She calls early in the morning about money that I might have spent
It's a classic case of I dont know where it went
I want this to read like a letter
And I want it to ring like a phrase
Somewhere out in the road as the sky's last light burns away

You call I write I may answer
I many never send anything

Youll leave and you'll go
It's alright if we dont remember

Did I say I'd stay
What if I was wrong?

I'll be out in the road before you know that Ive gone
I'll be out in the road before you know that I've gone

And I'm tired of reflection and warning
Keeping myself at the centre of it all
We lie out of boredom
Just to stall the inevitable

You're waking in bed
I light a candle you said
You were leaving before the sun
And what does it mean to mean something and never get anything done?

I lie in wait for the better part of the day

To be out in the road as the skys last light burns away
To be out in the road as the sky's last light burns away
To be out in the road as the sky's last light burns away

I thought this was a Nanci Griffith song that I hadn't heard before.
Wow! Haven't heard this since I was living in Kingston, Ontario in the early 90's. Used to go see Weeping Tile a lot. Sarah Harmer is still writing and singing beautifully today!
Seems many songs from the past are being brought back into rotation...maybe they should have stayed in the closet?  This one would be a good place to start.
Cool song.

Starting to get irritated with the lag on the website for the last week or 2.  Anyone else finding it is taking ages at the moment between clicking a song and getting the comments box? Also a couple of times it didn't register my vote and I had to refresh the page.  Maybe its just me?
Ayyyeeee - I know why it\'s weeping....
You have got to be kidding! I remember purchasing this album about 8 years ago. I chose it because I liked the name of the band (this is a bad habit of mine, but can sometimes be advantageous). I thought it was some local band from out west and somehow their promotional CD made it\'s way to Chicago. I have never heard anything else from or about this band ever. to weird...
Sarah Harmer has the golden touch. Her singing, lyrics, melodies - the songs don\'t just resist tiring, they get better, more comfortable, more irresistible as you listen to them, like a favourite sweater. I can\'t wait for her next solo album....
Great song -- would be even better if the lead singer could sing. She has that annoying habit of raising the volume to make up for not hitting the right note.

adore this band, this song, and sarah\'s voice... the recent praise given to the respective offsprings of weeping tile couldn\'t be more deserved!! very proud to be here in their hometown!
