You've never been to the moon
But don't you want to go?
Under the sea, in the volcano?
You've never looked into my eyes
But don't you want to know
What the dark and the wild
And the different know?

Come dance with me now
We'll dance without a care
I'm as free as a fire
And change is in the air
There are some things in my life
I'll never understand
But they become the force
That makes me who I am

You've never been to the moon
But don't you want to go?
Under the sea, in the volcano?
You've never looked into my eyes
But don't you want to know
What the dark and the wild
And the different know?

Don't you worry about the kids
The kids are alright
Mama's rollin' in the back yard
Filled with love and light
'Cause you live and you learn
And you learn to hold on
And time will make it heal
And time will make it gone

You've never been to the moon
But don't you want to go?
Under the sea, in the volcano?
You've never looked into my eyes
But don't you want to know
What the dark and the wild
And the different know?

Come with me now
Come with me now
It's time to try
It's time to fly

Under the sea, in the volcano?
You've never looked into my eyes
But don't you want to know
What the dark and the wild
And the different know?

Oh

You've never been to the moon
But don't you want to go?
Under the sea, in the volcano?
Ah, you've never looked into my eyes
But don't you want to know
What the dark and the wild
And the different know?

No, no, no

You've never been to the moon
But don't you want to go?
Under the sea, in the volcano?
You've never looked into my eyes
What the dark and the wild
And the different know

Lake Trout's Last Words followed by ME's The Different . Way to go Bill!
No matter what she sings, she always depresses me.

While I don't disagree with your assement of her artistry, I'm thinking there must be stalker laws to deal with the behavior you describe.
Like many I suppose, I had grown a bit tired of ME. This is different for her, though, and I like it quite a bit.
A couple months ago I noticed the car in front of me had a bumper sticker that read \"Melissa Etheridge, get off my radio!\" Was rather amusing.

I can't speak for her personality as I've never met her. Her music sure bites though IMO.

Talented homosexuals: turn your creative energies to recruitment! ;)
For every 10 recruits you win a toaster oven!
Well I think she\'s just a bit bitter now. In my opinion she never had it. P.S. What U2 did worked for them because they are U2. They are so in touch with MUSIC that whatever they do will work. Think about the transition from POP to teh \"all you can\'t leave behind\" album, pure genius and raw talent which can never be touched.
In her case I would\'ve prefered she stayed true to the style of (making) music she seemed to love, \'cause this is so over the top that it\'s even hard to recognize her at all. Pitty she doesn\'t seem to get the opportunity, to evolve what she did best, but in stead is forced(?) to come up with something new. Even more because pure acoustic stuff is very valid at the moment. What worked for U2 doesn\'t work for everybody.
I like this one. It\'s too bad that ME\'s personality seems to be off putting to some listeners.
I have to agree with lily33 on this one...ME has not made much progress since she put out her 1st LP...In fact, even AMG (who tend to be very very generous with their reviews) only rates her as average (just above 3 stars)...she needs to try something more (like trading bonds? ... just kidding)...at least try...most people do tend to respect the effort, even if they don't like the results (e.g., Radiohead).

Obviously you know NOTHING about Melissa, otherwise you would realize your comment is ludicrous.
Melissa followed me since I have been 12 or so. She is just about the best female singer I know. ugh.....someone gag me...i can\'t stand melissa etheridge
overproduced shlock rock
An alum of my high school, thereby making Leavenworth known for more than just prisons.
I heard that she is working with Habitat For Humanity for 2002, doing various things. Among them: encouraging women to include carpentry as a possible career or hobby choice. Cool, huh?
I am a HUGE fan of Melissa and I have been listening to her music since 1986 and her first untitled album which included \"Bring Me Some Water.\" I have to admit that I have been somewhat disappointed in her last couple of albums \"Breakdown\" and \"Skin\" but this song will rate as one of my favorites.
I hate Melissa Etheridge, but this song is very powerful and I like it
