Is Dexter ill, Is Dexter ill, Is Dexter ill
Is Dexter ill today, Mr Kirk, Dexter's in school
I'm afraid he's not, Miss Fishpaw
Dexter's truancy problem is way out of hand
The Baltimore County school board have decided to expel
Dexter from the entire public school system

Oh Mr Kirk, I'm as upset as you to learn of Dexter's truancy
But surely, expulsion is not the answer!
I'm afraid expulsion is the only answer
It's the opinion of the entire staff that Dexter is criminally insane

That boy needs therapy, psychosomatic,
That boy needs therapy, purely psychosomatic
That boy needs therapy
Lie down on the couch! What does that mean?
You're a nut! You're crazy in the coconut!
What does that mean? That boy needs therapy
I'm gonna kill you, that boy needs therapy
Ranagazoo, let's have a tune
Now I'll count three
That, that, that, that, that boy.. boy needs therapy
He was white as a sheet
And he also made false teeth

Avalanches is above, business continues below
Did I ever tell you the story about
Cowboys! M-M-midgets, the Indians and Fron, Frontier Psychiatrist
I... I felt strangely hypnotized
I was in another world, a world of 20.000 girls
And milk! Rectangles, to an optometrist, the man with the golden eyeball
And tighten your buttocks, pour juice on your chin
I promise my girlfriend I'd, the violin, violin, violin ...

Frontier Psychiatrist
Frontier, frontier, frontier, frontier Psychiatrist
Frontier, frontier, frontier, frontier Psychiatrist
Frontier, frontier, frontier, frontier Psychiatrist

That boy needs therapy, psychosomatic
That boy needs therapy, purely psychosomatic
That boy needs therapy
Lie down on the couch, what does that mean?
You're a nut! You're crazy in the coconut!
What does that mean? That boy needs therapy
I'm gonna kill you, that boy needs therapy
Ranagazoo, let's have a tune
Now I'll count three
That, that, that, that, that boy.. boy needs therapy
He was white as a sheet
And he also made false teeth

Frontier Psychiatrist

Can you think of anything that talks, other than a person?
A-a a-a-a-a, a bird? Yeah!
Sometimes a parrot talks
Hello hello hello hello
Ha ha ha ha ha !!!!
Yes, some birds are funny when they talk
Can you think of anything else?
Um, a record, record, record !

With a little bit of Art of Noise thrown in as well.

i grew up with Frontier Psychiatrist as a track on a Wayne and Shuster comedy LP... They had such great humour. This track is just great because the samples bring back so many memories. I dug the LP out of storage just to listen to the whole thing again. Fab track.
I can't believe this is back! This always cracks me up. Well done.
The parrot chattering gets me every time!

You're sooooo lost.

That boy needs therapy.
I think I'm too old for this. Sounds like cartoon music. Interesting though.
This is pro-level mixology.
And he also made false teeth.............  but they can't talk either.
What is this madness? I like it....
480 comments... That has to be up there for shear number of comments. It is roughly one comment for every three ratings.

It's a creative and funny piece of music that has a great video. It takes your mind off the daily routine and puts a smile on your face. Good choice !
Anything that starts with Divine dialogue is Godlike
Tugging my insides all around on this crazy ride.

Giggling ...
From RJD2 earlier to the Avalanches.. what is up with you guys today... !!!!  Two of my favourite 'Unknown' bands.

It all makes sense when you watch the video — https://youtu.be/U8BWBn26bX0
I really like this - I think it just shouldn't be taken too seriously.. good fun, dynamic and original
Aaand.....there is PSD - Phew, that was a close one!

I agree. (1) The song is a hoot. (2) The image is gross--and even in this context doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.

Dexter: 2006
This song: 2001

so I'm going with (B)

I can compare the sound to nothing more aptly than to the roar of some dread monster of the vanished saurian age, when primal horrors roamed the earth, and Valusia's serpent-men laid the foundation-stones of evil magic. To such a roar - but swelled to deafening heights reached by no known organic throat - was this shocking sound akin.

Very lame....sucko barfo it is..
I love this wacky piece of music :)
Interesting. It reminds me of Big Audio Dynamite from the 80s.
Rap? Rap? I do not think that word means what you think it means.{#Ass}

How about "sample-based novelty"? Novelty numbers are fun from time to time.

Oh and gotta love the wavey ratings distribution on this one.

The vision and complete buy-in from everyone involved harkens of something Wes Anderson might have created.

Right on the money Dylan. The phrase 'creative piece of production' describes it exactly.
I absolutely detest rap.

This, however, is pretty freaking cool!
The inclusion of Avalanches on R.P. makes good sense.  If Beatles in the 60's David Bowie in the 70's and , um, what, (Black Flag?)  in the 80's can all be called 'Rock', the '00s  should have something that is a step forward too.The whole aesthetic of the Avalanches fits with the idea of young person's rock music and with rock being a living thing rather than originalist or revivalist.   Keep it up, Bill!

I agree that rap sucks (and drum & bass sucks too for that matter) but I never even considered that this is AT ALL like rap.  I think of this in the same category of Portishead or Massive Attack or older groups like Enigma or Art of Noise.

There is a lot that RP plays that sometimes makes me turn to another station (country, hick rock, CCR, Van Morrison, John Fogerty, Bob Dylan, etc), but then I appreciate the eclectic mix of RP and so I usually tolerate it for one or two "bad" songs.

{#Clap} Good post... Could include Cut Chemist in that list
WHAT THE h**ll &^$?bg$@ flying f**k sweet Lord IS THIS?

yuk
There are spooky people in this world.
I swear I no longer know if I like it or don't like it, but it is like a car accident, I....just.....can't....look....away.
gave me a headache.

would not listen to again.
Well let's hope Bill is getting all the crap out now with greatness to return soon - between this and the lame Muse tune prior, we are DEFINITELY ready to move on!

i just plugged the computer into the tv and turned on RP
couldn't tell where the audio source was coming from
still not sure
That boy needs {#Beat}.
At first I thought this was Cut Chemist... NICE!!!! Whacky!!!

And now for something completely different . . .

Love this for all the wrong reasons, but it does make me LOL
That boy needs therapy.
I have this rated as a 3, but every darn time the song comes on, I stop what I am doing, listen and read the comments.....
From Knights of Cydonia into this, what a segue! I'll be donating again.
More Avalanches, PLEASE.

This was the big single but, in my opinion, one of the weakest cuts from a truly great album.
A masterpiece of an album.  Not the best piece on the album but a fantastic one nonetheless.  I'm shocked to hear this on RP.
Oh My Lord. see the video on the Youtubes.  It is almost too much to show my grandchildren. But I LOVE it.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLrnkK2YEcE&ob=av2e
uh...Idiot-Wind? There is no rapping.
I don't know what this is but I love it. I need therapy.
An oddie but a goodie
Wow...the YouTube is quite a performance...!
It's so campy that I can't look away.

+1 for this description.

I do have to say the song grew on me by the end.  I'm still reserving my vote, though...

Wednesday Thursday Friday??
Fun!

Walken was in "Weapon of Choice".
Yeahhhhhhh bring on the avalanches :D
so glad to hear them on RP
