For the life of me I couldn't place that song at first until I heard the lyrics "Bienvenido a Hotel California." The guy has a tendency to yell-sing lustily but he really nails it with that cover.

Never warmed up to the Gipsy Kings. Virtuosity is undeniable, but for me it just never takes off. 

It also reminds me of what Wolf Trap has become (the summer season, not The Barns) compared to what it used to be.

{#Stupid}  I'm trying to decide if I prefer the song instrumental as it is here or with lyrics... it's weird to hear it without lyrics but, at the same time, it is more pleasant to listen to, it sounds "empty" but more harmonious. ( Does that even make sense? )

Not surprising that the Spanish were seriously miffed when this bunch of highly talented French guys became the most famous exponents of Spanish guitar music in the world. But if you think this track is a little tame, try Serana, or Vamos a Bailar from the album Mosaique for sheer musical excitement.

In Iran, where I live, they have simply ruined GK and some other great instrumental music by using it as generic background music in restaurants, stupid tv programmes, etc...
and what really helps is the absence of copyrights of any kind.

VERY Cool! I used to manage a Spanish restaurant, and this was one of the artists/groups in our cd rotation. I've enjoyed them ever since. But I've NEVER heard them on a radio station before!

I have been checking out a bunch of Strunz and Farah music lately. They are pretty awesome. When Bill and Rebecca get back from their trip and begin accepting uploads again I will be certain to include some of their songs.

I\'ve never particularly liked the Gypsy Kings. Having lived in Spain, I can honestly say I don\'t think they sound like real gypsy music. They record on a french record label and have a non-spanish sound (to me). Instead, I recommend Strunz & Farah to people. They\'re in Los Angeles and play a more cosmopolitan form of this same guitarismo music. I especially recommend their \"Primal Magic\" and \"Americas\" albums.
