Ah, yes, that reminds me that, back in the 80s when vinyl still ruled, singles regularly came out in 12" versions which were ideal for the dance floor, and this was one of them.

I loved Soft Cell's electro-sleaze then, and I think it's still appealing and relevant 3 decades later.

I used to work at this company back in the 90's that had this phone system that your desk phone would beep when you had a voice message. The tone and beat was exactly like the one in this song. So whenever someone got a voice message the whole department would start singing Tainted Love to the phone Beep Beep.

Trippy, silly, Time-Freezing stuff. When it came out and was on the radio, we enjoyed making mirthful parody of it.  And it's worthy of it yet!

Great sleaze-pop. I loved this in the day because it was so different, and I think it still works. Soft Cell's work immediately evokes images of dark, dingy basement clubs in Soho with dodgy characters and sticky carpets. And sexual deviance, of course {#Angel}

Soft Cell was always a guilty pleasure, a bit like watching a sleazy porn video. 8 from the guiltily perverted Nottingham jury.

This always seemed like one of the least musical recordings I ever heard. Mediocre melody, cheap synthetic instrumentation, off-key singing. Catchy song in its own way, but really amateurishly produced.

You have to love what the AMG entry has to say about Soft Cell, \"A synth-pop duo famed for its uniquely sleazy electronic sound\" :) It\'s good for a few 80\'s memories, at least.
