Man do I hate these pretentious Smurf Mimes!!! No more please!!!
loved their vegas show but without the visuals their music is just so much muzak.
These guys were a lot better when they were just an obscure performance art troupe. I don't really care to hear their crap.

Me too. And the BMG are as gay as his character is.

I was about to rate this a 5 (decent, not bad), but it was followed by The Who's Quadrophenia. By contrast, it became painfully clear this is a 3 instead... Rated Quadrophenia an 8, by the way.
Same set today. I think both songs have their own merit. I give BMG a 7 and Who an 8....
Hmm, this isn't bad. I've never really heard anything by them and assumed, based on those rotten commercials, that they sucked. I learned something today.

I think some folks - if they were honest with themselves - would admit they like BMG, but because the group's gotten so popular without making overly complex, cerebral music, they simply "aren't allowed" to like them. Hey, I like Mannheim Steamroller for the same reason: sometimes I don't want to think about my music, 'k? Likeable tune.
Good comment. I agree. Sometimes music can just be fun.
... ... Love 'em! ...
I still don't get it. It's like Industrial Muzak. 1. I'll take Front 242 instead, please.

Righteous! Prop music!

No she didn't, I've just been waiting all day for an instrumental ;-) Too bad lyrics sites don't consistently cover RP's playlist to do better than a Google link in the song info. It's not entirely unhelpful and you gotta love an enthusiastic listener--aren't we all?

My problem with BMG is not that they aren't complex or cerebral. There is a lot of really wonderful music out there which is completely simple- just look at the Beatles or Johnny Cash. My problem with BMG is that they are not interesting to me. They're a lot of show and electronics that do nothing but make otherwise boring music sound "exciting." (I could say the same thing for Mannheim Steamroller.)

Man, I couldn't have said it better.

I think, as previous posts indicate, that one finds him or herself liking this group because they have seen their clever and entertaining show on tour. Saw them on Leno about 12 years ago, and have liked them ever since. Saw them on tour (Complex) and they were fantastic! Also loved Tracy Bonham and Venus Hum, who (as previously mentioned) opened for them on New Orleans!
Wasn't that Dynamo Hum ?
BMG: Recycled bathroom humor for the modern ages. The PVC thing and the drumming with paint and lights were both cool, but the rest was so painful. The music by itself is pretty nondescript and boring.
Old songs, been fan of them for a long time...welcome all "newly discovered"-listeneres. Btw, you should get the album, it's kick ass.

Hammered dulcimer is one of the coolest sounding instruments. But it can't save this song.

I like 'em. But why do they call themselves the blue man group?
File under 'Guilty Pleasures'
Yes! Blue Man Group! I agree with an earlier post. I think that I like this so much because I've seen a couple of their shows. When I saw them in Vegas, Tim "Herb" Alexander (one of Primus' drummers) was playing with them and I didn't even know it at the time. When I saw them here in Little Rock, Tracy Bonham and Venus Hum opened up for them. Even though it wasn't up to par with the Vegas show, it was damn fine. Excellent playlist, RP.
Please stop the madness...........!
I like this, but I really think it's only because I saw their show in Las Vegas. If I hadn't, I think I would be a little unimpressed.
Why? 'Cause I love it. I give it a nine. I've got Bactine for your forehead, if needs be.
Why? Why? WHY????
Ditto... ...of all the great stuff that gets played... they are the worst. Can't stand 'em. Don't like gimmicky bands.
I\'m really getting tired of all the BMG cuts on RP... it seems like there are at least 2-3 a day, and while they\'re kinda interesting, they\'re just not good enough for that sort of rotation. I find myself switching RP off about 3-4 times a day, and 2 of them are invariably BMG; --d

Just saw them for the Complex Tour in L.A. (What a great B-day present!) AWESOME! The show was different than, but equal to, the Vegas show.
Saw them also at the Shrine. Pretty good show!

What an amazing show!
These guys are just sooooooooo fun to listen to!

They've been off-Broadway since 1991 I think. They also have a couple touring companies.

They are also here in Vegas. I hear great things about their shows!
Noise. Yanni or anything else that is representative of whales talking to each other would be a more palatable alternative.

I love this song! The dulcimer is just so gorgeous at the beginning, and as the instruments add in, it just builds and builds. Awesome!
