In my experience at least 90% of people who throw around racism accusations, and here is a case in point, are themselves just ignorant.

Thank you RP! I love and have studied Sitar music for many years. Anoushka Shankar is incredible when you see her live. Just as is the case with many outstanding musicians, I cannot help but marvel at her dexterity – as far as her fingers are concerned but also her mind.

It takes a lot of discipline to master the Sitar. Anoushka is a superstar in her own right, just as her half-sister Nora Jones.

I listen with interest and try to suspend my Western musical habits and responses. The musicianship is astonishing. One cannot fault the passion.  Jimmy Page and a bunch of others tried the sitar and the sound. I think they never quite got the hang of it.

Our "western ears" are not accustomed to this. I think that I warmed up to this many years ago thanks to Oregon (The group, not the state)

Not sure I necessarily agree with "racists"; but there certainly are a number of folks with very narrow musical comfort zones and very loud opinions about things outside those zones.  It does make me wonder sometimes why they're listening to RP.

I saw Ravi play with his daughter, Anoushka, almost 20 years ago.  What a wonderful concert.  You could really see the daughter father love on stage.  As I understand it, Anoushka was the only person Ravi ever mentored on sitar.

I was invited to a Ravi Shankar concert in Austin Tx, in the late 70's, i was 18 or 19.  Didnt know him or his music.  Have been a fan of the sitar and his musical influence ever since.   Thank you Bill for playing this.

I absolutely LOVE it!!! I saw Ravi & Anoushka perform at the Kennedy Center in DC several years ago, and it was completely, utterly mindblowing to say the least. the amount of talent flowing from that stage was staggering. they were having a blast playing, and the vibe saturated the crowd - everyone left with a huge grin on their faces. :D
