Classic in a very special way! I remember like it was yesterday, though I couldn't have been more than two or three, how my dad called my mother into the living room to see how I was bopping to this jam when he put it on the record player.  Hey, for real, my life was changed by Rock 'n' Roll... It's the recording industry. Even if Elvis felt the lyric(s), especially in the 1950s, expressing feeling in the music, or at least the "new" rock music, wasn't important. It was all about the delivery. Elvis delivered.

Interesting how a song about such intense emotion is so devoid of those feelings, just a casual bebop tune.  I guess that's why hard rock and R&B got so big in the 1970s, it wasn't devoid of any of that.  Just pulling a random song from memory, compare "All Shook Up" to "Kiss You All Over" by Exile, we went to that in just 20 years.  Kind of fascinating seeing music evolve.

***I totally agree with how badass Elvis was for his time.  And he served in the military which was pretty cool too.  And then he got TOO BIG (double entendre there...) and shit came crashing down....

I also liked the Graceland → the KING segue...BillG's a freaking genius at those segues, eh?  Even the obvious ones.  And you're right about how it used to be in America.... White vs. Black (Pat Boone vs. Little Richard) and then came the black sounding white guy and the music started to meld (as it should!) and yeah...Long Live RP!!

I dunno.  7=Quite Likable, but not 8=Most Excellent or 9=Outstanding, and also better than 6=Pretty Good.  Most of the detraction is the comments, not the ratings.  It's an 8 for me.
