soothing to the soul. Not even a tad overbearing or tiring.

Actually, this is very reminiscent of Jonatha Brooke with Gerry Leonard on guitar. Check out Gerry's "Spooky Ghost" CD, and any CD by Jonatha, though I think her recent "Back In the Circus" isn't her best effort. www.jonathabrooke.com
I couldn't agree more. In fact, I initially thought I was listening to Jonatha, so had to look. BTW, Gerry is highly underrated, IMHO. I LOVE his work!
Really like the instrumental work. The rest of it doesn't do anything for me. Not a fan of the Shawn Colvin / Edie Brickell genre of female singers.

Our band has shared the stage with Edie at several gigs, and I can attest that she is not only a really kind and beautiful person, but a GREAT performer live. If you get a chance, and she's near your location, go see her and tell her Leah's bass player Paul is still in love with her. ;-)
Something sad and pitiful about that last comment...

Breathiness is annoying to me. This gets a 2 for being blander than cardboard
If you have ever heard of Gibb Droll, this is ALOT like his style. I was looking around the net with RP in the background and had to stop and see if it was Gibb. Awesome stuff.
very nice
If a man expressed these emotions to a woman: 1. she would call the police. 2. she would have a restraining order issued against him.

i'd like to hear her do a duet with shawn. :-k might be cool
Shawn Colvin + Lisa Loeb + GenericSingerSongwriter Pleasant, yawn... I give it a 7 (but I probably should give it a 6)
I was just thinking this exact same thing. They sound so amazingly similar. Stumptown rocks!! 8) spiritman wrote:
I agree. Kept thinking it was Shawn's voice and that the name was a mistake!
Sounds like a more folky, less spooky Tori Amos. Pretty decent.
Has a great combination of voice, melody, instrumentation, lyrics... the same combinations that brings success to the likes of Colvin, Brickell, etc. Good is always good, unless one thinks they're copying. :daisy.gif:

Very tasty.... another artist I've not heard of until RP. Thanks!
this song really grew on me, gently prying into my consciousness from the background.
