Sounds like a signal from you
Bring me to meet your sound
And I will bring you to my heart
Love like a signal you call
Touching my body my soul
Bring to me, you to meet me here

Home be the temple of your heart
Home be the body of your love
Just like Holy water to my lips

Yes I do know how I survive
Yes I do know why I'm alive
To love and be with you
Day by day by day by day

Time, time again, it is said
We will hear, we will see
See it all-in his wisdom-hear
His truth will abound the land
This truth will abound the land
This State of independence shall be
This State of independence shall be

(Hey, hey Yayah yaya oh)

Play Hairy Piano!
This is a cover of the Donna Summer version rather than of the original which is still much better.

Yes, it's remarkable how much Chrissie Hynde can sound like herself.

Emotional fuel for exhausted souls.

We all know it. Times are hard. The pandemic, well-justified social tensions, economic and environmental stresses that threaten a breaking point. . .yada, yada, yada.

But, as Spring of 2021 approaches, sunshine is on the horizon. Just as there was for me on a dark afternoon in Spring of 1995, in tiny Gastown record shop. I had taken refuge from the drizzle. Fog pressed on the window panes, making everything seem gray. A few customers shuffled narrow aisles. I was in no hurry.

You must buy this album!” a fingerless-gloved hand offered a colourful CD case to my surprised gaze. The gloved-hand, attached to six-foot Emo Girl, held a Moodswings CD insistently. “It’s great!” Moving closer, with both hands and shaking it for emphasis, looked me straight in the eye, and said, “You’ll love it.”

Such an earnest endorsement, how could I refuse? Surprised and aroused, I bought the CD, and she was quite right. I loved it, still love it. I listened to it, again, today.

I submit, good reader, that “Moodfood” is perfect listening for 2021. If you are feeling even a hint of angst, or trepidation listen to this album.

I hold it out to you, with both hands, looking you straight in the eye, “You’ll love it.”

Sounds like a scene from "High Fidelity"...but I get it.  When those who know show you the way, you take it and run.  BTW, this concept also applies to the "beer/wine/liquor  person" at your local bottle shop.

It’s a brilliant CD.   Been a staple of mine for almost 30 years.

I didn’t know this cover existed.
It’s a shame that RP doesn’t have the original on its playlist (Vangelis and Jon Anderson).

Chrissie Hynde's voice and a lot of echo - what could possibly go wrong?

I really like her singing since early 'Pretenders'-days.
The ethereal music and beautiful use of Ms. Hynde's voice in this song lovingly remind me of Sinead O'Connor and Jah Wobble's "Visions of You".

Well.. yeah. It is Chrissy.
Never heard this version before.
I love Donna Summer's version, but this is quite good too.
EXCELLENT!!  I never heard it before.  ThanxRP!

And then I find out it is CH!

I remember the Donna Summer version. This one's also nice.
What is all this whiney crap today?
Brilliant album!  Would sure like to hear all three parts if you're going to play this one as that's the art form and continuation/brilliance this concept album represents.  You'll play the entire side of Jethro Tull and 20 minutes or so of Moody Blues but not all three of this masterpiece.  Just saying...
Goosebumps...Awesome cover by Chrissy...
This is why I listen to RP. Thank you!

I remember Jon Anderson saying in an interview years ago that he walked into a disco in Paris or London and heard this version and saw the whole crowd really get into it - and he totally loved seeing that as his music, solo or with Yes, never gets played in places like discos! Thanks, RP - great stuff.

I only listened to the title track on the record this is from (The Friends of Mr. Cairo) so didn't know this prior to the version here. But Donna Summer's live version with the Art of Noise might be the best.

Her voice has a haunting quality reminiscent of Natalie Merchant's.  I'm really liking this song!  9 for now.

me too! Thank you!
Nice to hear this on the day that Vangelis's death was announced on the radio.  Such an interesting character.  Such great music.  I will have to dig out some old tracks to play again.
Please, Chrissie, don't!
Leave this one to Donna...
Ho-hum. Skip.
Great song. But sometimes it'll be great to listen to the Jon & Vangelis version. Or even the Donna Summer/Quincy Jones version... 😉

This moment of grace you experienced, you share and render it wonderfully.
Such encounters deserve our attention, lest we miss them.
All the best to you for putting your words to this and posting it here 🌟

Jon Andersson is such a cosmic artist and creative force! In my humble opinion severely underrated!
Indeed, this is a great tribute and very worthy Cover!
Hail, HAIL Chrissy Hind!
Thanks for the reminder that this track needs to go into my own collection.  So very good...
Thanks RP once again for all the awesome music!

Please leave this song to Donna Summer...!
love this...
sooooooo grooooovy and smooooth
Nice. I think I like Jon and Vangelis's version better but this is still really nice.

The Friends of Mr. Cairo if memory serves.
cool side of chrissie
The name of the bands fits the music perfectly.
Excellent version.
The original Jon & Vangelis version is also an excellent work. A different vibe and still well worth a listen.
Favorite chill rave anthem, brings back many good memories! Thank you Bill.

Came here to say thank you for this and to say it isn't on heavy enough rotation.

A few more plays of this please!
Now here's an example of a disc that could play for it's entirety when you need some time off Bill.  Everytime I hear this here, I have to hear all three parts.

I love this whole album...   and Chrissie...  what a great song she makes this!  123 K
After BillG's pairing of this with the preceding Moody Blues' "Ride My Seesaw"; +1 to 8.
Long Live RP!!
Chrissie has one of the most distinctive - and fantastic - voices in music.

Brings back memories of riding in a Greyhound across Canada decades ago. Great memories of this song. The bus ride...not so much.

Outstanding !  Thanks for the dust off !
Never heard this before. Excellent! Thanks!!
Dust this puppy off please, been a long time.

gack!

No it still sucks. It's just not as good as her blowing her nose by herself.
I think that covers that are identical to the original song are no fun. No creativity. I like covers like this or I Walk the Line by Live Alvaro

Love everything she does. I would enjoy hearing her blowing her nose.

Love this song!!
One of the best covers...most cannot do good covers of such amazing songs like this. This is so well done. But then.....Jon Anderson......what a compliment
Great flashback to the mid-90s. There is another version of this song which has excerpts of Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech. Sounds a bit corny but it's actually really groovy.
There's a great orchestral and vocal version on Jon's "Change We Must" album as well. It's really powerful. JK27 wrote:
It's not bad, but ... I do prefer the Jon Anderson and Vangelis version, which can be found on the Jon and VAngelis, "Friends of Mr. Cairo" album.
Goegeous! I love Chrissie's voice. And this went immediately into my Amazon wishlist as well.
great stuff. instantly saved this music to my amazon wishlist.... it would be cool if RP could imbed such an amazon wishlist right into the RP website. so when i hear stuff, i can MORE EASILY add to my wish list for later purchase. often, i just look at a clock, and hope to remember to go to the playlist at a later date and say, hey, what was it i heard at 10:59 pm last night, assuming im listening to RP in bed via my apple airport express hooked up to headphones....
Love radio paradise too - you guys plays stuff I never hear anywhere else
Wow, that was so undersea at first.... Very cool. Cruising music
silky smoove...
One of the best Haunting love it Jon and Vangelis ok but this is i dunno close my eyes and lose myself in it
this is sweet!
I thought exactly what you guys did about Chrissie Hynde. Far f**king out, man (as we used to say back then!). Tremendous song, superbly performed.
Great vocals! At first I thought it was Natalie Merchant after voice lessons, but from reading the comments I see it's Chrissie Hynde. What a fantastic voice.
KOOL TUNE is this Crissie Hynde or just a soundalike? either way, love the beat
Great, seriously cool tune
Kind of a silly song, but the lead vocals are fantastic.

I thought that's what this WAS--and leapt to my keyboard, a Sucko-Barfo at the ready. But this is . . . well, better than that. I shall withhold a rating for a while. A 3, if I had to vote today. . . . Cuz you know, even if it IS a good cover, if what's being covered was a bad enough song. . . .
I don't like this band, but I can identify with their moodswings..at this very moment..
Great

Lennox is in the chorus. Listen closely. OR that could be the reason I like it?

Could it be because this is not Annie Lennox? Just a shot in the dark here.... This is Chrissie Hynde, not Annie Lennox on guest vocals.
Barfo.
The chorus reminds me of that old Delta Airlines commercial...

I'm a sucker for throaty female vocalists a la Poe and Imogen Heap.

yes, this is a good version, but so's Donna's too. Wonderful song beautifully realized, twice!
Not even close near remotely a patch by a long shot on the Donna Summer version. Typical "trance" dreck. Terrible.
MobySwings? 8.

Thank You. I was kicking myself for trying to figure out where I had heard it before. Hmm, not sure if I like this version or the other one better though. The choir really *is* a nice touch.
how often do you get to hear the 'i have a dream' speech during your day? It's a great song and one I haven't heard for a lonnnnnng time. Thanks for playing it!
