The whole album is brilliant (and i actually don't like a lot of Jeff Beck's other work... or Rod, for that matter... but, IMO, something amazing happened on 7 of the 10 songs on this album.

The guitar sound reminds me of a cut of Hoochie Coochie man from a Muddy Waters tribute album featuring the vocals of Paul Rodgers  (Free)  with Steve Miller playing jokey ( and some classic) guitar riffs behind him.

Incidentally Jeff Beck appears on the same album.

Miller was a highly talented guitarist (actually a prodigy of Les Paul), who it seems never really realized the limits of his playing, being content to relax after achieving commercial success. The Joker.

Not being driven to play as many notes as possible in the given time, he plays some toe-curlingly tasty licks on this track. Muddy Water Blues: A Tribute to Muddy Waters

I borrowed the "Jeff Beck At Ronny Scotts" dvd recently, he is some player, guest spots from Clapton, Imogen Heep, Joss Stone, superb little bassist too!
All stars in the audience too, no wonder they call him The Gov'nor.

I saw him in Beck, Bogart and Appice in the 70's, Appice did an awesome solo. At the allotted point he starts his solo, the other two supped their pints, then on came the dry ice, flooding the stage. This drifted away, leaving a drummer-free drum set, with the solo going on over the PA. We were all slightly bemused for a bit. Then the dry ice flooded back in and covered the stage.
When it all disappeared there was Appice drumming on as if nothing had happened. Awesome, and seamless, we couldn't hear any seams between Appice,PA, and Appice. Real showmanship.

I'm having a hard time figuring out why this only has an average rating of 6.9. I always thought it was a monster - from when I first heard it as a high school kid and still now. Whenever I put this CD on, this is still the song I'm looking forward to the most. From the comment below, I'd really like to hear the Beck, Bogart, and Appice version.

This was such a good band. {#Bananajam} I always felt Rod Stewart's best work was this album and Beck-Ola.  Funny how  Led Zeppelin almost ended up with Rod as their front man.

It's really tragic that Rod Stewart has lost his edge, trapped in the world of Schlocky covers. I recently received Five Guys Walk Into a Bar, the Faces anthology. It has all of the stuff from the Faces, when he was...good. May try to get some uploaded. RP only has one Faces song on the playlist.

I really have never liked anything JB has done. This song included. That doesn't mean that I don't respect what a great guitarist he is and what far-reaching influence he's had on rock, but I just don't like the music. Same with Clapton just in case you were wondering. Flame on.

Rod never sang better than when he was with Jeff, and Jeff never had a better singer than Rod.
Amen to that. This is back when Rod was a rocker. Jeff still is. I don't see how people can call this truly awful, but there you go, individual taste. Too bad they can't respect others.

The reason I like this song is because it reminds me of that cool scene in \"Casino\". It fit the mood perfect. I suppose if I am going to hear Rod on RP, I want it to be this.
