Giant steps are what you take
Walkin' on the moon
I hope my leg don't break
Walkin' on the moon

We could walk forever
Walkin' on the moon
We could be together
Walkin' on, walkin' on the moon

Walkin' back from your house
Walkin' on the moon
Walkin' back from your house
Walkin' on the moon

Feet they hardly touch the ground
Walkin' on the moon
My feet don't hardly make no sound
Walkin' on, walkin' on the moon

Some, may say
I'm wishin' my days away
No way
And if it's the price I pay
Some say
Tomorrow's another day
You stay
I may as well play

Giant steps are what you take
Walkin' on the moon
I hope my leg don't break
Walkin' on the moon

We could walk forever
Walkin' on the moon
We could be together
Walkin' on, walkin' on the moon

Some, may say
I'm wishin' my days away
No way
And if it's the price I pay
Some say
Tomorrow's another day
You stay
I may as well play

Keep it up
Keep it up
Keep it up
Keep it up

This would be good as an instrumental number.
ooh, let's remake a song but make it a tedious dirge.
call 911, there's been a murder!
Amsterburg sounds like a somewhat scrambled dutch name.

Beautiful
I don't submit many "1/sucko-barfo" ratings.
This is one of the few.
PSD, here I go.

I'm not too fond of covers that just try to emulate the original. It's nice to hear other people's interpretations of songs, sometimes with great results. I quite like this version.
Ah-ha! So this *is* a good song. Cool. Sounds great when it's not taking the piss out of reggae, or calypso, or ska, or whatever they thought they were doing.
AWESOME cover!  I must have it ;-)
Better than the original, IMO, though that could be because Sting's voice usually gets on my tits. I love yer woman's Irish accent. 7 from the Celtophile Nottingham jury.

+1.
People gives a 10 to a song that they love, and a 1 when they don't love it. And there is no rating between...
She sounds like she has a terrible cold. Or is holding her nose. Which would be a new thing I guess.

Calm down.
I gave it a 2 to redress the balance somewhat.

It's not a good interpretation of the song in my opinion. There we go, we all have different opinions.

I think the power of the song has just gone with this version, it sounds flat and dull when compared with the original.

I don't hate it, but it seems to be needlessly sloppy.
Love this cover !
My dear God....the cover here is to cover your ears...3
Very nice. Would like to hear more of her.
such a waste!... not good really!

A solid 1
yuk
Dear me Bill - this is a desperate piece of music. I'm shaking my head in disbelief, and after I've finished doing that I will be logging onto another station until I've calmed down - could be quite a while!! {#No}  It almost got the dreaded 1, but I gave it 2 out of possibly misplaced compassion. What a shocker. {#No} {#No}

I love this.  Totally transforms the song.
I didn't like this song in High School.  A remake hasn't made it any better.
I like this cover :)
Drudgery.
This is beautiful. At the very least it makes you sit up and listen to a song that most of us have become numb to.
Awesome to hear Merrie on Radio Paradise again, after a hiatus of... umm... seven years or so? And haters? {#Nyah}

Cheers!

Breathes new life into a dated and two dimensional song. Thank you Merrie...no need to waste decent lyrics.
I actually dig this version better than the original. I have no idea whether that is because, at certain point, I started to dislike Sting or simply because the guitar and bass work, plus the dreamy percussion, roots into my head more effectively. In any case, it might be a matter of this version being fresher...
Awesome! Great to hear a cool cover song on RP... especially one that Dylan didn't write first.
sonically quite nice...

Nice cover
Filtered through Valium?!?  I dunno, I like Valium...{#Shifty}

I'm a huge Police fan and I actually really like this cover. Must have been some nice Haight Street Rainbow you had that day.

admirable honesty, romeo. Perhaps you'd been in the hotel room too long?

I'm with most of the rest of you, didn't care for the original & this is no improvement on it.

What I'm worried about is are we now going to hear a Police tune next?

Thank you for the"PSD" button.

Wierd. The original was the first single I ever bought.
Myself, I like this better than the original. But, I never liked the original all that much.

Oh the Beyond section, it's, it's...well, it's Beyond.
I got this CD as a promo copy at the indie record store I worked for back in the 90s. Always liked this cover. Glad to hear it on RP.

I'm missing the rhythm section of the original.

Radio Paradise plays some nice covers.
This isn't one of them.
No thank you. I'm not even crazy about the original, but this hits the ground at a rating of 3.
I feel like I'm strolling through Bed, Bath and Beyond or one of those soap and lotion shops. Not the best cover.
After a few listens I quite like it, but it still sounds like she's holding her nose while singing. Perhaps that's her thing?
Oy, can't listen to this.

Yes, that's exactly how I felt.

Ug - the best part by far of the original was the understated bass line.

Oddly, my reaction is the opposite. I like the verse treatment a whole lot, but would really like to hear it kick up a notch for the chorus; it loses the interesting pointilistic rhythm of the verse and just blands into sleep.

Painful. Toss this one out the window.

Right, nice to hear a song you have heard a thousand times in a new enjoyable form...

Most can't pull it off...  but you did it.  Really Nice Work!
S'okay, but it sounds like she's putting on a silly voice...
This is fun, and an improvement on the clichéd and overplayed original, IMO. Any song with a twanged ruler on a desk in the background is worth a listen to these ears. 7 from the tickled Nottingham jury.
Wow.  A cover I like even less than the original.  I didn't think it possible.
I'd consider myself a pretty big Police fan.  I kinda like this.

Trying to think of any other Police covers (other than Sting).

No, nothing's sacred. I can imagine a WOTM cover being good, but this is a good example of a 4. Acceptable. I gave it a 5 just because it's got me checking out song comments.

I'm gonna go with YES. This one made me laugh - in a good way - when I heard it.  There's a particular kind of pleasure in hearing a cover that's so different that the original song is almost, but not entirely, submerged in your brain. The original is good in it's own right, and this does its own thing. I can't agree with the low ratings on this.  I have reacted poorly to some covers (*cough* Tori Amos *cough*) so I do understand this reaction though.

I don't mind this at all.

Bill is pulling some long ago spun tunes out.

Stones was good, this meh.

No.

I HAVE this album and didn't even know this song was on it...Must've overlooked for a reason, 'cause I just adore the rest of it. But this version of WOTM is quite dreary and drab. Please forgo future replays. Segue into Yes - And You & I ? Now, that's why I support RP.....
No...no...NO! NO!!!...
This is an absolutely dreadful cover!
I like it. I don't normally like remakes but I like this. She's got a lovely voice.
Lighten up people it's not that bad. I think it's an interesting interpretation of the original Police song.
I got this cd as a promo while working in a local record store. I still have it-I play it alot to this day.The music just makes me happy. I met her at an in-store performance once-very nice and gracious! Never thought I'd hear this song outside of my cd collection. Thanks RP!!!!
i see this name and always think Morrie Amsterdam from the Dick Van Dyke show.

Can't believe the LOW rating (4.6 as of now) on this cover. Inspired, original, well-executed. Bravo. My two cents: if you can't make it your own, don't play someone else's stuff unless you are just trying to make a buck playing Rock Star at the local beer bar.
Ditto. My "9" didn't make a dent. I'm burned out on the Police version. This is the kind of cover that's fun to hear and refreshes the original too.

Oh my God. I feel like screaming like Howard Dean. This isn't that chick who was yippy-yo-ing thru that "Games Without Frontiers" cover, is it?
I love the original to death and it's awsome to hear such an unusual rendition of this song. Merri is Rockin'! :D
Doing a remake of a top 40 hit is hardly fair play. Try digging something worthy but largely ignored out of the archives instead like anything by Klaatu, Lewis Furey, Jane Sibbery or Men Without Hats.
Interesting and well worth the listen!
Oh come now, this isn't so bad! I like this one a good bit better than the original Police version. :goodvibes.gif:
Jeez folks.....in the generation of remakes this isn't that bad....

So you cover a song with one of the greatest bass lines in existence and... take out the bass line? Sweet one.
If all you're going to do is reproduce the original, why bother with a cover at all? If it's the bassline you want to hear, it's on Regatta de Blanc. I could mail you my copy if you like. Ten bucks plus international shipping, since I'm in Canada. More to the point, this is the tune that convinced me to support Radio Paradise. Well done, RP.
I think that listening to this song is actually slowing down my metabolism.
Leave this one to The Police. This version is a little slower than the original. Original much better.
Oh my God - NO!!!!! #-o Please send donations to fix her deviated septum!!

I was going to say the same thing. What a travesty.
Yee-ess! :D I don't care what the rest of you naysayers think, Merrie rocks my world. I heard this very version played on the radio during a space-themed set on January 1, 2001, and immediately had to find out everything I could about this singer with the amazingly pure voice, a lot more pleasant than, say, Victoria Williams' (whom I also kinda like). Don't judge by a single cover, which was probably the record company's idea. Turns out she can write songs, too. Her website is: www.qdivision.com/merrie Way to go, RP!
Well, I uploaded it so it goes without saying that I like it. I like the sort of 'underwater' quality. Definitely a quirky cover. I have two of her CD's and this is the oddest of the collection of songs. All in all I like her sensibility and thought it would work here. I dunno - of the three uploaded one was added. Tasting on my naked ear is penciled in for next time I hear it.
It\'s horrible! Sounds like pap!!!
She\'s no Sting. I love this song, but I am not too thrilled with this cover. It has no energy.

Yes, but since Eak A Mouse is on the playlist, the baseline is really, really low.
blech!! this is just awful!!
Squeaky voice is how you sing, walking on the moon.
So you cover a song with one of the greatest bass lines in existence and... take out the bass line? Sweet one.
I like this song by the police but I also like the tempo on this. Every once in a while a slowed down tempo works. Even I do that with my favorite songs when it gets stuck in my brain. :D
Hearing this was kind of a shock to my system. I\'m not sure I like this or not. I think not. Her refrain is really soppy. The rest hold water. But then I love the Police, so maybe I\'m biased....
I like odd covers, but I really don't like this song or the police...and I fear that some police is bound to follow this...
I like odd covers, so I really like this song just as I like the police...and I hope that some police is going to follow this... ;)
The irony is that I love to hear The Police do this song. This woman... I don\'t know. She sounds like she\'s being forced to do it, under medication. She sounds like she\'d rather be doing anything else. Is the rest of her album like this?
Wow, this song is getting hammered. Not great, but also not terrible. I\'ve certainly heard worse songs on RP.
Tolerable. Barely. I, too, don\'t like putting the vocals so far out front of the music, and that whales\' mating calls sound pinging in the background does nothing for me. Then again, I\'m not a whale.
I didn\'t much care for the original. Maybe my least fav from the Police. Why would you cover this song. I don\'t know it\'s just such a bizarre thing to do.
I kind of like this cover. I\'ve no idea why the reception is so harsh. I like hearing something other than the back-to-back Calexico played here on Calexicoparadise.
nope nope nope. not pleasant. not good.
