A pregnant model and shaving cream will do that.
Brass at its finest. Herb is now 88 and I had the privilege of seeing him on tour here on Vancouver Island. It was the first stop on his 2023 Canada wide tour featuring his wife on vocals. He has still got his chops and put on a first rate show.

Same here. I was 10yrs old. My Uncle Jimmy & Aunt Linda had it. They played it on their HUGE Magnavox console stereo!

Exactly the same here, in the fancy living room from the giant console stereo and my dad tapping his foot this and smiling.
Wonder how many people listening know that Herb Alpert is the A in A&M Records.

Clam dip is good too

Just one more reason why Radio Paradise is the best radio station in the history of humanity!
That's a hell of a wedding dress!
Maybe the second greatest pop instrumental?  "Walk Don't Run" comes first.  What else am I missing?

I think I made this comment under Dave Brubeck's   'Take Five':

Of all my parents records, I remember four:

Tom Lehrer for the comedy (much of which I didn't get at the time).
Take Five for the music.
Mart Robbins for the lyrics.
Whipped Cream.. for the cover.

In Italy, this was the soundtrack of the most-watched show recapping Sunday's soccer (football?) games. Back then, soccer was on Sunday only. Good old days.

Very good memories!
Memories of this album cover in my parents’ stack. Pretty racy.

 Huh

MAster Piece.
In Italy It was the OST of a TV program named "Tutto il calcio minuto per minuto" in the 80s. and talking about CALCIO ( SOCCER ) every Italian Knows it!
Herb's attack is so distinctive - incredibly crisp. Sharp enough to shave with.

I don't know if it's true, but I heard he could walk up to a trumpet suspended on a wire, hands behind his back, and hit 'C' above the staff. Crazy.

Love this!

What a delight to hear this bright bouncy bit of brass! A surprise like this is just one of the many reasons I keep coming back to Radio Paradise.
OMG, back to the 60's we go. flux capacitor engaged, 88mph!

A model named Delores Erickson. She was three months pregnant during the photo shoot. And spoiler alert, it's shaving cream, not whipped cream. Whipped cream wouldn't hold up under the studio lights. And she's not naked. Has on a strapless bikini. Could never match my sweet imagination. Everything looks worse in black and white.

I guess so.
At 11 years old this was my  Favorite album cover. And the music was pretty cool , too! Thanks for the memory jolt!
My dad used to play his trumpet along with this on Sunday mornings..

Great upbeat tune for a cold wet upstateNY morning. Dreaming of sun and sand, perhaps a margarita. Also, like others, thinking of 1960’s groups... Seeing Herb & Co on Ed Sullivan. Memories.
Snappy tune A surprise

Ditto, this was my favorite from my parents collection. Jim Reeves anyone?
Wow, not heard this for years!! Bouncey, happy tune.
Wow, what a blast from the past! I owned every Herb Alpert & TTB album. I decided to play trumpet because of this band. I went on to become an internationally recognized musician because of this band. Well, everything is true except for that last part. Still, I loved this band!

Maybe this was standard issue in the early 60s, just like every household later would have Fleetwood Mac Rumors in the late 70s?
Oh yeah.

Eating BBQ in a restaurant with knotty  pine paneling with the family while this was playing and sneaking peaks at this  album cover, and not getting caught by mom.
This album brings back some great memories. I always liked Herb.  Great, wonderful surprise to hear something from it. Never goes out of date. Love it!

Same here, except my parents' had a sizable collection of albums for my only-child-self to play, alphabetize, chronologize, genreize (made up word...sue me!) and this album was on the TT more than a few times....good memories for a kid born 12 years after the album was born....Long Live RP!!
this is totally awesome, thanks Bill!
So good to hear this!
rock on, Bill
Groovy, man. I just heard the late Hal Blaine talk about the drumming on this one on Fresh Air.

Yah, that's kinda cool. Thanks Bill for the memories ! Herb was a pretty good trumpeter and good showman. Not mu go to artist, but enjoyable and fun for a lot of good reasons.

Nah, really?
Outstanding! Thanks RP, another unexpected pleasure :)

I bought this album at the age of 12 about 2 years after it came out.

Racy cover... in context.
Being a young boy, eating BBQ is a small restaurant with knotty pine wall panels..listening to this song and taking a peek at this album cover on the wall, when mom wasn't looking.

Was that woman really naked underneath the cream?   Whoa!
Nice tune, though for some reason reminds me of this:

Great stuff!

Haven't heard Herb and the Brass for many years.  According to the website the last time you played this track was many years ago.

Please make sure it gets into the rotation a little more often.

Nice surprise! Gave it 8 for my good memories.

Must be something about being born in '62 then. I was also and I think your definition of The Dead is spot on. I'll take Herb any time.

Sorry, but I gave this song a 1. I would have given the album cover a 10, however! I too remember seeing this album in the living room of our old house. Deep red shag carpet, fake wood panelling on the walls, and the huge stereo system all encased in the same fake wood panelling. I also remember hearing this song, but with a little less fond memories. Every time I have heard this song was either in the grocery store or in an elevator. Never thought that RP would play MUSAK !!!!! :P I think appreciation of this crap is generational. I was born in 1969, and my friends and I spent our youths making fun of music like this. That being said, we also grew up wondering where the golden age of rock went (Cream, Dead, classic Stones, Traffic, etc.— love that music, and still do). It was then that we discovered "alternative rock" that was being played on college radio. Too bad all those "alternative rock" stations went corporate.

I was born in 1969, and I love this and many other Herb tunes. Your argument that appreciation for this style of music is generational may be flawed, but then again, my 77-year-old father-in-law is a big Herb fan, so maybe there is some truth to that after all!

From Eliades Ochoa to Herb Alpert. Brilliant.

holy shite.. I remember this on a little floppy record I got out of a magazine my dad gave me, it was square, and I would play it on my record player. Never knew it herb Albert. I don't think I've heard this in possibly 32 years!
Wow! I'm 9, in the PI, and along with this, Mama's & Papa's, Beatles, Ray Price, and HAIR! I was in heaven, glad my mother was so "hip" then.

This is just horrible. Even the Beatles couldn\'t rescue this song, but if you\'ve got to play it I\'d rather hear their version than this dreck.

Originally on "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" Minneapolis' Soul Asylum parodied that album cover on one of their records. Truly disturbing: Clam Dip and Other Delights See also: Original Or Pat Cooper's Spaghetti
Boy, that takes me back... to when I was a carfree yout. I have a vague recollection of a wooden record player (with tubes!) spinning a 45. What I wouldn\'t give to be able to reach back and slap some sense into that kid!

Hot-cha! That cover jump-started puberty for me. I think the album was called "Whipped Cream and Other Delights".
Could you PLEASE show a picture of the cover of that ALBUM on the webcam! Great change of pace, and a great refreshing blast from the past for this 50 year old..
I prefer the Beatles\' cover. \"Da-doo da-doo!\"

Other music from this album was used on the Dating Game for many years. Can't remember the title but I can mentally replay it almost flawlessly.
Someone is showing their age! hehe Actually have the album myself!
My dad has this album. The cover featured a nice lass draped in what appeared to be whipped cream. Once I got past that, I would listen to this and Zorba the Greek and Tijuana Taxi endlessly. Great music, great choice Bill.
