All the old paintings on the tomb
They do the sand dance, don't you know
If they move too quick (Oh-way-oh)
They're falling down like a domino

All the bazaar men by the Nile
They got the money on a bet
Gold crocodiles (Oh-way-oh)
They snap their teeth on your cigarette

Foreign types with the hookah pipes say
Way-oh-way-oh, ooh-way-oh-way-oh
Walk like an Egyptian

The blonde waitresses take their trays
They spin around, and they cross the floor
They've got the moves (Oh-way-oh)
You drop your drink, then they bring you more

All the school kids so sick of books
They like the punk and the metal band
When the buzzer rings (Oh-way-oh)
They're walking like an Egyptian

All the kids in the marketplace say
Way-oh-way-oh, ooh-way-oh-way-oh
Walk like an Egyptian

Slide your feet up the street, bend your back
Shift your arm, then you pull it back
Life is hard you know (Oh-way-oh)
So strike a pose on a Cadillac

If you want to find all the cops
They're hanging out in the donut shop
They sing and dance (Oh-way-oh)
They spin the clubs, cruise down the block

All the Japanese with their yen
The party boys call the Kremlin
And the Chinese know (Oh-way-oh)
They walk the line like Egyptian

All the cops in the donut shop say
Way-oh-way-oh, ooh-way-oh-way-oh
Walk like an Egyptian
Walk like an Egyptian

Came back to say I found it. If anyone else is interested, the clip is from "El Mago" (1949):

9 for pure nostalgia!
cute singers only get you so far . . . .4
Uh uh no no. I dislike whistling in rocksongs.
Susanna Hoff's wink in the video still gets me.
A 9 for me. Yeah, it's not a masterpiece or anything, but it's really catchy and really fun - not everything has to be groundbreaking to be really good

Did a backstage meet-and-greet with the band at the height of their popularity. We all had the hots for Susanna as well.  Many of us tried to engage her in conversation. What worked, to our surprise, was one of our guys talking rabbits. She apparently had a pet rabbit at the time and we all stood in amazement as they chattered away. The rest of us were invisible.
Michael Steele's bass playing! As always, outstanding.

Are you from Egypt then? If so, why is this so offensive? Which negative stereotypes are being reinforced by this song?

Marti was cheated out of this! But I still like it!

I'd've given it a 7 but it would end up in my Favorites (for the sake of offline listening blocks), and as much as I think it's a good song, worthy of a 7, it's something I can hear on just about any radio station, just about any day. So it gets a 6. Sorry ladies. Actually the GoGos were better

I wonder if 3000 years from now, future civilizations will write songs like this about us.

All the businessmen eating pizza
They're all on their phones, don't you know

Chair dancing time!!!
When this came out, I had a friend that used to sing: "Walk like a Yugoslavian"! And, he had a really funny dance to go along with it!!!

GREAT BAND!!!
Still rock, a great pop song. Recently at a party of 50 somethings walking like an Egyptian around the room with this blaring. Nostalgia definitely a big part of the vibe.

Really thought this was pop trash when it came out while I was a college hippie dead head. It's grown on me and/or has a nostalgia quality. Plus Susanna Hoffs was and still is adorable!!!

Bloody brilliant pop music.
Every time I hear this I think of my wedding.

When this song played at the reception, all the small kids there started walking like an Egyptian on the dance floor.
Fromage! Less filling....Tastes Great!
This one always remind me youth with an MTV. I love it!
Having heard this song so many times on the NYC radio stations, I wish RP could/would play some other songs off the same album

King Tut was in the late 70s - it has a strong association with high school for me. Bangles is probably close to 10 years later.
Great dance tune!
What I want to know is: do Bill and Rebecca giggle when they spin a song like this at their listeners?
This is just fun!

If I’m among the public & this song starts playing, chances are you’ll almost always see someone (or at least me) — palms flat & @90° angles — doing The Dance.

It’s catchy & deserves a Pharaoh mount of praise.

As a person who would like to have been (or still be) a pilot, that's a cool little tidbit.  And I suppose we can all say THANKS to you for giving us the Bangles...cuz...well...
This whole album was pretty good.

This was my experience too...I think I was in 4th grade when it came out...no idea how many times I've had folks ask me "do you walk like an Egyptian?"  UGGG

Still...I like the tune too...rated a 7.
