EXCELLENT!!  Thanx RP!
Masterful.  And then the vocalist joined in....
My once-in-a-lifetime trip to Montreau for the jazz fest heard some great music - Dr. John, Forplay, Trombone Shorty. Bob Dylan. But there's only so much one can fit in. I would dearly love to go back to stay for the full two (three?) weeks, to experience the vast schedules that Funky Claude puts together. I did not, unfortunately, see Shakti.
Holy Guacamole Batman, this one just swings. Loving the McLaughlin licks and Shankar's work is seriously tasty. Thanks Rebecca and Bill for the intro to another great tune. Opening with a easy 8 from South Billyburg!

Well a month later the price is up to $631, but keep in mind this is a 17 or 18 CD box set...But probably out of print.  John McLaughlin is a special artist with specisl connections.  If I ever saw this at a yard sale I'd snatch it up or if I hit the lottery!

The Mahavishnu goes full-on ... with fantastic success!

Briefly wondered that myself, before I noted the overwhelming Indian music components and noted the name Shakti as in "Shakti John McLaughlin".(Hadn't heard him in many years - turns out this is recent) But let me let you in on something that I was slow to pick up on myself. There are very few questions of this sort that can't be answered by using the links immediately above the "Ratings" bar, such as the AMG ("All Music Guide") Entry, or Google, or the Amazon reviews. Won't even be asking about lyrics anymore, now that I know most are online.
It\'s nice, through the goods works of RP, to connect w/ this part of John McL\'s career. I\'ve got Apocalyse in my collection, but first time I\'ve heard this.
Is that Metheny playing, or ...?
What a fine assemblage of extraordinary musical souls... I had the opportunity to see this group in Santa Cruz way back when in \'78. An incredibly intense performance. Memorable.
I am a sucker for blazingly fast finger work...and I like quickly played guitar too. This has got an Indian raga feel, with an Al Dimeola prescence without the pretension. Nice groove.
Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy keewwwllll! It\'s all World music, after allllllllllllllllllll!
Rock. This is good. Me likes it.
Pretty cool. Reminded me of Al DiMeola which would sound nice here.
John McLaughlin Rules!
Metheny-like guitar. I\'m liking this. \"pretty good\".
This is a little too manic for me. Perhaps it\'s just my mood this evening.
interesting... I\'d like to hear more of this stuff... Indian meets rock and/or jazz is intriquing. Can we hear some more Shakti?
I\'m tappin\' MY foot. Not sure I could listen to it all day, but it\'s a nice departure from the norm.
