Suzanne is perfect
except for the band
where she cut her own hand
with a razor blade.

New York and cocaine
have got to her now
she took her last bow
in the powder room.

All that she wanted
and all that she had are the same thing.
Even in sin
she still had the face of a queen.

Suzanne is broken
down by the sea
she was trying to be
now she can never be.

Alone in a madness
out of control
she lived in a hole
with her radiohead.

All that she wanted
and all that she had
are the same thing.
Even in sin
she still had the face of a queen.

Sounds a bit like Steven Wilson, no? (That's a good thing, btw!)

Suzanne is no longer with us to serve anything,
but
she lived in a hole with her radiohead.

so I blame Tom Yorke and that bunch

"Predictable" in some noteworthy or distinguished way?  That's not so bad, is it? Well, I guess it could be.
Did he date the same Suzanne as Leonard Cohen? She seems to inspire some pretty tragic songs.

Nice, smooth, beautiful ... {#Sunny}
I'm hearing Aldo Nova's "Fantasy". Weird.

We could have done without that visual, Mr. 10 minutes in the hall for you! {#Grumpy}

I have heard this song a bunch of times and find it very enjoyable, listenable, and most importantly it makes me feel nostalgic for all those "perfect" girls I have been with . . .   {#Angel}{#Cry}
So many new songs I've never heard before! Sounds like the old playlists were completely wiped out. {#Laughing}

Why are all songs about Suzanne so lame?
Why, perhaps it just goes with the name!

Nick Drake and Al Stewart's love child.

Do they smell like perfect?
Excellent. I've known some people like that. Maybe even been one. New York and cocaine go together like peanut butter and jelly. pianocomposer wrote:

Great segue from RHCP's Road Trippin
No kidding. . .I thought for sure the Pepper's song was just going on way long, but then the wrong voice started singing! Neat.
Great segue from RHCP's Road Trippin
Suzanne is a perfectionist - idealist really!
I sit next to Suzanne, I think I can smell her shoes.

I know Suzanne. She's far from perfect. She's really kind of a mess.

You'll have to get the CD...I love it...!
Funny that someone else pointed out the Al Stewart similarity--he is one of my favorite artists, and this song reminded me somewhat of Al Stewart's "Carol."
one remedy would be to add more hopkins songs. yes... jackson is gorgeous. kills me softly. we just uploaded a track called "I Can't Speak Your Name" with Noe Venable on backing vocals. it's a winner too. and then his latest "paranoia song #1" i still love Suzanne is Perfect, and won't tire of it... but i'd sure like to hear some more of David on here. mix it up a bit. they have another song 'some kind of christian' i think... that was "added" but has yet to be played. anyway. class act. you should try to catch him live sometime. you'd go home a diehard fan. they all do! :)
I bet if I weren't kind of sick of this song, I'd really enjoy it.
I checked out some more MP3s on his site, how come his Song Jackson is not on RP? Cool, a songwriter who is around now who is actually great. I was about to give up.

That was Al Stewart, missjanuary. But I agree, it sounds a lot like him.
Sounds exactly like him. Eerie.

I was gonna get all pissy at you but then I look at the songs you gave 10s to, Little Feat and Earl Srcuggs. Let's just leave it at that.
Tell it like it is Wendy!!! :nodhead:

I think this is the most frequently played song on RP. Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems that I hear this every day. :) I'm not complaining, just observing. It's a good song. It's definitely grown on me from a few weeks ago.

Did you ever try one? There're the best, dude!!

That's very true. If you don't like something, you either lack taste (=broad understanding/knowledge of music) or it is crap, like Britney/Oasis/andsoforth...

One would think that if Suzanne is perfect, she'd get a better song than this.
I want more stuff dammit! Great song but where\'s the other material?
Yay for David. Local to SF now! Have seen him play at some intimate little cafes and clubs and really enjoyed his live show. www.davidhopkinsmusic.com is his site.
