You're high, I love it
Inside and all of your days
Feel everyday
You're high, so don't look down

And when you touch a little bit dies in me
And in yer eyes
Alive for all the world to see
And what of life?
There's a god, asylum comes to me

Define the limits
In kind and I'll stay with your ways
Feel everyday
You're high, so don't look down, down, down

And when you touch a little bit dies in me
And in yer eyes
Alive for all the world to see
And what of life?
It's a kill, the way it's seen to be
And now for you
There's a god, asylum comes to me

And when you touch a little bit dies in me
And in yer eyes
Alive for all the world to see
And what of life?
It's a kill, the way it's seen to be
And now for you
A fire, and anyone can see

When you touch a little bit dies in me
And in yer eyes
There's a god, asylum comes to me

Good tune, good harmonies but the lyrics -> pure fromage {#Confused}
If you ever catch me complain about the 80's flavor of this s'single click' on my computer, let me know... pull tabs to pop tabs... I liked the 80's, not necessarily musically....skinny ties will always suck...

A little Psychedelic Furs with the Church. Nice.

Good call!

to be honest - not one of their better songs or albums.  The first or second album are pretty fantastic...
Ummm, good!
Fantastic band, but not their most catchy, arresting song. I recall that Babe Rainbow was my least favorite album of theirs. Still, great to hear them again and I recommend you check them out.
Very tasty!
kinda drags on.....{#Sleep}

This isn't the Church?

I still can't believe it.

I'd like to also support the motion for more from The House of Love on RP. Terrific band. I love all the songs that have been mentioned here. If anybody feels inclined to upload "Shine on", please make sure it's the original version (e.g. off the Creation Recordings compilation), not the "polished" re-recording. A couple of other favourites of mine that I haven't seen mentioned here are "Loneliness is a gun" and "32nd floor".

Nicely crafted song.
I can hear why you say so, but HOL are much more subtle and sophisticated songmeisters, and that first album of theirs still sounds amazing ahoylola wrote:

Their single "I Don't Know Why I Love You" is incredible. This doesn't reach that high...
And how about "Shine On"?

So far one of the best on an otherwise bland day of music..

Hey they spelled Your wrong. Kum on Kum on spelin fanatikz dun holed bak now!
Actually "Yer" is the name of the drummer's girlfriend's cousin's neighbour's dog about whom the song was written. And by the way, you've misspelled "spelling".
A little Psychedelic Furs with the Church. Nice.
I hear a "little bit" of every 80's band in there. The Church, The Fixx etc.
Hey they spelled Your wrong. Kum on Kum on spelin fanatikz dun holed bak now!
Check out 'Destroy the Heart' off their first ep if you like their sound. Top stuff.
does this sound like James to anyone else?
Very cool...another band I've never listened to.
The last three songs on this set House of Love - Yer Eyes,Yardbirds - Shapes Of Things, The Stone Roses - Love Spreads have been great. Why can't I catch sets like this during the day?
Wow! This band is a dead ringer for the Church. Nice pick Bill! Have to check these guys out.
Great song!

Finally one of my uploads makes it into the rotation! Surely one of the most underrated (and underachieving) bands of all time. If you like this one, you'll be glad to hear that there's a new HOL single coming on Valentine's Day and whole album later in February. Guy and Terry have finally put the past behind them and the band are playing gigs in Ireland and England right now. Hopefully they can make it over to the US, too.
Underachieving? How so? Please explain. I am not sure how you measure underachievement in a band.

I'm trying to get "Beatles and the Stones (16/4)" and "In a Room (4/3)" uploaded. They've been languishing in the LRC for weeks.
Play again! House of Love are very good !

Leave it to RP to bring a really great obscure band from the past into the light! Loved them!

Charlatans + Love and Rockets... A 6.
Erg, that should have been Charlatans + Church. Thanks , Bill!
HOL are kings. Not heard them for ages. Saw them in the Albert Hall a long time ago - had a ball and went home in a shopping trolley. Bloody students.
More, more, MORE House of Love on RP !!!! I suggest: - Shine On, for the uninitiated, so they'll say "Hey, but I know this band actually !" ;) - Beatles and The Stones - I don't know why I love you (unexhaustive list) Please please someone upload them (I was stolen my CD collection 10 years ago :()
Every now and then (in the low parts), the vocalist sounds a bit like Mark Knopfler.
Charlatans + Love and Rockets... A 6.

Sounds like Slowdive too...

Acutally I like both...for very different reasons... HOL's has wonderful arrangments and melodies. Softer than the Smiths. But darn good nevertheless. They are not mutually exclusive IMHO.

what a great song. what a great band.
Excellent album! Not one bad tune in the bunch!
I missed this song when you played it...just checked and see it's the first time for a House of Love track They are a most welcome addition to the list of bands you play....they had loads of gems!
I just love his voice!!! I have their first 2 cds. So nice to hear them again. It's been too long!!
I love this band! Thanks RP!
