So you think you're in the middle of the ocean
Stranded on an island of your own?
Or stuck on the top of a mountain,
Either way you're gonna say you're all alone.

And I hesitate to say that you're a liar
I never tell the truth myself.
But I tried to chase you down and I got tired
So I'm leaving you to be with someone else.

'Cause you never wanna hook up in the middle
And I'd meet you there to talk if you would show
But you answer every question with a riddle
And refuse to even choose to let me go.

It used to be I'd tell you all my secrets
Giving you the credit you deserved
I guess you didn't care to lose or keep it
And we never quite connected from the first.

And I wish I had a way to make it better
To rearrange the world and make you smile.
But it's dumb to even think I had that power
And we haven't been that close in a while.

(guitar solo)

And I don't even wanna try to name it
Explain it for the one who couldn't care
'Cause all that matters is the way you choose to frame it...

I hesitate to say that you're a liar
I never tell the truth myself.
But I tried to chase you down and I got tired
So I'm leaving you to be with someone else.

'Cause you never wanna hook up in the middle
And I'd meet you there to talk if you would show.
But you answer every question with a riddle
And refuse to even choose to let me go.

Sebadoh is Hodabes backwards.

Which reminds me . . . this station is great, but would be greater if TMBG was played on occasion.  Something ("Birdhouse in Your Soul", etc.) besides "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)".

John and John are from one of my fave towns in MA but I wish they would take singing lessons.

Did not know these guys were from Northampton! Bought this song after hearing it here years ago. Hopefully they're just as good now that they've regrouped....

1st listen for me.  Never heard of them.  Thanks.

I am always amazed at the diversity shown here on RP - kudos!

I love Sebadoh - Lou & Jason write some amazing songs.

I found the finish to be considerably better than the start.

Rock 'n' roll is all growed up and playing instruments from all over the world.
Excellent CD from start to finish.

Ditto and in spades. Sounds of jackal retching!!

Hmmm.
Sounds like Weezer.  I'm a sucker for the garage band sound.

That's easy. Don't pass GO and don't collect $200. Go straight to a '1'.

This is one of my all time fav songs !!! Love  it !!!
This is a great CD. Some of Lou's best work.

Sing-songy.
At least it has a bridge where they stop that annoying melody
sebadoh - ahh the 90's!!!

Reminds me of XTC. . . and that's a good thing. . .

Indeed it does - and love the sound of this guitar.

I always thought this was Cake. I mean that in a bad way. Is that a piece of lint on the carpet or...?
I just love Sebadoh....I can't seem to help myself....

This has a more early raw new wave sound like early Graham Parker and the Rumour, early Elvis Costello. I always loved that sound. You can dance to it, the guitars are great and the lyrics make you think, and it has a raw energy to it.
Yep, this is rock best heard in a club and, after a couple of beers, something to dance to.

Yeah "Enouhg Enouhg"!
7 for the album title. 0 for the music.
Love these guys! Would be great if the RP library had even more from "Bakesale." 8
This band always makes me crave Nirvana. Enouhg of your happy crap, give me something dirty and depressing.

Dinosaur Jr would go nicely after this song (a little promotion of my upload on LRC right now). :D Bob
wow, I haven't listened to Sebadoh in a few years. Not that I don't like them, it's just that my CD collection is so huge and I'm constantly purchasing new music. I am going to go pull out my copy of Harmacy right now, because I always thought it was brilliant. Thank you RP for reminding me about this album! O, yeah, great song!
Whoa...a lot of the music sounds like Archers of Loaf off of their album, All the Nation's Airports.
Love Sebadoh! Last time I saw them was in October 2003... only Lou Barlow and Jason Loewenstein left.
Lou Barlow Rocks
A little elementary. But man, at least it's upbeat, straight-ahead rock w/a good hook. RP was putting me to sleep back there! Thank you for picking up the tempo.

That's exactly the sound Lou Barlow was shooting for. "Low Fi" nerd rock!!!! Check out their catalog it's very good!!!!!
More Sebadoh, More Folk Implosion, More Lou Barlow!
8) like a modern-day Buddy Holly...
Catchy, but kind of corny? cutsie? I don't know, can't put my finger on it.
Sort of cheeky. The guitars are a great hook. I would sing along if I knew the words.
Never heard of them, but I like this song!
I absolutely love this song! I, too, miss Sebadoh.
i missed sebadoh?? damn!!! somebody upload some more, please!!
hey! my upload! love this band!
:bananabanger: Ahh... Memory Lane...
Just a straight-up, infectious tune.
