When I was a kid, you couldn't get cooler than Sly Stone. He was the man. I was a white kid raised in a black neighborhood in the city. I wouldn't trade it for the world, I felt nothing but love.

It takes a lot of discipline.  Incidentally, that's Larry Graham - one of the most talented and innovative electric bass players ever - playing on this tune.

I went to go see them back in '68 in Chicago at the Grant Park band shell along with Muddy Waters  but after Muddy Waters played they never showed up and a riot ensued. Muddy Waters was good anyways...

Thanks Bill! Great song, great message. If you had heard it when it was first released in the late 60's, which I did, I suppose it would have a different impact on you than hearing it now. Everyone has feelings attached to music in relation to what is happening at the time they first heard it.
