Maybe this is forever
Forever fades away
Like a rocket ascending into space
Could you not be sad
Could you not break down
After all I won't let go

Until you're safe and sound
Until you're safe and sound
There's beauty in release
There's no one left to please
But you and me

I don't blame you for quitting
I know you really tried
If only you could hang on through the night
Cause I don't want to be lonely
I don't want to be scared
And all our friends are waiting there

Until you're safe and sound
Until you're safe and sound
There's beauty in release
There's no one left to please
But you and me

(Until you're safe and sound)
Feel like I could've held on
Feel like I could've let go
Feel like I could've helped you
Feel like I could've changed you
Feel like I could've held you
Feel like I could've hurt you
Feel like I was a stranger
Feel like I was an angel
Feel like I was a hero
Feel like I was a zero
Feel like I could've heard you
Feel like I could've held you
Feel like I could have touched you
Feel like I could've moved you
Feel like I could've healed you
Feel like I could've told you
Feel like I could've loved you
Feel like I could've loved you
Feel like I really loved you
Feel like I really loved you
Feel like I really loved you
Feel like I really loved you
Feel like I really loved you
Feel like I really loved you
Feel like I really loved you

I usually don't like Ms. Crow, but this song is one I LOVE (not to mention how appropriate it was to the movie it soundtracked!)
Blech...only Sheryl Crow can't sing like that!

Put me down for the former, no question. She's keeping alive good ol' rock-n-roll.
PLEASE PLEASE no more of this CRAP. I wouldn't feed this to my dog...
Not a big fan of this one. As previously mentioned, when she reaches for that upper regiser, she falls flat on her face. Flat. That's how to describe her voice...she has no depth, and it shows in the chorus.

awesome series of angelic voices this morning... I\'m thoroughly enjoying this!! How would I get through my workday without?!

I first heard this song (before the album was released) on the soundtrack (end credits) to Kevin Spacey's film "K-Pak". I searched everywhere for this song afterwards 'cuz it really haunted me (in a good way, obviously!)...I don't think the movie ever released a soundtrack. Then I heard her sing it on the Tribute album...wow. I still get a really strong reaction whenever I hear it. Powerful.
I think K-Pak's are what cottonballs come in...which is what I'll be needing after this melodrama. (I'm pretty sure the movie was K-Pax) Sorry, no fan here. #-o

Search limewire for her unplugged version of "My Favourite Mistake": it's stunning - beautifully sung and very moving.

Sheryl\'s nothing to \"crow\" about!

I, on the other hand, saw her as a part of the first Lilith Fair and she sounded EXCELLENT.
People either love Sheryl Crow or hate her. Put me down for the latter.... :D
Just because she's overplayed doesn't mean her music is bad. Stop listening to bland, repetitive commercial radio if it bothers you! :)
Blech...
I think she really lets it all out - yet maintains vocal quality and pitch.
Every time she goes for power on this one, she sounds like she\'s about to puke.
YUK!

HEY! I'm neither smelly nor do I dislike her! ;)

Hmm, I had a different experience. Saw her open for the Stones at the Staple center in LA and she was right on. Crowd seemed to enjoy her despite the anxiousness for the Stones to appear. (don't remember anything about barley though)
Sheryl writes interesting songs and this is one of those that make you think a bit. Now don\'t laugh but the Sheryl Crow song \"Father Sun\" on Wynonna Judd\'s Tell Me Why album is one of my favorites. It would be a good tune for RP also.

Had she perhaps been drinking barley?
A bad choice on Ms Crow\'s part. She simply doesn\'t have the voice to carry this song off.
This is one of her most beautiful songs.
She has just never seemed to get off the ground. I was hoping Clapton could have infused her with some soul, but alas no. Hers is a generic sound, a wanna be rocker without the edge or individuality it takes to uniquely define oneself. She makes safe music that occassionally experiments with a few very old devices. Maybe someday...
This is more annoying than engaging...

Somebody kill you dog today? I like it... current yet Beatlesque.

I don't know, I think she pulls it off. Her voice is solid all the way through and it fits the title of the song - a little imploring or plaintive sounding.
Ow.
Well, this is rather appros of this evening, isn\'t it?
This is what I call a \'schlock attack.\' This is some really grating stuff.
Why does she try to sing in that annoying upper register?
Good stuff. I like Sheryl a lot. I'm glad my smelly hippie acquaintances don't. Then I'd know something was wrong with her. :)

Yes, her name is Sheryl Crow. Give credit where credit is due, please, she wrote the piece ! She's a true professional, not some empty beautiful head. Why did you think so? Only because she's a woman? If so, plz check your own convictions! Yes, man are better at some things (I mean things like making war ). Music happens to be an area where this just isn't the case.

You'll be glad, then, to know I recently uploaded that live version... :)
This new album has been a surprise because it\'s quite good.
love me some Sheryl :p
i\'m a fan.

I completely agree. Globe Sessions is brilliant, totally underrated by the sophisticates. I wasn't too happy about the new album, but I love this song.
A very powerful convergence of feeling and tone. Wow! Masterful in voice, lyric, and arrangement.

This song has an epic feel. Her music is more complex then she gets credit for, IMO.

The more I listen, the more subtle lines I hear...this reminds me of Crash and Burn, the song which won me over for good. Both of these songs deserve to be heard mainly through a good pair of headphones for full effect.
