I may not be your best
You know good ones don't come by the score
You've got something missing
I'll help you look you can be sure
And if you want to be alone
Or someone to share a laugh
Whatever you want me to
All you gotta do is ask

Thunder
Don't go under the sheets
Lightning under a tree
In the rain and snow
I'll be your fire side
Come running to me
When things get out of hand
Running to me
When it's more than you can stand

I said I'm strong
Straight
Willing
To be a
Shelter
In a storm
Your willow
Oh willow
When the sun is out

A fight with your best girl
Prettiest thing you ever saw
You know I'll listen
Try to get a message to her
And if it's money you want
Or trouble halved
Whatever you want me to
All you gotta do is ask

I said I'm strong
Straight
Willing
To be a
Shelter
In a storm
Your willow
Oh willow
When the sun is out

Shelter in a storm
Your willow
Oh willow
When the sun is out

One of my favourite songs from one of my favourite artists. Just beautiful.
This album is truly outstanding.
I know so little about her, but every time I hear her I know it’s special
I love her voice! Great song! ❤️
Haven't heard this lady's outstanding voice for the longest time.  Thank you, Bill, Rebecca & co!
Superlative.  Utterly Godlike artist, to my ears.
More Joan, please. So wonderful.
I saw her in Toronto sometime in the early/mid 80s on a sultry summer night outdoors at the CNE bandshell. She closed with this and the entire audience was on its feet swaying and singing along. Absolutely lovely.
wow, sublime
Not a bad track on this record - an amazing piece of work. And as beautiful as Willow is, this is probably my least favorite.
In Baseball terms when you 'swap' pitchers you are Armatrading!
Never tire of watching this.

Now we're talking.
Saw her in Burlington VT circa 1997 she closed with this song.
Everyone stood up  and sang along.
pretty cool
Such clarity, of voice, of intention. Bloody amazing artist.

Always loved this song back in the day.  And yet I'd forgotten it after so many years.

It's a wonderful thing when hearing a song like this brings back such warm memories.

I have it on vinyl, too. Can't play it anymore but I'll never let it go.
She's used this to close her concerts when I've seen her live. Imagine 10,000 people singing in unison:

Willing to be a shelter in a storm.
Your willow, a willow, when the sun is out.
Excellent
Bringing back some great
memories.  Her music is timeless....

I confess I know very little about her, but man, what a delivery, what purposefulness. Lovely.
Joan Armatrading is just so pleasant to listen to.
Thanks RP for introducing me to her music.
Joan is a gift.
