Let me tell you
You're at the Jubilee
Or you're all alone
Because the more, the merrier is how
My friends all tell me so
The birds wake up the grass
And they tell everybody
Say it's time to grow
The sun, whispers to the birds
Oh, the song yet to be sung

Song yet to be sung
(Song yet to be sung)
Song yet to be sung

You're at the Jubilee
Or you're all alone
Because the more, the merrier is how
My friends everybody, they all tell us so
From the heights of Zion
I hear, it's whispered in your ear
We get to play on, play on, wild designery!
A little bitty song, a song yet to be sung!

Song yet to be sung
(Song yet to be sung)
Song yet to be sung
Song yet to be sung
(Song yet to be sung)
Song yet to be sung

wow, brutal! i hope he was ok afterwards, being that this original post was 2 yrs ago.
Definitely has a nice 80s sound.  Sounds like The Fixx.

Ah - maybe it's a song ABOUT a 'Song Yet to be Sung'....
This song could’ve been on Nothing’s Shocking or Ritual. Without the backup singer(s), that is
I really like this; the awesome bass and beats in it make me want to hear The Fixx's "Less Cities More Moving People..."

You want Frank, then play Frank, yourself, as much as you want, from your own collection. Knock yourself out! Or, start your own channel, why don't you. That way, you won't have a Frank Zappa deficit anymore; you'll just play Frank all day and night long, and Perry Farrell will be banished from your ear drums, while we enjoy him here. Just a suggestion.

Found this guy somehow -- probably Napster -- and have thoroughly enjoyed his music since then.  Spacey enough to hit my esoteric requirement, but with a solid bottom from drum and bass.

My husband will be possibly having that surgery soon.  Frightening, but unfortunately necessary.  Bruce Springsteen had it too, I believe.

18 years later he's still kickin (and pissing people off on Twitter)

Lyric .... yet to be writ-tun ..................
The "and" note in the drum groove gives the tune its swing.  I use it all the time in my own playing.  Check out Gunpowder and Lead by Miranda Lambert to hear another great example.
Tom Waits - Franks Wild Years followed by Talking Heads - Burning Down the House. Pure. Genius.

I like the rhythm.  The lyrics not so much.

Well, yeah, but...that's quite alright!
Got this LP solely on the recommendation of a friend.  It still kicks ass, and the friend is still close in spirit: he traveled from Tampa to see Kraftwerk with us last year.

Although there have been many verses in the song of my own life, there are many yet to be sung!

Only if he sings it again. {#Propeller}
MOST EXCELLENT  : P     (good workout beat)

Logically, he must be singing about another song.
That amazing drumbeat is like something tribal, something exotic; the sinuous rest of it drives me wild, too! Nice, pulsing rhythms here.

Wow! Love this...never would have guessed it was PF!
Superior chair dancing music!{#Dancingbanana}{#Dance}{#Drummer}
Love Perry Farrell! He just keeps evolving, in a great way!
I acquired four or five of his songs via my sons' efforts to drag me into the 21st century, and they're all very good and similar to this: a little spacey, nice percussion/rhythm, subdued but skillful guitar, all topped with his distinctive voice.

Couldn't tell you song names, albums, lyrics, or anything like that; the songs were burnt onto a CD with sequence numbers that say "Perry Farrell".
This is great!  Anyone heard the whole album - good?

Pretty friggin good- we're dancing frenetically ariund the boat here...
Never heard this...I like it
Haven't heard this for years!  Really liked this album when it was released.  Thanks for playing it!
"song yet to be sung" that is an open goal for haters.. He he. I like it however. 7.

I actually think he and Mike Scott sound more alike.

I dunno, I kinda like the lyrics.  I can't understand them so I tend to ignore them, but when I went and looked them up, they seemed sweet and upbeat; like a child's description of dawn.  But then, I tend to like childlike music, when it's also, y'know, good.

i just read the Jane's Addiction book "Whores" about the LA music scene and their lives mid-80's on and enjoyed hearing some newer Perry Farrell just to put in perspective.

i used to know this song when it was called 'Less cities, more moving people' by The Fixx...

It is kinda funny how these days even U2 has to try to sound like U2.  Too bad good music just doesn't seem to be popular anymore.

rather dreadful, I'm afeared...

Maybe the song should have stayed that way.
To me this sounds like U2 trying to sound like U2 but not real successfully {#Stupid}
I'm not exactly a fan, but I appreciate the fact that he continues to "evolve" musically, take risks and not worry about what people think, like other greats such as Dylan, Bowie, Neil Young, Tom Waits et al.
Nice.

Shades of The Fixx.
nice to hear another side of him
I like this, a nice change in sound from his old Jane type stuff. Generally I didn't like most of the Jane stuff, and he seemed like that was all he'd do.

They appeared on "Leno" with a sex pot go go dancer (ala 1960's but on extreme steroids). The tune wasn't as memorable as the imagery. Impressive for someone who barely recovered from a grave illness.
The "sex pot go go dancer" is Perry's wife. Thank god Jane's is back together! This solo album rocks though!

Loved Jane's, but I'm way over Perry at this point.

He's only recorded 2 good songs, and this is one of them!
some may like him... some may not... but I found this to be of great interest... "In December 2001, Farrell risked his life by flying into politically-troubled Sudan with other members of Christian Solidarity International to negotiate the release of Sudanese slaves. Jane's Addiction donated their earning from one concert for the redemption of over 2300 people, who had been enslaved under terrible conditions. Once the redemption agreement was signed, Farrell started up freedom parties at various redemption sites "armed only with a boom box and his legendary voice."
i thought it was Talk Talk
Like the groove of this.
why am i not surprised he is shirtless on the cover of the cd?
Wrong tense, alas, in the verb in the title; would that it would remain unsung! Though it is passive.
When is The Satellite Party going to hit the airwaves?
perry farrell = peripheral
Like it, don't like it, like it, don't like it.
there's a reason nobody's sung this before. it's shite...
It reminds me this one: Native Americas Chants-The cradle song.
way less annoying than the other stuff i've heard by him
The pack and I just LOVE our fellow coyote brother Perry!!

Looking for it! Saw his show at Coachella in '99 which is where I believe he introduced this new sound. Love it.
Very very good and catchy music, but this voice sucks big time. Can we please have this in an instrumental version? edit: I think it is a bit of a weak impersonation of the AfroCelt Sound System.

Awesome sentiment - I didn't see it coming. And yes, I agree. Farrell broke new ground with Jane's, now he's, what, visiting ground others have broken ground to dig around there?
If you like this, then you should check out Jane Say's off of Jane's Addiction's Kettle Whistle CD. Kettle Whistle is one of my all time favorites.
I'm going with Peter Gabriel.
If they mated.... Bono and Janah.
This is a great CD! I love Perry, what a genius!

The new Jane's Addiction cd is a little too too for my taste. They should call it "The Dave Navarro experience".. his guitar solos remind me of late 80's stereo typical melodies with too much hair and too little content.
This is a positively mind-blowing album. I've lost my copy (it's somewhere in my home-office mess), and I'm gonna go nuts tonight trying to find it. Outstanding.

I had a similar reaction,(but it became obvious it wasn't Peter's voice) or maybe another Afrocelt collaborator, or maybe Johnny Clegg (all of whom I love)But no. even better, a new discovery ! Courtland Manor eh ? My ancestors were Van Courtland tenant farmers(but I digress)

I thought it sounded like Icehouse? Perry would have been a long way down my list of guesses.
Am I the only one who gets annoyed at the \"little kids singing in the background\" ploy?
Turned to the computer to check out who made this \"groovy\" tune and I also was suprised see Perry Farrell. Getting his point across with a little less intensity than before -and he sounds better than ever. Really like this and look forward to hearing it again on RP - where else?!
i had to check again to see if i was hearing correctly. Perry Farrell? What a different sound for him

I'm thinking that a couple of the songs from the first album (the live one) like 1% or the back-to-back covers of Lou Reed's "Rock n Roll" and the Stones' "Sympathy"
