Woman in chains
Woman in chains

Calls her man the great white hope
Says she's fine, she'll always cope
Woman in chains
Woman in chains

Well, I feel lying and waiting is a poor man's deal
And I feel hopelessly weighed down by your eyes of steel
Well, it's a world gone crazy
Keeps woman in chains

Trades her soul as skin and bone
Sells the only thing she owns
Woman in chains
Woman in chains

Men of stone
Men of stone

Well, I feel deep in your heart there are wounds time can't heal
And I feel somebody somewhere is trying to breathe
Well, you know what I mean
It's a world gone crazy
Keeps woman in chains

It's under my skin but out of my hands
I'll tear it apart, but I won't understand
I will not accept the greatness of man

It's a world gone crazy
Keeps woman in chains

So free her
So free her
So free her
So free her
So free her
So free her
So free her
So free her
So Free Her

EXCELLENT TUNE!!  I never heard it before.  Thanx RP!
I first heard this while recovering from a abusive marriage. It spoke to my soul.

Some get it, some do not. Sorry, but this is an absolutely brilliant song, and album.

Me too! Own them all.
Gargh. Drivel. EDIT: Endless drivel.
Beautiful vocal harmony.

Boring and way too commercial.
Shoot me in the face, this is awful.

ya know, typically i like these guys, and i've always thought oleta adams had a great voice. not a terrible song, either. but the production is way way overdone. from the late 80s-early 90s multi-culti days (see peter gabriel us, johnny clegg/savuka, etc.) Some of those songs made good use of that sound, but most were just annoying. this one, 5.
Absolutly wonderful! TFF did create some masterpieces.

This song isn't discovering much aside from the mute button on my headphones. This is bordering on abysmal.

Going back to a wonderful time. I love it.

It could be argued that the original album, Seeds of Love, is overproduced. It took them six years to finish it. Much of that time was spent with infighting between Curt and Roland I'm sure. Nonetheless as a complete work it rises way above the saccharine pop and rock that dominated the late 80's. The same could be said about the previous Songs from the Big Chair. They are musically unique for their time. This doesn't mean everyone should like it of course. But TFF is an interesting phenomenon in the popular music world. I love this record. I do think the digital recording can be a bit flat but it is an otherwise fantastic achievement in production. It was clearly painstakingly recorded with great attention to detail. In a rare occasion for a rock/pop record the songs and musicianship really live up to the ambition of the production. Big name studio musicians such as Robbie McIntosh, Simon Phillips, and Manu Katche put in fitting contributions. Each song is unique and wonderfully realized as its own piece. Especially noted by TFF fans is the haunting final track, Famous Last Words. All of that said I always felt Seeds of Love was not recognized all that much for its greatness. Maybe it is just too unique in its ambitions. But that's just my opinion...
This is one of the best songs written IMO, the female vocalist is outstanding and I've heard it many times since it was released and it is still one of my top tens by far. loverofsaptotheveryend

This really hasn't held up very well over the years. Very dated sound.
What ever elevator this elevator music came from, is down, down, all the way to hell. With cancer... and john tesh, and richard gear....

This is a re-post but I couldn't help it. This song is so good..Great to hear it! Play more TFF, how about something from Raoul and the Kings of Spain?
This is pretty good. TFF certainly knew how to create magic sometimes.
One of my favorite TFF songs, mainly because of Oleta Adams's beautiful voice. Where is she? We need more singing like that out here.
i love them.

Wow! I haven't heard this in years! Time to space out and remember times gone by.
Pretty damn good. First time I've heard this particular track but have to admit I'm always a sucker for these guys.
Fine song, but there's a little too much reverb in the mix. (Typical of the 80s.)
brings back nice memories. thanks. :)
Nice 80s flashback.

There are a couple of songs in the catalog here on RP. I've requested them several times with no luck.
Love it, love it, love it. And Oleta Adams ain't bad either.
Makes me think of an old girlfriend, Linda G. We'd go at it for the emtire length of this album. Song for the Bad Man, or Bad Mans song had special meaning too. 9!
I guess I hear something much different than some of you because this is a 9.5 for me.

I beg to differ. So would the 7 rating. Very suprised, but happy, to hear this song on RP.
Every once in a while Tears For Fears created magic. The rest of the time they inflicted pure pain. "Woman In Chains" was about as painful as it got. That said, I caught them on TV recently playing cuts from their new cd-- Some real nice work. I'm planning to check it out.

Harmonies don't get much better than on this song. Can Oleta Adams sing or what?!
The Seeds of Love is still one of my favorite albums after all these years.

THIS SONG TOUCHES MY HEART.. ANYONE SEE BOXING HELENA?
Love the music. But the Halloween connection on this Frightful Friday is pretty darn weak. Woman "in Chains"? Come on.

Good to know. Here I am restarting my computer trying to figure out what the hell?
Now I know what all the previous comments were about this song "cutting short!" It only played for about one minute, then silence until the next song started. It is such a great song! Someone please fix problem so we all can hear it in its entirety!
I love this song, but the track still cuts short.

You gus are right...just cut out. Someone should send Bill an e-mail or a PM, that's crazy that that is still happening. But Ho-Hum rating anyhow.
Yup, cut short, again....
Still cutting out
I don't share the opinion that it's cutting short. I actually like it. I like the band, and I like this tune.

Interesting - I've had this CD (the greatest hits one) in the car this week. Don't know anything about the depth of their CD's/Albums, but their singles have really held up well through the years.
Yeah, it just cut out on me as well. Good song, though.

I'm so glad this was added. So many memories and it's just such a beautiful song.
Am I the only one who has this song cut out about a minute or so into it each time it\'s played? I\'m on the 128kb/s MP3 stream.
I love this song. I sometimes cry when I sing this song. it really fills my heart up.
There are a lot of other great songs on this CD too - try 'Badman's Song' for starters... Oops - that song would be on the original CD - Seeds of Love.
OMG! I haven\'t heard this song in years! I love it! Thank you for reminding me ... my god. wow. I bow to you, RP
I LOVE THIS SONG!!! Excellent choice!

One of my favorite TFF songs. Oleta Adams\' voice is amazing. (And, for the percussionists out there, that\'s Phil Collins on drums.)
