Wow. It's been years since I heard this. Still extremely powerful.

Thanks for having it in the rotation, Bill. I happened upon it with the Play Something Different button — good choice for me.

perhaps you hate being vulnerable to music. it's true that this was a very powerful song, in context. perhaps it hasn't the same ring for the new generation. it still holds for me, but i'm an easy mark for that era. king, the war, johnson ...

I can understand how you feel (and normally I feel the same way), but this particular piece at this particular point in time really resonated. (Also, to be honest, I was busy examining the strength of my reaction and not listening to the specific words, just the general topic.)
