Life is a mystery
Everyone must stand alone
I hear you call my name
And it feels like home

When you call my name, it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour, I can feel your power
Just like a prayer, you know I'll take you there

I hear your voice, it's like an angel sighing
I have no choice, I hear your voice, feels like flying
I close my eyes, oh God I think I'm falling
Out of the sky, I close my eyes, Heaven help me

When you call my name it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour, I can feel your power
Just like a prayer, you know I'll take you there

Like a child, you whisper softly to me
You're in control, just like a child, now I'm dancing
It's like a dream, no end and no beginning
You're here with me, it's like a dream, let the choir sing

When you call my name, it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour, I can feel your power
Just like a prayer, you know I'll take you there

When you call my name, it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour, I can feel your power
Just like a prayer, you know I'll take you there

Life is a mystery
Everyone must stand alone
I hear you call my name
And it feels like home

Just like a prayer, your voice can take me there
Just like a muse to me, you are a mystery
Just like a dream, you are not what you seem
Just like a prayer, no choice your voice can take me there

Just like a prayer, I'll take you there
It's like a dream to me
Just like a prayer, I'll take you there
It's like a dream to me

Just like a prayer, I'll take you there
It's like a dream to me
Just like a prayer, I'll take you there
It's like a dream to me

Just like a prayer, your voice can take me there
Just like a muse to me, you are a mystery
Just like a dream, you are not what you seem
Just like a prayer, no choice your voice can take me there

Huh...I never listened to this whole song before. I don't think I have any reason to listen to it again, but I like that I got the chance.

Thanks, Bill.
WTF?
Ismael Lo followed by Madonna!.  If there's another radio station on this planet that does eclectic better than RP I'd like to hear it.   Awesome stuff Bill & Rebecca....keep it up.
Bill... are you okay?
Time to dust off the stick, poke people and make sure they're awake hey Bill?

My only question is how in holy **** is this 1989 ?

I had a feeling this track was different than my ears remember from when I was but an adolescent.  For a moment I thought BillG segued from this to Samantha Fox.  Long Live RP!!

First thought it would be a cover.   Now after not hearing this in decades, it is really good to listen to (and will be again in another 10 years).
I want to turn it up but afraid I would have to some 'xplaining to do to my employees.
Ahahahhahaa, Jeff Buckley followed by Madonna! Gotta love RP for that..

This is not funny. If it's an experiment, I'm leaving. If I ever, EVER hear Madonna again on RP, I'm gone. There's enough ... weird ... stuff here, as is. But to receive such a distasteful, undeserved, unprecedented slap across the face via Internet radio from the Queen of Slut Pop is too much to take. The reason I've got RP on in the first place (and generally appreciating it very much) is to drown out the radio station playing just this kind of CRRRRRRRRRRRAP throughout the halls five days/week, 9 hours/day. This is not a small deal for those of us here to escape this. It's equivelant to going for a swim to cool down and getting struck by lighting.

You spelled equivelant wrong. It's spelled "equivalent."
I'm no fan of Madonna, but I appreciate this particular song and I really like the way that it follows Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley, which is a masterpiece.

This is the type of thoughtful programming that I come to Radio Paradise to enjoy. Thanks, Bill and Rebecca!

Applause for this song, even though it's nowhere near my favorite.  Music isn't politics or hipness.  People come to RP because they hate how much is excluded from mainstream radio or in popular culture.  It's hypocritical to get exclusionary here.  I'd like to hear more pop hits that blend in with the songs before and after.  Music itself is good.

I laughed. I commented. Right on, Bill.
LOL.  I love it when Bill dusts off an old "Hater" and throws it back into rotation from time to time.

Can't help it, it made me chair dance a bit.  Let's follow this up with some Abba...
Totally enjoyable. Turning up the volume.
One can just imagine all of the heads exploding all around the RP globe as this started to play.

Cheers Bill.
I love Madonna. She's so hot right now.

Really Bill?!
You were just seeing if we were paying attention, right?

Mercy. I can stand Madonna. I even like some songs. But not this.
It's not cool to like Madonna but I dig this song! I like the original version better.
Not sure what I'm laughing about more - the fact that Madonna is playing on RP or the hate being spewed by the listeners.

It's music, folks.  Personally I'd rather listen to Madonna and watch my wife shake her booty while we cook than suffering while Tom Waits burps his way through another pseudo-intellectual "song."
wow, have not heard this on RP! I can see why others would not be happy but I love it!
Loving the skip function.
Awww, Bill, too far. You’ve gone. Too. Far. Just say NO!
This song epitomizes RP! 5+2 for making the wife smile.
Long Live RP!!

Right? Totally agree.

2018, now officially the year of things literally nobody asked for

https://www.google.com/search?q=nobody+asked&oq=nobody+asked
Back in the 80's, the sing-out challenge was Madonna vs Cyndi Lauper.  Cyndi always won with me, 'cause she had a voice.  Madonna's voice is too tinny, the arrangements too juvenile, the posing too cute.  Is Madonna still putting out albums?  Or is she too busy with her castle in Britain.?  And loudly defending her rights as an ARTIST?
Great set, Bill!
Madonna! {#Music}
Cool - 51 one votes (25%) and 24 tens (12%)  at this point in time. I don't like the song.

Edit: By the end of the tune, one more one vote bringing it to 52.

Edit 2: alas, one more one vote, as Van Morrison whines. 53.

That's why i love RP.  the subtle themes he puts together like this one.
This comment section is hilarious. Everyone freaks out in 2004, there's a 14 year hiatus, then it's played twice in July 2018. RP continues to be the best.

See y'all in 2032.
Wow.  Never thought I hear Madonna on RP.  Of course I also said that about Deadmau5.

Didn't care for Madonna "back then"; not a fan now.  She gets a PSD from me.

I do, however, respect Bill for playing a wide variety of music including some I'm not a fan of.

Twice in the same month? Why? Why at all?
This is truly the music mix! I love you RP!!!
No, no, no!  WHY?  Please stop!
...I never would have imagined that one day, after 15 years I listen to this Radio, I could hear Madonna on Radio Paradise... I'm disappointed {#Frown}, you know it!
You won't add "Sister Sweetly" from Big Head Todd & The Monsters despite a 15/4 thumbs-up/thumbs-down ratio from the preview listeners, or Ween's "A Tear for Eddie" despite a 13/4 ratio, but you'll add this workaday dreck? WTF?

Brillianly put my friend. On some level, I agree with EVERY previous comment here (except the parts about leaving RP). The fact that Bill plays this adds a certain legitimacy to RP's format, or lack thereof. It’s a validation, enjoy the revenue from it kids!
I think that bill is playing with us all. This song has more comments on it than probably any other song on here. It is the song that you either love or love to hate. You decide! :|

Been smokin' again? ;)
What I think is the most fascinating about her is that she's not really a great singer nor dancer and maybe not even that good looking but made the best out it with tremendous, unequalled success. Maybe if she had been an exceptional good dancer and singer with the greatest looks, people (women) couldn't have identified with her that well. Her impact on society can hardly be overrated.
They play Madonna but refuse my Rush uploads!!!! Any more of this crap and I'm walking!!!!!
This has no place on RP!!!! 1.
I beg your pardon?
Ahhhh, the lack-of-material girl.

Au contraire to your au contraire. I take what enters my ears and, thus, my brain this seriously. However, my anti-Madonna diatribe, though based on musical principals and opinions, was mainly for the fun of spouting off.

UK slang variant of: to whine, to complain about something not very important. I didn't know it was specifically Brit. But come to think of it, I may have picked it up via Monty Python.

Wait!!!! there was ice cream. Nobody said anything about ice cream. I'll be good now, i'll just buckle and listen to mediocre pop music for ice cream. I mean come on people there is ice cream to be had.

3.5 and falling...

Heh - the first time Bill's dared to play this one in nearly two years! I, too, quickly logged on to see if I was still listening to RP - but I'm fine with it. I think it's a great song, regardless of what Madonna means/represents to a lot of people. This whole album, actually, is her best. Bravo, Bill!
Bill deserves a good laugh. As for the disk being her best, there isn't much competition and this is, after all, her "Greatest Hits." I actually fell madly in love when my date starting singing Into the Groove. But, forget about her forgettable music, Madge is probably the most brilliant businesswoman in the world..........

OMG

Sorry can't ever stand her...something just grates me when I hear her...a personal thing I guess...I should at least like her voice but my dislike for her and her hypocrisy gets in the way
What's with the ABBA on RP? I'd much rather hear some Madonna or something.

I did a real take when the choir came in at the beginning, looking around like, "where's that coming from ?" Let's see what kind of crop of whinges we get this time.
Nothing cranked up a college party during the first half of the 90s like this song. Hell, I'd guess it has the same effect now. Great for light rotation here, I think.
The only cool thing about this song is the controversy once created by its video...the one thing Madonna seems to do really well.
Wow... Madonna on RP? Looks like this is the first time in almost 2 years it's been played. I think I'm the only person who doesn't mind. I, too, had to take a double-take to see if iTunes hadn't switched stations on me. This is one of my "last mile" songs. If I'm out running and I need an extra push for the last couple of miles, I have a separate playlist on my iPod that I switch to. I didn't think I would hear any of those songs on RP. (There isn't any Dashboard Confessional on the RP playlist is there? Because "Hands Down" gets me going like nothing else.) For me it's the gospel choir that gets me moving. There's a Rock n Roll Marathon and a Country Music Marathon, but if there is ever a Gospel Choir Marathon, i'm gonna run it.
Ummmm. No. Just no.
I find Madonna really interesting. Whatever crap she's putting out now is terrible, but the stuff she did 5 years ago is was really good pop. And I could have said the same thing any time in the last 15 years, and it still would have been true. And this has always been one of my favorite old Madonna songs...
Ouch! No. Please. No. I'm gonna say a little prayer that you guys don't play this again.
we're all praying... that this will end soon and never EVER come back.
3.9 rating and my 1 didn't make a difference. Damn you Madonna.

Well, what to say. First, this sucks compared to the original version that Madonna did (which was ok I guess). Second neither can touch that great bluegrass cover played here by Elena Skye.
Whoa, I guess people are paying attention... :p
Like a dream to me...... Howling here!!!
Well....Madonna isn\'t that bad for a POP artist, but I wouldn\'t expect to find her here at Radio Paradise. I kinda though of this station as a \"songwriter\'s\" station. And she isn\'t really a songwriter. But....variety is good.
I definitely prefer Elena Skye\'s version.

I had to double check my computer to see if i still had Radio Paradise on. Not a good choice for Madonna songs. I\'m not a fan, but she has better tunes out there.
I am the first! Wheee! This song doesn\'t seem to fit into the RP music selection.
