What?

Stars can't fight city lights
They've turned their backs on us
It's true today, I saw it from the plane
Aeroplanes were never built to fly

Down down down down
Down down down down down down
Don't look down
Don't look now

Crosshairs of our shadow trace the dam
Told that there were people trapped alive
Boulder City looks like coals in the fire

Cabin's perched by satellites
And now it's flying down
We've got a lady pilot
She's not afraid to die

It's true today, I saw it from the plane
We've almost finished reeling in the sky
Power lines once laced the heavens
Pima County looks like coals in the fire

if you combined all her songs together, it would all sound like one whole song.

that didn't come out correctly. to me, all her songs sound exactly like each other.

except when she's doing anything with the new pornographers. that stuff is awesome.
I've posted it so many times before in here but she never replies. Neko! Marry me!!!

Apparently, a tenor guitar is also known as a "four-string guitar".

CASE: I was getting on a plane going to Tuscon, Arizona, to do some recording. I was really happy, and I thought, "My life is so good, this is gonna be the part when the plane crashes." I was feeling ultra-superstitious. And then I got on the plane, and the pilot was a woman, and she was wearing a skirt, she had red hair, and she was foxy. And I thought, "Oh, cool, I've got a lady pilot. I'm not gonna die!"

Love.

That is all.
In my next life I want to be Neko...beautiful, talented, brilliant and funny. She's the perfect woman.

Until then, I'll just be me. :(
I've got tickets for her July 13th show here in Richmond.

Can't wait.
i do love this. sorry beez!
Great song, great voice, love Neko.

Ambrosia.
Well I am quite fond of her 50s/80s alt new-wave/country sound... nice juxtaposition of style and sound

Hey Bill,
there may be a bit of a technical issue. certain songs have relaly bad sound quality. lots of distortion and no highs. I am posting this here because this song just followed an awesome sounding ben harper song. (super clean), It sounds terrible. The difference even shows up on my crude spectrum analyzer. There is nothing above like 8000hz. Then a song by "the coral" came on and it sounded good again. The other day you played Zepplin's "no quarter" and it sounded horrible too. That song should sound great. I switched players and streams and the issue seems to be related only to the mp3 or song itself. changing players made no difference, but then the next song sounds great again.
I usually listen on octoshape 128 and play it through some high end McIntosh (not apple) Audio gear so the flaws really show up.
hope this helps you find it.
If someone on the list knows where better to post this, please feel free to cut and paste it there. Thanks!
Love RP!

may not be the place to post this but......
since most of the song files are uploaded to RP through the LRC, or Bill rips and encodes them from CD's, it may have to do with several or all of the following:
poor studio equipment/habits (on the recording)
use of a poor copy to rip/encode
use of an inferior encoder to mp3 (LAME encoder is the best sounding that I've come across)
The fact that your listening to it on better equipment just points out the differences.
You should notice a huge variance in sound just from CD's.
So this is no different.

Can't seem to get enough of her angelic voice. no one like her.
Saw Neko Case at the Bijou in Knoxville, TN a couple of weeks ago and the show was incredible! If you get a chance to see her don't miss it!

It makes me so happy to hear neko Case on RP. Her music is simple, but her voice is so phenomenal that her overall sound balances out. I'm still blown away by her "country noir" creations. "We've got a lady pilot she's not afraid to die..." Rock that reverb baby.

I wanted to go to NYC last week to see her with the Sadies. My wife got her way...we stayed in Philly and saw Oteil (bass player from Allman Bros) instead. Boring. Neko, come to Philly! I have no idea what this song is about, but I love it.

Sounding this good, she don't need 'em!
I saw her in SF last week and wow! what a show. She is such a talent! Thanks to Radio Paradise for exposing me to her music.
It's moments like these that make me feel like donation to RP was worth every last cent. Diamonds in the rough like this are why I listen. There's an awful lot of music I can't stand here, but where else would I have discovered Neko?
Bought Blacklisted after hearing Deep Red Bells on RP. One of my best new purchases. More Neko please!!!
Neko Case is the best, and I've always wondered why she doesn't get more airplay on Radio Paradise. Must admit that I've never considered this one of her stronger songs. Howzabout some of the fabulous stuff from "The Virginian" ("Duchess") or her EP ("California"), or even her astounding work with the New Pornographers, who deserve to be Radio Paradise regulars in their own right. I dare *anyone* to listen to "The Laws Have Changed" from their The Electric Version CD just once.
Ah, Neko, Neko, Neko....gorilla my dreams...what a lovely voice, and wonderful songwriting. Not just this song, but all I've heard from her . Glad her boyfriends are gone!
what happened to her boyfriends?
Neko! I love you, Neko! sigh
definitely a unique voice. have to respect that, even if you don't particularly enjoy the way it sounds (and i don't particularly). maybe it will grow on me.

Its a *GREAT* album, Red Bells is just one of many gems. However, I must say I can only handle her in small doses. Overuse of reverb on all the songs...
