O no, I see, I spun a web, it's tangled up with me
And I lost my head, the thought of all the stupid things I said
O no, what's this? A spider web, and I'm caught in the middle
I turned to run, the thought of all the stupid things I've done

I never meant to cause you trouble
And I never meant to do you wrong
And I, well if I ever caused you trouble
O no, I never meant to do you harm

O no, I see a spider web and it's me in the middle
So I twist and turn, gere am I in love in a bubble

Singing and oh, I never meant to cause you trouble
I never meant to do you wrong
And I, well if I ever caused you trouble
Although I never meant to do you harm

They spun a web for me, they spun a web for me
They spun a web for me

Parachutes and Rush of Blood to the Head are masterpieces. Everything since - not so much. I keep hoping that their “next” album will be back to the roots. So far, no bueno.
Ahhhhhhh.....
Sonic heaven.
This was great when it came out, and still is.  new Coldplay I don't like and it has been stated that its NOW overproduced and I think that is what I dislike, but this has a feel good, nice place quality, as does the whole album.
it's soooo popular to hate Coldplay... fuck em.  i loved em since Yellow...{#Heartkiss}
surely there should be a 0 button.
Perfect NorCal rainy day song
Nice!
There is so much Pink Floyd in this great song.

Absolutely agree 100%. there was a sparser, more opened-up sound to those two albums.
YES! and it's a gorgeous song. listen first next time...

The video-clip is very good.

This song reminds me of the instrumental version on the "Rockabye Baby" Coldplay compilation, which offered treatments of their songs as lullabyes for babies, or more for their hipster parents. I honestly like the lullabye versions way better than the originals - they are treated very well and the arrangements are lovely. So this song will forever remind me of my daughter, only weeks old, as I'm bouncing on the yoga ball holding her trying to get her to sleep. Happy belated Fathers' Day to all the pops out there.

Funny, the first few measures of this piece trigger the same kind of memories: me, sitting at the foot of my daughter's bed and humming this tune along with the Rockabye Baby CD to put her to sleep. {#Angel}   I like the song but I am so used to the lullaby version that I find this version hard to deal with. I also really have an issue with Chris Martin's voice (and the fact he doesn't always sing in tune).  The lullaby CD did however help me get an appreciation for his ability to write great melodies and arrangements .

They are just messing with you. I'm a songwriter and songs by Coldplay are genius. The lyrics are not so sensible but the melody is great.

Absolutely correct.
I like this band but they are the first act I have ever walked out on at this last weekend's Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Great memories associated with this song for me

Long time, no hear ... but it is like I just heard it yesterday in the radio ... not a good thing ... still I will rate it now as a 7 ...
(this was the first CP CD I bought back in the day) {#Sunny}
another beautiful song by them. Play it more!

So pretty. {#Angel}

Started out as an 8, but ended  up a 9 before the song was over.
Good song, but soooooo over played that I get steamed when I hear it.

I'll probably like it again in 5 or 6 years
Love this album, hey B& R....I am loving the sets this morning...
Such a beautiful song on the most wonderful Coldplay album.
Very nice! Better live!
Takes me back.
Coldplay, in what was undoubtedly their finest hour.
Please play it again.

really like this album, don't like the stuff much that came after this
The knocks on this band and song are unwarranted.  They're good.

I wonder, so many users dont like coldplay. They are one of the most beloved bands in europe.Specially the live performances are beautiful. But , okay i am a big fan of them...

I second that!

That's what I love about this guy - his nasally whine.  So appealing to the female gender.
Actually this is quite refreshing after hearing Viva la vida ten times a day on the radio.

Nothing like a good whiner song with awesome muscianship to help you when you're blue.{#Yes}
I fell asleep and was woken up by this nightmare whining that sent me to sleep in the first place.  Yuk!  Don't often express such contempt - except for Coldplay and Phil Collins.

Wish there was a negative rating button...

Seeing them in August. Can't wait.
Please make this horrible whining man stop....
i very much like coldplay's first two albums. i very much don't like coldplay's last two albums.

lovely song.
Wow. This takes me back, in a would-like-to-sit-and-sob-quietly kind of way.
Trouble, bubble, middle...

Much better. this is called music. Let's keep playing music. Lovin' the music. It does the body, mind and soul righteously.

This is Terrible!  They are the "TROUBLE"! Please Stop it!
21.51 p.m. nice song to continue my night

Listen to Parachutes start to finish and if you still don't appreciate Coldplay, you probably never will.

BILL!!  YOU ARE MY PERSONAL HERO TODAY!

My favorite coldplay song.  I love it. Thank you. {#Jump}
Fantastic early Coldplay.
ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I just can't appreciate this band though I keep trying.

Hey lay off, it's the only riff he knows.
Nice. Simple and direct without feeling trite. Coldplay at their best IMO.
Great. Its been so long since I heard this song, especially on R.P. Glad its back. excellent selection.
what a beautiful song... when a musician's heart speaks sincerely, this is what may goes out.... not so many artists are able to do that....

Can't stand the stuff these guys put out. Sounds like the singer's half asleep.
Haven't heard this in a while. I always liked "Parachutes". Too bad I can't find my copy of it anymore! Have to dig through my piles of CDs one more time when I come home.

I don't know why everyone gets all worked up about Coldplay. Sometimes don't ya just want to listen to some nice, quiet, introspective music?
Yes, and it's actually pretty pleasant until that little voicecrack as he goes to falsetto and then, at least for me, it goes from "nice, quiet, introspective" to wholly intolerable. Sorry, just can't get past those annoying vocals. Okay, I get it, he can hit high notes when he goes to falsetto. Just because you CAN do something, doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD. Just my humble opinion, but you asked...
Hey, its the fruit of the loom commercial.

Kind of an entertaining music video there.

Whenever I hear the opening piano notes my heart lifts--an REM song I don't know! Then reality sets in: another Coldplay song. Sigh.

Perfection
I really can't understand why there is SO much comparison, negative or not, between these guys and U2. Yes - they can sound very similar, but there are so many thousands of other bands out there that sound alike, in all music genres!! Who really cares THAT much. And if you do - surely listening to just about every tune in RP (or anywhere else) would invoke similar angst towards whoever the hell sounds like them too! How many TRULY unique sounds are there?

This is more like U2 lite.
The opening strains of piano just wrenched me emotionally from everything on which I was working... That kind of rection to this amazing song earns it a 10.
What a song!!!

My favorite Coldplay track.
Like Chris Rock said, music to slit your wrists to.
Spare, sincere lyric, beautifully sung, elegantly accompanied. Hope it helps save some relationships, or provides a positive role model for some clueless male adolescents.
\"...here am i in my little bubble...\" i just freakin\' love this song...

Different album ladyj. Trouble's from their first album Parachutes. This was the song that first made me fall in love with Coldplay. Beautiful vocals.
Is very nice to have a band around that is this good. Let's hope they have longevity. The vocals make me think how nice it would be if Jeff Buckley were still with us.
One of the best uses of music on a television show. This song was used as the finale for the first season of The Shield. It was gut wrenching
this song sounds like another song on the album. \"In My Place\" I think. But maybe they wanted it to. All the same or not still a nice listen.
This song brings tears to my eyes... in a good way...
someone rated this a 1?
awesome track
