Heaven bend to take my hand
And lead me through the fire
Be the long awaited answer
To a long and painful fight
Truth be told I've tried my best
But somewhere 'long the way
I got caught up in all there was to offer
And the cost was so much more than I could bear

Though I've tried I've fallen
I have sunk so low
I messed up
Better I should know
So don't come 'round here and
Tell me I told you so

We all begin with good intent
When love was raw and young
We believe that we can change ourselves
The past can be undone
But we carry on our back the burden time always reveals
In the lonely light of morning
In the wound that would not heal
It's the bitter taste of losing everything
That I've held so dear

I've fallen
I have sunk so low
I messed up
Better I should know
So don't come 'round here and
Tell me I told you so

Heaven bend to take my hand
I've nowhere left to turn
I'm lost to those I thought were friends
To everyone I know
Oh they turn their heads embarrassed
Pretend that they don't see
That it's one missed step one slip before you know it
And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed

Though I've tried I've fallen
I have sunk so low
I messed up
Better I should know
So don't come 'round here and
Tell me I told you so
I messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here and
Tell me I told you so

That! And I don't care for it much.

It is indeed ok.
I met her in an elevator in Vancouver. She smiled sweetly and said hello. She was very petite!
We saw her live at Red Rocks in Colorado in 2019 - she is just as AMAZING live.

Another song for the hard of thinking. I bet this goes down well with teenage girls or menopausal women in Scandanavia.

I'm a 63 year-old man living in England with an IQ of 157 and I love this, so you can shove your borked thesis up your shitpipe.
This song came out in my early university days when I was going through a bunch of crap and bouncing between bad relationships.. What can I say, there's a certain amount of nostalgia in my rating, but I still enjoy the music.
My wife loves Sarah, and I love my wife, so I love Sarah.
Dear Sarah,
I have fallen, as many others have, but again I will rise...

Sarah got me through the pain of a ugly divorce (and uglier marriage) in the 90s. I will always think of fondly of her. Beautiful voice and beautiful music, and from what I can surmise from afar, a beautiful person.
That last....Harry....the more you guys play his stuff, the more I wanna download! lol Love his style & sound! Thnx for, hands down, the most enjoyable listening experience on the airwaves! God bless.
Great tune but 'Answer' and 'Time' are the album masterpieces.
Sarah McLachlan, my biggest guilty pleasure.
with a quick glance above at the album cover and her first name
i thought why is RP playing Sarah Evans?
.

yes, but some lose more than others depending on how it was encoded.   I agree this does not sound 192k quality, but Its not her best song either.

The source on this is a (lossless) FLAC file copied directly from the CD.  So I guess you'd need to blame the producer & mastering engineer for any sonic faults — though it sounds pretty OK to me.

Not her greatest, but I'll take it {#Angel}
If someone put a gun to my head and screamed "RDO WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS SONG!".  I would answer:  "NOT BAD!"
This is just sentimental enough to keep me hooked. Sarah thank you.

An angel for sure.  Such soulful tunes.  I never tire of SM's voice.........
This song could be my life story, sigh.

i think this has been through some heavy lossy compression .. it has a "metallic" 64kbit MP3 sound to it

Very cool.  Washed that Younger Brother right out of my head - cheers for that.
Her words melt like butter dripping thru my mind.
And iIdid adopt a shelter dog.  Thanks, Sarah.

Perhaps, but her Industrial/Klezmer stuff is quite a departure.

Now I know what the song "Dirty Little Secret" from the same album is about...

Love this song.
She has a magical, mystical quality to her voice; it effortlessly floats through the physical and touches the soul.
Always loved this album, and my god she looks great on the cover.

Fumbling Towards Ecstasy (together with The Freedom Sessions, different versions of the same songs) is by far her best album, I think. So I'll quickly agree with that...

All of Sarah McLachlan's music puts me in a nice mellow mood. Helps erase some of the bumps in the road. Thanks for this selection.

Have to admit, now I'm morbidly curious...
Just a little slice of heaven...
I like easy music every so often. Solid 7. Sounds like alot of her other stuff but that voice is the best...

My god this is boring and annoying. Can't find anything interesting in this song, unfortunately :(
I love Sarah !!!
... yea, wasn't wrong, still delightful
Beaudiful!
From Radiohead to Sarah... just plain yummy!
Her voice does something to me. Something that ought not be described in excessive detail on a public forum. Suffice it to say I enjoy the effect. But it sort of makes me feel sick at the same time. How can I give a 9 to something that turns my stomach? Odd that.
Agreed. I'll take Mirrorball over this album anyday. Trustocity wrote:

If this isn't ho-hum, I don't know what is.

You mean even more touching than the ogres passing gas underwater in Shrek 2? That's impressive.

So much can change... Timing.....
Yeah!! Tonight in Munich - Sarah live! Can't wait to hear and see... Sure worth a 2,5 hours drive while snowing...
This woman can do no wrong...Once in your life, if you're lucky, you meet a woman like this...an Angel on Earth

I've got kids, so we went to see the Toy Story movies, naturally. Sarah's voice was so perfect for the Toy Story 2 song, it made a grown man cry. Actually, the whole sequence ripped my heart out. Amazing what the perfect combination of story, art and song can do. Could be the most touching moment in all of Disneydom.
Was that where the Cowgirl gets left roadside? Yeah, that was surprisingly poignant....very relatable(?) I guess.

I like this CD, but after such a long break, I thought maybe Sarah would come back with some varied sound or whatever. This album sounds a lot like many of her albums, which is not a bad thing, I was just hoping to hear that maybe she expanded her sound a bit. However, I really, really like this song and do recommend the CD.
I completely agree Sara. When her first album came out I was very excited. Her sound was new and fresh, as was her voice. She seems to have churned out the same stuff ever since and I have not been inclined to buy any of her subsequent albums.
Goodness, what did she do that was so wrong? I'll forgive you Sarah!!!
Sounds very similar to her other stuff. She's good, but definitely not me style.
I love listening to Sarah. My favorite song of hers is Possession but I like this one, too.
On a technical note, it seems the song was encoded in mono.
Just proves that me having ordered the CD is a good decission :)

Oh my, what relief after that dreadful Tori Amos wailing.
agreed. this is great.
I love this song, but why did they mix the chorus vocals with dreadfull detuned double tracking- she has a great voice for goodness sake. It was the sort of vocal trick they used on Kylie Minogue in the 80s before vocal pitch shifting / correcting software became available. Compared to the gentle double tracking, vocal doubling they are using on Tori Amos track now playing "Playboy Mommy" Still love the song though
angelic? a siren? however you want to describe her voice, it doesnt do it justice...just listen
She takes me on the most amazing free fall... it's better than any drug... Her voice is amazing... I close my eyes and I imagine it's what heaven feels like...(if there is such a place) O:) Thanks radio paradise
"Surfacing" was certainly not my favorite of hers, but even then I thought she was good. Fumbling... is by far my favorite. Let's hope she finds that level again... This sounds nice... How's the new album?

Que Sarah, sarah. She still has the best voice out there.
Yep, pretty much.
Such great grieving music. She is growing lyrically, I think, even if it sounds similiar to what she's done before. She is still a great poet, who happens to have a phenomenal voice

Its a nice sound. I have her album Surfacing and I love it. I looked at this album a few weeks ago but didn't get it because I wosn't sure what it would be like after such a long break.

Have to agree. I love Sarah, but it seems like a long wait for a somewhat average release. I'm sure I'll buy it anyway.
pretty song. maybe sarah is the one artist you can count on to always sound the same...in a good way.
I love this woman; I even like to listen to her sing....

She's back!!!! I love this song, doing what she does best.
