Summer's gone winter's in your eyes
I can feel the thunder storms inside
I wake every morning and the cold winds cover me
All I've got's a ghost of what could be

If you can see the lights shine in front of me
If you can see the lights shout out where you'll be

I'm in a broken dream I stare out into space
You know I called you up cos nothing takes your place
I've got a heart of stone and it's sinking deep inside
I want to tell you love I'm too proud to cry

If you can see the lights shine in front of me
If you can see the lights shout out where you'll be
Summer's gone and I can't tell you lies
Oh forgive me love I'm too proud to cry

If you can see the lights shine in front of me
If you can see the lights shout out where you'll be
Summer's gone and I can't tell you lies
Forgive me love I'm too proud to cry
Too proud to cry

Too proud to cry

Too proud to cry

I can't think of anything I would NOT understand more than what you said.....
This song gets a 6 from me....OK, not great, maybe it'll grow on me, maybe not....Long Live RP!!
First time I've heard this one.  I liked their Street Fighting Years cd.  This one isn't as good as the songs on that one but it's still good.

More Simple Minds! {#Jump}

great to hear the songs that weren't played on the radio
Turn it up...................8
Saw these guys on tour with the Pretenders when Chrissie was married to Jim Kerr.   Good stuff!
U2 meets Arcade Fire.

I agree.. except for the part about being pretentious and sucky.
Always enjoyed their music.

Blown away. When this song came on I suddenly thought of David and David- Welcome to the Boomtown. So I click on comments, and see this!!!!! magical.

More simple, please!
Some of my favorite opening lines ever: "Summer's gone, winter's in your eyes. I can feel the thunderstorms inside..."

Trotting this up top, because "Welcome to the Boomtown" is such a great old song and really would fit after this one!  Good catch, superflyLD!

Man, it's been a long time since I've heard this one!  I love Simple Minds... {#Dancingbanana}{#Sunny}
A guilty pleasure of mine. Pop doesn't have to be sloppy or crap and this was a surprisingly tight and polished band.

No they don't. Just Bono and U2, and I have pictures of him doing it.

Absolutely...

yes, my first thought when this came on was "ew, U2". But it wasn't! whatever.

I really love this song!

forgot how much I liked this band...
These guys have a new album - Graffiti Soul - that's actually getting decent reviews across the pond. Will wonders never cease? {#Stupid}

I bought this album on the strength of this song (and some of the more notable tracks on it)... never looked back and never regretted it once.

Oh, and if I may... us Scots sure can bang out some awesome tracks! (I'm feeling surprisingly native just now) {#Dancingbanana_2}

Ah, this confirmed my suspicion. :wave: GrÃŒsse zurÃŒck auf die grÃŒne Insel. Was hat Dich dorthin verschlagen? Job oder Liebe? :angel:

Brilliant stuff, Charlie Burchill has such a wonderful touch and timing. I recall seeing them in Brighton in '84 with some of my old chums supporting them and the prvious year at Phoenix Park Racecourse, Dublin on a bill including Big Country, Eurythmics and U2. By one measure it seems so long ago, by another it was yesterday. Great, great.
Not usual fan of Simple Minds but really really like this one
Still going strong! Would be awesome to see them in the States again. (click here)
Very U2esque
this song is golden.

I had the pleasure something about 20 years ago....and the concert is still present in my head!

It's good to hear some Simple Minds here. Feel good music.
The bells reminded me of Naked Eyes version of "Always Something There to Remind Me". And then "Do They Know Its Christmas"
One of the songs where the pomp-pop of Simple Minds really works out. :dance:

Yeah, I can see why many people call them U3.

Same here. I was seeing a U2:ish video spinning in my head but I could not put my finger on it. Like it!
One of my favorite Simple Minds tunes.
Just turned up the volume. Ahhhhh... yes.
Having a hard time stopping my mind from imagining that Bono's singing -
Always liked this, but they were already leaving the building.
Love the solo on this one. Charlie Burchill always seemed a bit underrated, no?
I thought it was the Simple Minds, but wasn't quite sure...
OH YEAH! BILL KEEPS PULLING SONGS FROM MY PAST. THANKS FOR THE PLEASANT MEMORIES.
Oh so much more to Simple Minds than this song... I think this is the only SM song I've heard on RP, maybe another from Street Fighting Years (Belfast Child)? I concur with the comments below about New Gold Dream: it's one of my absolute favorite albums of all time. Timeless. (Will check out the covers recommendation.)

I'm with you there, especially on New Gold Dream. However..... Check out Neon Lights, a compilation they did with covers from Joy Division, Van Morrison, Roxy Music, etc. It's the best, and I HATE cover stuff like that generally.....
Awww wow. Simple Minds... gimme more... Sounds SO smooth. Still holds up against today's hip-hop/mass produced drivel that makes it into charts. :drummer: :guitarist:
Hmmmm Simple Minds.... saw them about 16 or 17 years ago in Germany.... what a fab feeling they created! Kerr involved everyone in the hall! Always loved their bombastic sound. Somehow there's something majestic and Scottish about it... not my favourite song by them, but still a gem!
:butt: nugget

I'm liking the chime. Brings back memories. Stumbled across this when I bought a VINYL , CUT OUT. Still good. A 9.

Ain't know use in sittin' wonderin why, babe. Thanks, Bob
By this time they had turned into and sounded like any AOR US band...
Never heard this one before. Only familiar with a handful of their cuts at the time. Nice addition. :bounce: :clap: :bounce: :clap: :bounce:
This is technically the second SM CD I owned; the first one was "live in the city of light", but Disc 1, while printed with the right CD silkscreen, actually had "Song of the South" as the audio tracks. Very, very odd. Returned it the next day(they were a bit crabby about it, which I found amusing), though I wondered later if maybe I had a collector's item. Bah. I like this song, it's on my short list of tracks to use when evaluating car stereo equipment.
Boring, boring, boring. It's the songs from 'Empires & dance', 'Sons and fascination', 'Sister feelings call' & 'New gold dream' that are the most powerful Simple Minds ever did in their career.
Not bad, but I prefer their earlier music by a long shot. Their work from Sons and Fascination to New Gold Dream to Sparkle in the Rain, and Once Upon a Time to a certain extent, is much more distinctive. Hint hint...

This song takes me back to college at a sad time but still like the song!
Thanks BIll. I could use some Simple Minds right about now.
