Another first for RP. Holy cow, that guy can pick it. Fab.
my first willy hearing (in memory?). wow.  how many fingers does he have?
Saw him open for Jeff Beck back in 2000.  Fantastic.  Jennifer Batten was Jeff's second guitarist so it was guitar heaven that evening.
I thought this was Will Ackerman (Windham Hill).  I like!
Willy is cool!   The "hey man I can play fast" can get to you sometines, but he can also be slow and soulful.  Check out Available Light (especially the title cut!!!).  He also does an incredible live version of Peter Gabriel's "Digging in the Dirt".
Kottke on crank.
Surely he's a great guitarist, but to me it feels like this is playing fast for the sake of playing fast. I wonder what it would sound like when played at half speed...

 "Some" are either wishin' or have never seen Leo Kottke or
John Fahey  live. While there are simularities,
John and Leo were in a class of their own and it was real-damn-good !

Well, I'm glad Bill pulled this out of mothballs and gave it another chance - I really love it!  Willy Porter is a damned good musician, all right!
How can somebody this good not be famous?
Love the finger licks. {#Music}

Tried to design the CD cover for this and their second CD release, but didn't get the job. You'd think they would have floated me a freebie. {#Lol}

When I can't listen to RP I listen to The River.

Wow, was there really a 9 year gap between the playing of this?

That's right Sherman, set the wayback machine to 2002!

Wow - Blew me away - thought I was listening to Leo K. - I need to hear more of this guy...... :D

Exactly, but only if Kottke were on some kind of speed trip. Faster playing isn't necessarily better, but I'm impressed.
WISCOOOOOOOOO
I\'d love to hear more willy Porter on RP. How about some nice tunes like \"Cool Water\" or my personal favorite \"Jesus on the Grille\"
What a great insturmental piece. Sounds like a lot of fun with open tunings.
