Konung Vallemo gick åt stallet in
och Blacken så lägger han sadeln uppå

Å när han kom till grevens gård
så gnägga Blacken murarna ifrå

Och Blacken lyfte upp sin fot
den slog han i Grevens hjärterot

Så satte hon på Blackens bak
så rider hon hem uti god mak

translation:

(from lyricstranslate.com)

King Vallemo was a wise old man.
He married off his daughter in a foreign land.

One day she stood in her bridal gown,
The next in bands of iron bound.

"And why do you do this to me?"
"For you were no maiden when you came to me."

"Oh had I a trusty friend and true
To carry these words to my father now!"

Then the old vulture came to her:
"Let me be your speedy messenger.

"If I could get food for my young from you,
I could be there in an hour or two."

"Then lay your young at my breast, if you will,
So that while you are gone they may eat their fill."

"King Vallemo, here you sit free from sorrow.
Your daughter will burn at the stake tomorrow."

"Fly away, old vulture, as quick as you can -
My daughter has married an honest man."

"If you won't believe what you hear from me
Look here at my claw, I am carrying her key.

" King Vallemo into the stable strode,
Saddled his black horse, and off he rode.

And when they came to the foreign lord's hall
The black horse whinnied high up on the wall.

The black horse lifted his mighty foot
And struck the lord in his cruel heart's root.

Then the king and his daughter sat on the black steed
And rode back home at a gentle speed.

Fine for the entertainment during the vote on Eurovision Song Contest but nothing more than that.

Incredibly hard to sit still while this is playing-let the chair dancing begin..
a great song and a cool band.
This reminds me of an Estonian folk rock band called Oort that my Estonian friends put me onto back in 2001 - their self-titled album is great, the song Mehetapja Maie was my favourite, builds in an amazing way!

Also hello from Melbourne Australia! And thank you to my Naim sound system for awakening me to this fantastic radio station

Great piece in need of a good producer/sound engineer team. Could be so good…

I assume Garmarna and their producer wanted the serious distortion.  Many artists, including guitar players by the thousands, intentionally push their tube amps to the limit to achieve just the right type of distortion.

You can find electronic devices that will simulate tube amp distortions in case you can't afford a real-life tube amp.
I'm a Swedophile! Shoot me! Great stuff!
Awesome!

this is really enjoyable, but the banana needs to dance FASTER ;)

I don't know what these lyrics are saying, but I like to think it's a spaghetti sauce recipe.

Add about a half teaspoon of oregano
But don't add too much or it will make it taste salty

or something like that.

I love Sweden. Swedes are kind, cultured people. Why would they torture people with this screaching?

I would love to segue this with Yat-Kha's "Come Along" How about it Bill?

a bit af swedish trivia, here we go: The Garm is a creature from our ancient nordic myths. Its is a bound dog that is kept in the underground (gnupahålan), and his bark is said to foretell the end of the world 8-< more info about Garmarna here: https://www.garmarna.com/

Yes, the swedish text is like something written in the medieval ages. Very grim and dark sung, the english translation is very close too the swedish text.
The text is traditional, probably very old, judging from the Swedish lyrics.
The Vulture: Lyrics in Swedish and English And this from a review at rhythmus.net : "Vengeance is a collection of woeful songs that fill the listener with both dread and wonder. Emma HÀrdelin, the singer of these songs, provides the focus in a collection of songs that call up the winds and whisper dreadful things in your ear."
This rocks. 'Course I would like to know what she's all worked up about.
This song just... works. I can't describe it better than that. The energy from the drumline and distortion, coupled with the fanciful flights from the strings and her gorgeous voice. I'll be dancing about the warehouse for a bit. Anyone care to visit? I need someone to partner. =)
