yo i could see her lying back in a satin dress
in a room where you do what you dont confess
she was a high pocket rumblin, movin in the ovenin
turntablein turnta b whats the deal

somtimes i ryme slow, somtimes i ryme quick
when its time to get busy out the hat comes a trick

so when the sun goes down you better take care
for find youve been creepin round my back stair

sundown you better take care, if i find youve been creepin round my back stair

shes a queen, lookin mean, and a sailors dream
she gotta come clean, say what she mean
shes gotta fess up, yo is her dress up?
oh indeed, and tell em how it is b, bring em up to speed

somtimes i ryme slow, somtimes i ryme quick
when its time to get busy out the hat comes a trick

its a shame when the game leaves you out the frame
its the love for the sinister losing it again

sometimes i think its a shame when i get feeling better when im feeling no pain

see i could picture every move a man could make
you took steps, you fell in love and thats your first mistake
you in a hole, gotta poll, but you shimmy up the wrong way

hey yo the suns going down and i feel like its my last day

sundown you better take care, if i find youve been creepin round my back stair

sometimes i think its a sin when i feel like im winning when im losing again

yo sometimes the silence is just so valueable sometimes

she lay her head down, pink frown, sad cause shes lost out
a big city hat who goes for minds one trip
day by day with sunshine soak in a room back sunlight

yo i could see her lying back in a satin dress
in a room where you do what you dont confess
sundown (x3)

I could picture every move a man could make
getting lost in a lot theres your first mistake
sundown (x3)

she was looking fast in the faded jeans
now shes a hard lovin woman gotta know what i mean
she stepped up in the spot
she made the spot hot
give it away, give it away yeaaaaa

sometimes i think its a shame when i get feeling better when im feeling no pain
and sundown you better take care, if i find youve been creepin round my back stair
sundown you better take care, if i find youve been creepin round find youve been creepin round my back stair
and sometimes i think its a sin when i think like im winning when im losing again

i like gordon's version.  but i think that this in a catchy, intriguing update of a classic.
we all stand on the shoulders of giants don't we?

No, no, no, no, no! Bill, please admit you made a mistake with this one.

And, please play the original, it looks like hasn't been played in years (ever?)

I have no problem with rap on RP.

But this as far from good rap as I am from being a dolphin.

icckky-poo!
Let's just say up front that I'm not a rap fan by any measure - it's more the message than the music that often offends me. It'd also be brutally candid for me to state that I wouldn't crawl through broken glassto listen to Lightfoot, either, although he's done some really good work.

But this was such a strange and original combination that it made me stop everything I was doing to listen. Credit where credit's due, duly noted and deserved IMHO. {#Rolleyes}
I like this version better than Gordon's original. (Lightfoot's songs always seemed sappy to me.)

I really don't like this song either but, you think rap has -NO- place on RP? And you know the definition of 'eclectic?' Bill may disagree that any real rap song (this cover doesn't qualify!) could blend into his mix — DJ's prerogative — but there is some excellent stuff out there that doesn't get mainstream play, or rap artists that don't get enough.

I don't get it when people join this listening community and start laying out their own narrow parameters of what -kind- of songs belong on a station that tells you upfront will be playing an eclectic mix. That's far beyond questioning the quality of an individual song.

Me too, but this is far better than expected. It works in spite of itself.

I grew up hearing the original on top 40 in transit via ole yellow school bus... almost makes me miss that good ole AM radio! I prefer the original, admit to a strong dislike of rap, unless you count Blondie, yet still find this cover quite interesting. Can't seem to figure how to rate this one just yet...

This is what RP is all about.... definitely different and a twist on eclectic, but can't say I hate or even dislike this one. Can't see it in common rotation. Otherwise, I say this one needs a few more listens to even attempt rating it.

Cheers and keep the peace.

I found it a catchy take on the old Gordon Lightfoot tune. Thanks for playing it!
what a freaking rip off.......this COMPLETELY SUCKS! I WAS READY TO HEAR THE ORIGINAL AND WAS VERY HAPPY TILL BILL DROPPED THIS BOMB (BAD) ON ME. OMG, WTF?
What the Hell? Rappin Lightfoot? EGAD Not good. . . but better than I expected after getting half way through....If Bill stops playing it, my feelings won't be hurt, but it is not quite mute material.
I tend to be of the opinion that you can't spell crap without... well, you get the idea. There are rare exceptions, though, and this is one of them. Elwood puts an interesting and catchy twist on an old classic, adding a nice groove whilst giving a nod to Gordon Lightfoot's unique vocal style.
That was fun. I liked it.
I think it's an original idea to cover this and do something different with it - if I were GL I'd be flattered.
I like this -- they successfully take an iconic 70's tune and put their own spin on it, while maintaining a connection to the original. I don't think I'd like to hear it all the time, but every once in a while to break things up it'd be a good choice.
Hey there y'all. I was just going to bed and heard this and had to sit and listen. I liked Gordon Lightfoot's version of course, but that was like 30 years ago! I like this version, although I don't like most rap... Thanks again Bill for stretching my limits.

That was rap?
I gave this a rating of 'one', but this implies recalibrating every other track that I had previously rated a 'one' to a higher score. Doh!
Oh, c'mon, it's not that bad.
I love how BillG dusted this off after 5 years. And everybody's drinking the haterade!
Of the thousands of songs I've rated, I've given only five 1s. Now there are six.

all music has a place and someone who will appreciate its artistry....keep on tearing down those barriers Bill!
Horrible

It's not often that I turn off RP. This was one of those occasions. Please remove this little ditty from the play list at the earliest opportunity lest all our heads explode. Chris
ARE YOU KIDDING ME !!!? WORTHLESS, OF NO VALUE, A JOKE, SICKENING, LIKE FINGERNAILS ON A BLACKBOARD, ETC.

Nicely Said. But still.........
sacrilege
Nope... not this... not ever! This shows no trace of anything resembling talent or originality. Just more of the rap-crap the mass media is trying to shove down our throats at the expense of our cultural sense of balance. I come here to get away from this junk. Gordon Lightfoot needs no help with his song!
I think the important thing to remember here is the word \"eclectic\". I rather enjoyed that song.
Sicko-barfo. ugh.
Sounds like Bono there at the end singing \"I\'m losing again, I\'m losing\"

hahah!!! AVERT to that thought! www.suncat.net
\"Sometimes I think it\'s a shame\" when totally talentless groups try to hide that fact by ripping off good songs.
I'd rather not hear either.

I think this is fun and better than the original, but then again I never was a G. Lightfoot fan.
OY!!!!!
this really sucks ::vomit::
Well, my sweetie, Barb, can dance do it, so she gives it an 8. I have to agree, since I was the beneficiary of her dancing. Also keeps you awake better than the original.
Aw heck, he can do that if he wants ta.....

I enjoy hearing a re-make that has been done in an entirely different style . . . when it works. THIS DOESN'T please make it stop!
It\'s OK, but I think the original would have been a better followup to Zappa.
sums up my feelings about this...

Reminds me very much of BHole Surfers' 'Doin it in Texas'. (Not sure if that is the name of the song.)
Hip hop, hip hop, hip hop... Sundown?! I love when RP finds something like this that takes something familiar and throws me for a loop. :)
I\'d rather hear the original.

This wasn\'t that good of a song to start with, and throwing some hip-hop (or whatever this is) at it doesn\'t make it any better.
I don\'t know why - it reminds me of Gorillaz\' \"Clint Eastwood\"
At times I get the feeling like perhaps you just shouldn\'t go there. This is so one of those times.
LOL, well, that gave me a good laugh. And the song is kind of cool to boot. Overall, I would have to say I like it.

I definitely see what you are saying. But I certainly liked this in the context presented today by Bill.
roll over, G. Lightfoot well that caught my attention at least

What a trip!
Bill, you masterfully got us to this point in the set. It WORKS, and I like it.
guess it works for me.
