Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand.... and now I'm hungry like the wolf.... Do do do do do do.... Despite the similarities - it's still chill - good for ambient at work I suppose.

That's just what I've been thinking. This music is just a little more whiny-sounding, Depeche Mode-y and Tears for Fears-ish than Beta Band -

Thank you for your attention to this matter. ..was kidding.. ;)
I have to get my hands on this CD. I had it on vinyl way back when. Don't know where that record ended up.
Wow, the production is kind of over-thunk, but I think these guys are excellent. There's no crime in liking quirky song-writing, right?

I never wanted to hear them. Sounds like art students on heavy tranquilizers.
Argh! These guys are such great songwriters!! and this is one of my favorite examples of the craft. Thanks Bill!
nice guy 2005 is RIGHT. my goodness....

My favorite XTC period is this album combined with Oranges and Lemons. Mmmmm, oranges...

Well, then, your statement should have been " the Beta Band is kinda XTC-ish..", then, hey.

This CD is a masterpiece from start to finish!
XTC's music has always been spotty for me, running the gamut from self-important to ineffectual, but this cut is excellent!! Absolutely dreamy.

Except that the Beta Band formed in 1997 while XTC has been around since at least the early 80's.

Forgot how much I loved this album. May have to replace the vinyl with a new CD...
It's good to hear this terrific song from Skylarking. Dear God is a good song, but hardly the best -- or only good song -- from the album.
Beta Bandish...
NEAT! Unheard XTC! A 7. MORE CHRISTMAS TUNES PLEASE! THEY'RE OUT THERE.
Wow Bill - Tull and now XTC - you've made my morning nearly complete - thanks! XTC must be the most underrated band in history!

good stuff!
One of my favourite tracks from Skylarking! Thank you! I'd love to hear other tracks from this album -- Ballet for a Rainy Day, 1000 Umbrellas, Man Who Sailed Around His Soul... you can't go wrong. Actually, now that I think about it, it would be fantastic to hear the whole album played someday. As a song cycle of a life, birth to death, it's great to hear the whole thing unfold.
Yay!!
What a great song. The whole album is absolutely brilliant. You just made my night...
What a wunnerful song
Wow, I was really happy to hear this song.
Well, here ya go! ;) veegez wrote:
A strong cut off of my favorite XTC album. Hope it gets played sometime.
