For what it is worth, according to Wikipedia, autotune was not invented until 1997.  The release date is 1994 for this recording.

I bought this CD from a record store (Silver Platters) back in 97 or 98, and the packaging included a black band wrapped around the middle, under the cellophane. I thought it was pretty ridiculous.  Little kids can see more in the National Geographic magazine in the doctor's office.....

Now, see, there's a MASSIVE difference between government-mandated censorship and community-agreed-upon censorship, and I'm a little annoyed you made that leap. It wouldn't even have to be censorship for all users; it could be a simple profile option for individual users "hide flagged album art", similar to Google SafeSearch. The album tends to follow (maybe 'wallow in' for some) this general ambience. I heard this on RP and, having Amoeba Music available within walking distance, was able to pick this up for about $3. Worth it.

Yesterday, I heard this song on RP. It was the first time I heard "Little Suicides" since I was in High School. For me, it was interesting to listen to it, with the perspective of a 31 year old and interpret it completely differently than how I did at 18. I've been humming and singing the refrain since. Time is interesting.

I like a lot of GP music, along with Lori Carson solo work. but my wife hates it. we like it and hate it for the same reasons. for me, Carson's breathy vocal style is kind of mystical. for my wife, Carson's breathy vocal style, and others like her, are just, well, breathy.

The band is drummer Anton Fier's project. He has a revolving cast of musicians & singers, which have included T-bone Burnett, Jack Bruce, Michael Stipe, Matthew Sweet, Johnny Rotten, Syd Straw etc. 1986's Blast of Silence is a great one.

I uploaded Alive and Living Now, the Michael Stipe song, and it was added to the playlist a couple weeks ago but hasn't been played. There's another song from the same album, Drunk with Passion, with Bob Mould (Dying from the Inside Out).
